I usually have it set to friends only.. but sometimes it's fun to just get involved. On the odd occasion I've gone in quiet and just listened to the lobby, I've met a few cool people that way, struck up some good conversations and made some long term playing buddies/crew members. It CAN be beneficial to be chatty, you just gotta find the right room and likeminded people.

I typically do when I'm bored. I think the only counter would be to suddenly stop responding to my attacks and start blasting music/ changing chat privacy, making annoying sounds, then I would have to mute them

I do too if they keep their mic open and talk to someone else in the room (at their house) or cough loudly. If they're having a conversation with people I don't bother but if they're leaving their mic on for the world to hear them burp through the mic I'm relentless in making them bitch.

I'm going to start a new account named TheDoritosKiller and take out players that I hear crunch-crunch-crunching into their mic. That was the very first thing I heard, the very first time I went into GTA Online.

 

I would pay good money to see that account become a reality. Not real money, more like monopoly money which is still good money.

I do that kind of thing too - it's not only honourable, but it's great fun hearing them take the rage further and further until they explode (both literally and figuratively).

I always look for who's talking and they are my target. Especially if it's a group. Listening to them B**** while I pwn them is always so rewarding. I keep my mic muted and just kick back and listen lol.

Funnier was that time you targeted a group talking and they end up pwning you, over and over, until you rage quit.

If they're actually communicating with people it doesn't bother me in the slightest, the way it should be, however you always get those guys who single out two players talking normally in a session.

A particularly toxic personality mix can be found in a high proportion of mic users. First THEY WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW THEY ARE HERE. Secondly, they tend to be bullies who like to harass. Often I don't get to put a bounty as others in the lobby find them annoying and have put one on them, but I will lay muggers and mercs on them, even if both are fairly crap. It's a way of saying to the person to f off.
