Dawg37
You need strength and skill for sure but It's just super boring to watch though. I skip over all gymnastic events during olympics. I don't really watch it, except for the highlights. To me it's like watching Soccer, it's boring to watch but playing it is really fun. I pretty much just watch the sprinting and swimming with the occasional taekwondo. As for esports, they've totally ruled out all games with any sort of violence. The only games allowed would probably be sports titles like fifa, nba etc. Lol, Esports at the Olympics. That's pretty much a simulation for actual sports, well not even that. Pushing buttons for an Olympic event, I would not call any of the competitors athletes at all. I'd rather have this at the Olympics than Esports; (If it is already an Olympic event then wtf?) @UshaB Esports lol y? y u do dis? lmfao. Kiffster
I watch a lot of events. Athletics and swimming for sure, but also stuff like rowing, canoing, all cycling events (including bmxing which I hope is there to stay) and then a new favourite from Rio, handball. First time I've ever watched handball but it was definitely one of the highlights for me. Really fun to watch. And then I think I watch most events at the winter olympics, even curling. Only events I can think of there that I don't watch are the artsy, dancing stuff. Not A Nice Person
I actually like watching Gymnastics, such an interesting sport to watch. BMX, archery, and beach volleyball are my new favorites from Rio. For the winter olympics ice skating and skiing are my favorites but I try to watch the events. Kiffster
So just a couple more weeks to go till the winter olympics. Looking forward to it. We have one single athlete this year in alpine skiing, but I'm sure he'll bag gold and break some records haha. Love most of the events like skiing, snowboarding, bobsleigh, luge, skeleton, cross country and speed skating. Rest of the stuff not so much although I do find myself enjoying curling sometimes for some reason Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/838396-olympics-general-discussion/page/5/#findComment-1070064450 Share on other sites

Not A Nice Person
Watching the Opening Ceremony and it's definitely the best of the Winter games, I loved how they used the projection and props to show Korea's traditional and modern values, like in Rio. But the impact of the imagery and unified Koreas was just wow.. Also Kim Yuna is such a queen. Beijing is still on top of the oc game but Pyeongchang is probably top 3 I've seen. Also unlike what some people are saying the Olympics 30 years ago was very important in the beginning of South Korea's development from military dictatorship. The only time the venues fell into disuse was Athens and maybe Atlanta. make total destroy
more like doughlympics, dough in this case meaning money and not a bread dough or cookie dough or something like that but dough as in fiat currency paper money, as in this will invariably cost a lot of dough but it will also make a lot of dough for some private entities and multinational corporations but it will also still be p boring to actually sit down and watch but that's unrelated to my joke and just my opinion thank you Norsea and El Dildo 2 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/838396-olympics-general-discussion/page/5/#findComment-1070088235 Share on other sites

darthYENIK
I remember in the X-Games in like 1998 when Bob Burnquist crashed into a 10 year old Shaun White, knocking him out, Im pretty sure. Now Shaun is called a 'legend' by Bob Costas. Just a thought. Not A Nice Person
US almost sweeped womens halfpipe, but Chloe Kim is such a queen! Also Mirai Nagasu landed the triple axle and became the fourth woman to do it, first at the Olympics. Unfortunately she got second because figure skating is a corrupt russian institution. https://youtube.com/watch?v=4pyV0G7HeEc Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/838396-olympics-general-discussion/page/5/#findComment-1070094638 Share on other sites
Kiffster
So our one and only participant this year took part in two events and crashed out of both. Brilliant stuff!! Not A Nice Person
So glad Yuzu defended his gold a few days ago, but you gotta admit it's kinda funny seeing the US send an army of athletes to these games especially in Figure Skating and barely medal'd. Also interesting someone posted Exo who will be performing at the closing. le shark
So far the most memorable moments for me were today's Canada - Germany hockey game and the whole 2-man Bobsled competition where Canada and Germany performed exactly the same and both crews won the gold medal. Overall a nice Olympics indeed. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/838396-olympics-general-discussion/page/5/#findComment-1070106247 Share on other sites
darthYENIK
US Women winning gold in hockey was my highlight. Such a great rivalry. Sorry Canadian friends, but Im glad your women were the ones crying this year. After decades of watching the US women crying. Delicious tears. Raavi
The figure skating really was a joy to watch. Probably my favourite sport to spectate these Winter Olympics. Also, the whole "Olympic Athletes from Russia" thing was absolutely ridiculous. If you want to ban athletes who were caught with doping fine, but don't punish clean athletes who just happen to be from the same country. This whole barring people from wearing outfits with Russian flags, and not playing the Russian anthem was just sad. Petty politics that have no place in sports. When I watched the first sporting event of this year's games, I was confused to see one of the ice hockey team's flags being represented by the Olympic symbol and being recognised as 'OAR'. I wasn't closely following the whole Russian doping scandal, so it definitely struck me as a bit weird. Anyway, the UK managed to do pretty well - our best medal haul yet. Shame the women's curlers couldn't clinch a medal, though. Kiffster
I actually fully support the sanctions on Russia. This was (or is) after all a massive nation wide, state sponsored cheating and doping operation in all sports, not just olympic sports. And it's not really as if clean athletes are really being punished. I think the initial plan was to ban all athletes from Russia regardless if they cheated or not, so at least clean athletes are allowed to compete. Look at South Africa who was banned from the Olympics in '64, 68, 72, 76, 80, 84 and '88, again rightfully so. Sometimes politics has to come into play if it means fair and clean competition for all participating nations. And the fact that 2 or 3 Russians were caught cheating this year didn't really help matters, but at least they were isolated cases. le shark 1 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/838396-olympics-general-discussion/page/5/#findComment-1070109175 Share on other sites
