Arrows to Athens

I know those AFK players are AFK for the sole reason of making us do all the work because they happen to go on the controller only when I try to run them down with my car. They're clearly just sitting their behind the screen doing whatever they're doing.

I once "failed" at killing an AFC. Tried to headshot a SandKing driver (we were in the Canyons) only for a drunken NPC rams me head-on from behind, killing me in one hit. The jackass AFC player left as soon as he saw my death.

This was during a mission?

oops, sorry, I forgot to mention - it was Roofcock Dumble during "its glory" days IIRC.

Oh yeah, lol.

Why in the hell would anybody be bothered by an AFK player? I always LOVED to have AFK players in my missions. They add money and RP to the job, and most importantly, THEY'RE NOT GONNA F*CK ANYTHING UP! I was always more pissed about the idiots destroying the objective and failing the mission. Give me AFK players anytime!

You got a good point, but they should be assiting the other players instead of milking the payouts off us by doing nothing.

I join randoms for TEAMWORK, not to make hard work with them not doing any sh*t yet still get paid like me.

Fearx, it's just to me, screwing the mission up is worse than doing nothing and milking the profits. I'd rather do them by myself anyway than with some Rambo that rushes through everything without thinking.

I'm kinda neutral to AFK's. I like doing the missions myself since every time I play with randoms, they get themselves killed. Having them stand around gets me more money and RP which is always good. And to be honest, I really don't care that they're just mooching the rewards. I guess I'm just a nice guy like that.

But at the same time, they're a burden for CMs that require heavy teamwork or the CM is one of those "go to location while enemies endlessly spawn around you" missions which means the AFK will use up all my lives.

It would still be better if they helped because that can sometimes reduce the likehood of failing the mission.

Actually the subject at hand is about dealing with AFK players, not why we join randoms.

Only randumbs AFC "for no reason".

If it was a friend/crewmate they would tell you they will. Randumbs give you the middle finger and won't move no matter what without even telling you why.

Yes, and as I said, I'd rather them do nothing than screw the mission up.

Take "Landing Gear" for example. I love that mission, but most of the time randoms screw it up, and you're inexplicably required to have three other idiots with you to do the mission. I don't need help to do any mission, especially this one. I'd much rather they just stand around and let me do the mission. Fortunately, a lot of times they all rush in and killed anyway, so I'm free to finish the mission by myself.

That's one mission. Online must have well over 45 missions IIRC.

I agree though, the player-vs-mission balance thing is just stupid. Method In The Madness, Landing Gear/Strip, Last Chopper Outta LS, Effin' Lazers, Chop Chop, Parking Garage etc, all these missions require at least 2 players. Yet in Handle With Care, you need to deliver 2 boats at the end of the mission. This doesn't make any sense.

You don't even need to fly all three to the destination. You can blow up the other two and only deliver one. Same applies to Method in the madness. You don't have to deliver both meths.

Ah, you reminded me of a glitch that happened in the same mission. All the other players died somehow (can't remember the details), and I was flying the final plane - a f*cking Mammatus. I managed to land it right - found a fairly large area to land in then taxied my way to the marker - and hit the Yellow marker.... yet no sh*t happened. Tried again. Moved away then re-parked on the marker. Nope. Someone PSN PM'd me, telling me to destroy the plane, which is what I did.

MISSION PASSED! :rol:

Didn't know that was a glitch. I was simply pointing out that you only need to deliver one plane, as long as you destroy the other two.

I hate afk players, I used to run them over, vote to kick, send hateful messages, and everything in between.

Now I just do the mission anyway...and maybe I'll bump them a bit with my car before speeding off, that's about it theses days though.

@Fearx, if they happen to use the controller now and then its because its one person playing two people on two consoles, Ive done the same thing, run two accounts same time, usually I just want missions with just the other account and me but sometimes other people load on so its none of your guys business how we play.

Another time is when I vote for freeroam cause I have a mini emergency, expecting to come back, but come back only to find myself in a contact mission with the other players long gone and already completing it by themselves. So F you guys, You don't know the full story, bitching about missions that are so easy, I often do Los Santos Connection by myself.

I don't understand people who dick around and screw up missions or afk for the rewards. In no other situation would people feel that entitled. "My game, I'll play how I want" people don't seem able to truly comprehend there are other real live people on the other end and they aren't NPCs.

You don't play a team sport and run around dicking around because it's your game so you'll play football how you want. Maybe if you're all alone with a football you can be weird with it all day, but you're not alone, so get your sh*t together.

I let it slide for some missions where I know I don't need anyone's help because I am doing the whole thing in a chopper or jet anyways. When that's not the case though, I like parking right next to the AFK apparent and holding down the horn on the Insurgent for about 30-40 seconds, which usually causes them to either star moving and participating or verifies they are truly AFK, and thus subject to most of the things other people have already mentioned.

I've also recently been much more proactive about talking to other players to coordinate reporting and kicking free loaders, whether it's using the mic or just sending messages in-game. Lots of people just don't notice it happening or don't know how to vote to kick someone, and just need a bit of prompting.

Normally I like helping players in missions, many of them critically rely on Teamwork. Though sometimes the players you get matched with are dicks. if you:

-team kill me

-blow up my car

-run me over while I'm walking up to your car to get in so you can speed away

Then f*ck you. Make me money bitch. I'll watch a video on YouTube while you waste your ammo making me rich.

Nope. I was just pointing out that you can only deliver one and still complete the mission. It makes everything easier.

I don't mind when they go afk halfway through the mission. Its the ones that do nothing from the start that annoy me, I'll just leave the mission. Sometimes I'll try to kill them or fail it. Not worth the effort most of the time

I usually get my lowrider, open up all doors, switch radio to East Los FM (not that i can actually hear it, my radio volume is 0 and i play musics from windows media player), and just nudge the guy over and over till he died.

Preferably i let someone else get the objective after we've cleared all the enemies first, so no risk of failing.

I've got over AFKers. If that's what they wanna do that's fine by me. More people in the mission = more money for me.

^ THIS I wish I could have an AFKer in every mission I do......

they dont hurt anything and you make more money.....

but I'm a lotta years past expecting the world to be fair .....

I also handle mission Kuruma asshats with Airstrike. Wrestle them with the Insurgent into submission. Once you got them in a hold call for a airstrike and throw the flare next to yourself. Your Insurgent will survive, however the Kuruma will be blown to bits by the first of strikes along with the guy in it.

I've got mixed feelings about AFK players, on one side they give you more money and RP and don't f*ck the mission up. On the other side, they don't do anything to deserve the money they get, so if I go free roam after the mission I will kill them a couple times just to prove a point and ideally mug them to make an extra buck
