this is action comedy gold. I honestly didn't expect anything good out of this. looking at the topic, it feels like your everyday mafia mission pack. I was dead wrong when I assumed that

 

first, the plot itself. this is probably the only real common thing that you can see in other mission packs because it's nothing new. however, the way the story is being told is quite creative and I really liked following it that way

the missions technically are okay. no real errors, no bugs, everything is good here

the gameplay is simple, yet amazing. I really like the 'step-by-step' shootouts you've implemented, great way of moving the mission further (even though sometimes actors appear out of air due to that). there is little to no driving too, which doesn't make the missions artificially longer. I must say I didn't like the last mission (as of now), that one became boring and tedious very quickly, I hope you're not going to do more shootouts like that

now, the dialogues are what make this mission pack great. when you play the first mission, it doesn't feel interesting... up until the point where the protagonist says 'a f*cking cargobob'. I genuinely laughed at this, and many other lines throughout the whole mission pack

and one of the best things this project has is breaking the 4th wall. even though it happens 2 or 3 times, it is delivered brilliantly. I especially liked one part where the mission made fun of its own loud soundtrack

 

this project has its disadvantages. for example, the use of apostrophes sometimes is unnecessary ('wen't' being one of the words I especially would like to point out) or words like 'hes' instead of 'his'. this is nitpicking however as it doesn't take away the fun

also, as I've said, due to 'step-by-step' gameplay, actors sometimes appear out of nowhere (best seen in 'Bone County Cemetery' mission)

the sounds are way too loud at times, and become repetitive (good example is Vietnam missions, where the same looped track is used)

 

well, I guess that's about it. you got me hooked up, so I now anticipate the next chapter, please don't disappoint me. as for the rating, 3.5/5 (for now)

Hmm... Yeah.... wow... I didn't expect hearing this much support from you to be honest. Thank you so much for that detailed review. And yeah, chapter 1 was made in January (i didn't make a difference with ''hes'' and ''his'' back then. Looking forward for the next review :^: !

Alright, so i did played the Chapter one & tow as well, i think you did a decent job to be honest, pretty english you has there you could also avoid some spelling as well, the variety of the mission are good so far i liked the gameplays too, also the dialogues are intresting, that's all for now i love to keep my reviews simple as i can, i'd give you 4/5 for now, looking for the last chapter.

UPDATE: For those who are interested in what's the progress of Chapter 3, i am adding a sh*tload of variety in the final mission of Chapter 3:

so after completing the final chapters I can say I was in a way disappointed. you still delivered though

 

first I want to talk about the disadvantages, and the biggest one is shootouts. well, most of them. I liked that you used the 'step-by-step' technique you've been using in the previous chapters, but the enemies made the shootouts tedious because of their health and 'lack' of headshots. it also made a couple of missions longer (good example is 'Chinatown Wars, part 2')

with this comes the problem I've talked about in my previous review - actors pop out of nowhere. it's not exactly a crucial mistake, but it looks kinda lazy

and again, grammatical mistakes

 

however, the redeeming qualities outweigh the disadvantages for me

the storytelling is still creative and well-executed (although sometimes Joey and James jump around the map and end up in places unlikely for them)

the soundtrack got WAY better and doesn't feel repetitive anymore

you did a great job with object and vehicle placement, and the variety is great too

the endings are good in that they are different from one another. you have an ambiguous good ending, a neutral-bad ending, and an ultimate evil ending (which I especially liked because of gameplay difference)

the story became way more serious towards the end too, so there was less humor, but the bits that were present in the last chapters still brought a smile to my face

 

in the end, I'll give this whole thing a 4/5. it's a good mission pack that stands out among other typical crime stories

So i finished your mp and here's my review for the entire project sorry for took me so long been playing other mps too.

 

First of all the presentation excellent! the story and the dialogs within the cutscenes are presented with a perfect way.

 

The writing is also excellent few mistakes but only if you notice them.

