How will the 2010s be remembered?

We're in 2016, how will this decade be looked upon years down the line? What era is this? What makes it stand out, and will it be a high or low point in history?

I'm not trying to sound edgy or anything, but it will probably be remembered for having really sh*tty mainstream music.

It seems to be another major technology decade. I'm sure the tech that's being revealed every day within this decade will make an impact on how we grow in the future as well. Music was really sh*t towards the first year or two in the 2010s, but now it's definitely better. In terms of world news, ISIS will be remembered for a long time.

I could see this decade getting underrated. Many first or second steps of great inventions of the future will link back to this time, IMO.

Major upheaval, migration of people and terror attacks....

The news for this decade has just sucked!

sh*tty music, technology, and booty. Hmm.

I feel like the 2000's will take the terrorist label instead of the 2010s, but...yeah, you can certainly make the case we're still in the same funk we were in ten-twelve years ago.

Well, Obama's legacy is a whole different topic. I'd imagine it would be pretty split down the middle.

quality sh*tposts like mr webby's here, for one thing.

Also, to all the people saying bad music, that's not something unique to this decade, and this decade hasn't had an abundance of it over other decades. There's always been bad music.

Anyway, I'd go with technology. The 2000's saw the start of portable consumer computers, but this is the first decade where we're in the full swing of smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches, plus wearable tech is becoming a thing, not to mention all the other things coming to fruition like VR.

Also jetpacks. Not consumer ready, but...jetpacks.

ShadowPerson

Dawn and rising of the social networks

A new level of global communications

Everything can be recorded, everywhere, anywhere at anytime

Finally realizing that privacy doesnt exist

More aware of how divided can be the societies

The rising need to depends on technology

How something like a smartphone change our interactions.

Be everywhere but not there

Social networks gave voices to good people, bad people, terrible human beings, ignorants and trolls

Yes you are right on the Music front. Throughout History, only the good Songs have been recorded. I'm sure the likes of Mozart, and other Famous Composers have Written some bad Songs. :^:

Mozart didn't write songs...

But I bet that for every good thing he 'composed', there were ten pages of crap that he churned out and dismissed as useless.

Well probably look at it the way we do low tech things these days. All of this technology.

This decade felt like a crappy sequel to the 2000s, to be honest. I'm just looking forward to what the '20s might bring.

It's hard to mark it out and define it when we're in the middle of it, even the 00's are still quite hard to do that to. Gay marriage probably will be remembered in years to come, and general "social change" like more acceptance of trannies, and (probably (unfortunately)) the first female U.S. president. The resurgence of an emboldened Russia, increase in Islamic extremism, Europe nice personing itself. In terms of music, I think it's actually been fine. Fashion feels harder to pinpoint, the 1900 decades fashion seemed much more defined and clearer, but this decade and the previous decade it's quite hard to say what the definitive fashion and style has been.

There's still 4 years to come yet, so lots could still happen that would drastically affect how we remember this decade.

What you got against nice person? nice person is a great word. It's the word of 2015.

You're just salty 'cos it's a derogatory term for what you believe in. You'd love nothing more than to have the mightiest of mighty nice people happen, aka borders and nations fall followed by an inrush of cultural enrichment right into Europe's gaping vaginal opening. You live for that. You're MakeTotalnice person.

I'm not salty, I just don't understand the far-right's obsession with nice personolding. It's unsettling, really.

I feel like eventually you're just gonna ask me to come over and f*ck your girlfriend while you watch.

Come on MTD, he's not a Nazi. Sure, Stu and I disagree on a lot of things but If he were a Nazi then he and I would not be friends, I say that emphatically.
