R* need to tweak the cops, it's ruining the fun of Passive Mode.

One of the best things about Passive Mode is it's basically a live action Spectator Mode. Your unable to kill or be killed by other players. So your in free roam, you hear a crap ton of explosions going on, you can hope in your car, throw on Passive Mode and go straight into the heart of the war to witness first hand everything going on, without being dragged into it.

 

But you can't really do that because of cops. You now get wanted levels for NOTHING. All you have to do is be in the area of a gun fight, wanted stars. Did I hit a cop car? Nope. Hit a pedestrian? Nope. Kill a player? Nope. Did I do ANYTHING at all? Nope. Just being in the area, wanted stars.

 

Going by that logic the cops should be shooting down every single ai pedestrian in the area at the time. But they can run around fine, but if I enter into that area at all, instant wanted levels.

 

I gotta say overall PS4 is far better then PS3. But if PS3 did anything a little better then PS4, it was cops. At least on PS3 you had to, oh you know, DO SOMETHING to get cops after you. Not like PS4 where they literally come after you for nothing.

 

I hope in future updates R* can have the cops lay off a bit. It's pretty insane how they are now.

My issue is when they ram into you and somehow it is your fault. THAT is what I don't like about the cops in Passive. You should be immune to them in Passive, or just let us use guns in Passive. Other players are just ghosts so we can't kill them and we gget guns taken away for twenty seconds when turning it off so nobody abuses it.

 

Standing around, you are making sure you're a safe distance from them right? Standing too close will get a wanted level just like regular NPCs call the cops or go aggro on you.

Going into a cross fire in rl will get you in trouble and cops will think your a affiliate to the criminals.

You sure your character isn't just black? Apparently that's a big enough crime for cops to kill you in the US.

 

Still, I do wish the cop AI was better. They don't even try to arrest you online. You should be able to give up IMO, pay a fine and respawn outside the nearest police station.

I agree, and while there at it, R* needs to tweak it so you can't just flip passive on/off at any moment and instead make it so when joining a lobby you are prompted whether you want to be passive or no and the only way to turn it off or enable it is to join another lobby and select your choice from the prompt once again.

OP, when you're getting wanted for doing nothing are you in your PV or a vehicle off the street? If it's an off the street vehicle you're getting wanted stars for to being in a stolen vehicle.

My Savage is still made of paper, jets are still vehicles that turn players border line invincible, there's still so much BS lag and disconnections/everyone leaving, the list could go on and on.

 

On topic, yeah they're such a pain. Tone them down to how they used to be - slower to really get going, but once they do they'll eventually get tanks and jets.

 

To everyone saying they're realistic - since when was that the main goal of gaming? Realism and fun do not go hand in hand. Besides, very little about this game is realistic.

Well, as much as I don't like getting wanted for no reason, in real life, standing around there or being in front of a cop in the middle of a chase ifs technically being an asset to the crime.

Here's what I'd do to change the cops in GTAO:

 

If you're in an armed Pegasus aircraft, your wanted level increases at 2 times the normal rate up to a maximum of 6 stars at which time police helicopters would be replaced by Lazers from Ft. Zancudo.

If you're in an armed Pegasus ground vehicle, your wanted level increases at 1.5 times the normal rate up to a 6 star maximum at which time Rhino tanks and Barracks OLs full of soldiers would be dispatched to stop you.

If you're engaged in PvP killing and not bothering innocent NPCs, then your wanted level would only increase at a rate of 0.5 times the normal rate up to a maximum of 5 stars.

If you're in passive mode, the only way you can get any stars is by running over & killing a cop since otherwise you are a threat to no one.

While they are at it tweaking the cops in passive mode. They can fix that f*cking boost the cops get, when ramming you from the back. it is a joke. I cant even drive in a straight line in a pursuit without them hitting me at unrealistic speeds.

Passive is needed when you are being spawn killed by a tank or jet and can't get away.

Passive mode only needs 2 tweaks in my opinion.

 

1.) Your icon should flash with the countdown timer when you choose to come out of it giving nearby players a heads up to help eliminate cheap kills.

 

2.) Passive mode should be enabled for the Luxor Deluxe & Swift Deluxe, yet completely disabled while using any Pegasus vehicle (or Lazer) that has offensive capabilities.

yes - if the cops were realistic, they would not forget about you after 60 seconds of hiding. Detectives would show up at your door later and arrest you for your crimes
