Trouble with mouse macro in single player

I've got a Razer Deathadder mouse and I've programmed the 'painkiller' cheat into one of the side buttons. Sometimes it works, other times it either doesn't, or only gets as far as typing in the word and the ENTER doesn't register.

 

Simple key bindings work fine. I think maybe the side buttons are automatically bound to the left button in game or something. Is there a way around this?
