Sonnу
My question is - does DSR affect on FPS more than setting the same resolution on a monitor that supports it? I mean, my monitor max res is 1366x768, but I want to play with 1920x1080, so what is better for FPS, to set 2.0x DSR or buy a new monitor and just set this resolution in the game? I guess DSR eats FPS or there is no difference?
Spider-Vice
I think DSR eats the exact same amount of FPS it does if you actually had access to the resolution, as it simply actually applies the resolution, then downscales it. For instance, if your DSR 2x was 1080p, it would be the same as actually having a 1080p screen. stretchx9
Dsr does produce a higher scaling at high resolutions before post processing but's not going to give any real advantage at sub-1080 resolutions. In the end you'll still be displaying an image that is very sharp but still will have the maximum number of pixels allowed according to the native resolution of your monitor. The resulting fps will be lower and about the same as when pushing your graphic card to display higher resolutions on a monitor that has a higher native resolution. Car wash- 3 minutes. Same car rolls out but is now clean. Car wash with detail- 30 minutes. Same car rolls out but is now spotless.
