I have converted a beta vehicle from GTA LCS to GTA III, the Tommy:

It will not replace any car, I am making it a completely new vehicle. So far, it works great :)

Here is a quick gameplay video:

Even though it looks ugly in the modelling programs, in-game it looks better. And more importantly, it looks like as if it was totally intended for GTAIII. I really have a lot of fun driving around in it!

 

Checklist:

  • convert original .dff from iOS LCS (done, thanks to The Hero's RW file converter!)
  • fix windscreen_dam (the windscreen will become white untextured when damaged)
  • fix _dam parts
  • make collision (uses original .col)
  • handling.cfg data (uses original data)
  • GXT data
  • convert original .txd
  • make it spawn in traffic properly (currently Class is set as taxi)
  • make nice carcols
  • fix reflections
  • RELEASE!

*Note: due to the fact that III needs to run additional mods in order to recognize new cars, this release is for people who want to use stock GTAIII (or have version 1.0).

 

However, if you have GTAIII 1.1 you can use an .asi plugin that Jinx suggested me: https://yadi.sk/d/T5BQnHJMJLBJq

To use it, just follow the steps, but instead TAXI for HandlingId, use MINI. It worked for me, but in case it doesn't, just follow my instructions in the readme, as it works for both 1.0 and 1.1.

Copying this from the LCS BETA Thread:

 

Looks good but the interior shouldn't have reflections at all, and the front lights glass can get tweaked a bit aswell. Also its reflections could get lowered a bit. Otherwise it looks pretty III Style :)

Also you should use GTA 3 1.1 for adding cars. There are some scripts which make adding cars properly (including handling lines, sounds, being able to add a lot of cars...). I am doing a mod based on GTA 3 1.1, I added several cars I did and it works well :)

I know, this is because I didn't touch the DFF at all after conversion. I will fix that when I'm working on fixing windscreen_dam.

 

I am not sure if I have these scripts, so feel free to PM me any information you have!

So far, only this one, but let's hope the Android version has more stuff! :lol:

 

I have noticed some differences between the iOS and PS2 vehicles, but they are just minor.

Yup, i find it suspicious as to why the mobile versions of GTA Games have the deleted content the normal versions don't have. Like, did they use the wrong version in the office to make the port? GTA III's mobile port also had some hidden stuff other versions didn't have, for example. (Multiplayer leftovers)

Nobody knows, however it is a different studio doing the port this time. Probably they thought this car is intended to be used in-game or simply overlooked. Too bad there are not other files like that :(

 

Anyway, I have fixed windscreen_dam. Attempting to get _dam parts to work. I suspect I need proper .col for that.

Yes Silent, I have in meantime a MVL package in the works so I can easily test some changes :p I will release it alongside the III version.

Some progress:

I have finally got the damage working; I have also got the original .col and handling data working in-game aswell.

uvWcC8q.pngI still have some glitches to fix, but I guess I will be able to release it in the coming days. What do you guys think about the wheels choice? carcols suggestions are also welcome!

Yes, this is the original LCS handling without changing. So far I put few basic colours, white, black, red, green and blue (seeing this is intended to be Mini Cooper, these ones fit; I am not sure about the black colour though).

Sorry, but that's not the handling value, this is the converted value to VC standard as stated:

the next few were ripped from LC so we have had to "update" them to VC standard 

They are useful for VC, not III.

 

Little by little, I'm nearing completion. I have fixed a glitch where the windows are opaque on vanilla GTAIII if you don't use skygfx:
