Sektor
I wrote a radar/live map/GPS for GTA2. It should help you find all the tokens, powerups, weapons and the save point. MaVi
That's dope! I might download GTA 2 again to have a playthrough only because of this mod Sektor and Uzzi47
Molotok
Yeah, it is a really nice tool. Btw are the adresses of the molotovs and grenades not known or did you forget to include them?
Sektor
I forgot to include images for them. I'll add some later. You can add your own to the images folder: 204.png molotovs 205.png grenades These just for fun, don't need them: 138 active molotov 182/183 active grenade You can find out the object numbers by ticking show object ID in gta2 manager debug tab and then just find the object in game. Unfortunately arrow pointing location doesn't count as an object, so that will require a different method to find. Phones count as objects, so you can add them to the map if you make an image. edit: I added the molotov and grenade images, download again if you are missing them. I just used imagemajik on the GTA2 sprites convert "GTA2_USER OBJECT_1283.bmp" -transparent #000 205.png It's not perfect for all images but it seems fine with most of them. lastpackage
It's possible to put this into ingame radar? You know, there are trainers, that inject something, like image into directx or something like this. Is this possible to add radar as part of hud? Voit Turyv
Sektor = GTA2 version of Silent.
Sektor
Silent's a much better coder than I am. This radar only runs in a window at the moment, so best to also run GTA2 in a window. You'll need 7-zip to extract it. Best to extract to a writable folder like documents or desktop. Run gta2radar.exe as admin, run gta2 and it should just work. I think it's only compatible with the 9.6 classics version and 11.44. I'm using the Steam version with a patch Vike's GTA 2 update patch. That's probably why it isn't working for me. Sektor
It works with vike's 11.44 exe, that's what I use. I don't have the steam version to test. I've only tested it on Windows 10. Do you get a black window? You might need to right click gta2radar.exe and choose run as admin. Your gta2.exe must be named gta2.exe but I don't most people would change it. Edited August 30, 2017 by Sektor

Sektor
I'd rather people post problems than post nothing, it shows someone is actually trying my software and didn't give up straight away. Try moving gta2radar folder to somewhere with write permissions, like documents or your desktop. Not a program files folder. It tries to write an image to gta2radar\maps. Maybe I should store the images in the documents pictures folder. Edited January 13, 2016 by Sektor

BBBean
Very cool! Are those faint moving things cars that despawn when they get far enough?
Sektor
They are the dishes from moving TV vans. I have tried drawing all the dummy traffic before and it really shows how quickly vehicles despawn, it's like this game was written with PS1 memory limitations. Helegad
This radar app is the tits! But it doesn't work for me. I get a black screen just like the guy a few posts above. I'm using v9.6. Tried running as admin, didn't change anything. Can't wait for the next release! Edited January 15, 2016 by Helegad
Molotok
I use v9.6 too on windows 7 64bit and for me it works. Are you sure you are actually in a level, otherwise it will stay black.
Helegad
Yep, playing Downtown. I have the folder inside the GTA2 directory, but if I run as admin, that shouldn't be an issue. I've tried starting the radar while in-game and before starting the game. No dice either time. I've moved on from v9.6 to Vike's 11-point-latest version of the game. I love that I can now play with the widescreen patch, but it doesn't play nice with the radar either Edited January 15, 2016 by Helegad
Sektor
The radar needs to be in a folder with write permissions. Don't put it in c:\program files because that is usually protected even if you run as admin. Edited January 15, 2016 by Sektor
Jeansowaty
Sounds great! I can't believe that so many years after the release and you being on this forum, this mod was made. Congratulations
lastpackage
Yeah, that's the only missing thing in gta 2. If you inject this into the game, that will be double amazing. I know that's possible. What language is this? You'll publish the source code?
Sektor
It's C++ and my horrible source code is included with the download. My code reads the coordinates from GTA2 and displays the images/icons. gta2minimap.exe generates the empty map image jpeg, the source code for that is not included since that was coded by T.M. and I don't have the code for it. Overlay/inject is possible but I've never done it before and GTA2 modding scene/tools are very primitive compared to the newer GTA games. There's no cheat menu with an overlay or anything like that yet. Edited January 16, 2016 by Sektor

slowhands111
I tried this mod with Win XP but it didn't work for me, I can only get a black window. Is windows XP not supported? But I like the idea in generell, a limited map with good information in one corner of the screen is even better then the usual very small minimap (rotating GPS) in other GTA-titels, which makes orientation still difficult. Sektor
I haven't tested it on XP but it should work. I'll give it a try when I get time.
slowhands111
I tried it on windows 7, and it works fine. I played 11.44 in a window 1400 x 1050 on a full HD monitor, and the map window in the corner is resizable, which is nearly perfect (although things are getting a bit small).