 

So here i come to difficulty.Medium-Hard.I actually died seven times seriously.Also forced to activate cheats for weapons because i ran out of ammo and health only however there are quite body armor and health packs but they are not enough since their accuracy is high.

 

Well about the length is very good! took me 8-9 minutes to beat each mission.Although the whole mp took me around six hours to beat!

 

Variety. A lot of actors, objects.The cutscenes lasts as long as the description.Also the storytelling is interesting enough.The story is very good to keep the missions going and the flashbacks makes the story part more interesting.On the other hand the soundtracks are very good and fit exactly with the currect situation.

 

So 9/10 from me. Overall it was a awesome mp but i found the difficulty hard in some missions that forced me to activate cheats.

Thank you everyone for your reviews! The reason for the difficulty is because i wanted to make it harder since it was close to the finale.

Alright! Kevin! I've played this MP of yours, here's my review:

 

Presentation: Not bad, the dialogs and story that i saw is good ;):^::^::^:

 

Spelling and Grammars: There's some misunderstanding and few mistakes i saw every each chapter, but that's okay, next time, be more careful and try to figure each dialogue

 

Length: Each chapter i've played is taking me a 10-12 minutes to beat them.

 

Difficulty: Man, this is bad, this is so very hard for me to play, i almost killed when playing the finale :sui: , and i have no choice now i use cheats instead picking a pickups :(. Next time, you need to elaborate and configured it.

 

Variety: So many actors and objects, the story you've made was really good, huh, just like a story of Mad men, joke :p . Anyway, i'm also interest in your work, huh ;) keep it up, and try to elaborate next time.

 

Overall:

4.5/10 is a pretty decent score. It means somewhat "regular mission" I guess.

People are just using 10/10 phrases to make them look "nice" in the community and have hopes for that others will be "nice" to this person beacause he goes around giving 10/10's to everyone.

I've seen really really horrible missions getting 10/10's who has grammar misstakes and really awful cutscenes.

 

If you get 10/10 rating, most of the time, dont listen to it. 8/10 or 7/10 is more understandable but its still a bit high.

It seems like the DYOM community have set some kind of "it has to be between 7 or 10 or else it sucks" But that's not true.

 

This is really like a 1 - 3 rating system beacause 7 8 9 and 10 is the only ratings being used.

 

Dont take his 4/10 as a negative thing :) He's just being honest with ya.

Okay so I finished chapter 1 and I'll be starting with your plot:

 

The plot was pretty interesting and easy to follow. I got very interested in the middle of everything what happened to the truck.

The missions were all nice combined and the story felt like it was flowing. It had a decent difficulty but it wasnt hard in as "solve a puzzle" or "make up your own stragety" It was hard in the way that you didnt have alot of health and the actors were hitting pretty hard on you. (Yes I did cheat)

 

The writing was pretty good, you could see that you sometimes rushed through the dialouges with forgetting a big I and such. But the writing was pretty decent, better than most people in the DYOM community. I think if you go back to your missions and play test them you also would see misspelled words and that you forgot the big I. But the writing was Good.

 

The lenght of the missions was perfect, it felt like it took forever to finish while it didn't which made the MP much much more enjoyable, good job on that part.

The introduction was very well made and it made you get into the story very quickly.

 

Your object placement was really good. I liked the way you blocked some ways in the (3rd mission)? with rocks.

 

The cutscenes had perfect angles and were really enjoyable to watch. You did really good on that part.

 

The shootouts, here comes some dislike from me, the shootouts wasnt really that great, there was nothing to hide behind and there was just too many enemies infront of you (I'm talking about the FBI mission with the shotguns)

Seriously, sawn off shotgun can 1-shot you if you stand too close, and the problem was too that you also had a sawn off shotgun and the actors was just as strong as you. And the shootouts felt a bit repetitive beacause it was almost the same thing in all of them. "Go here" "Shoot that guy"

Here's a tip for the future: You could've made it more interesting if there were other ways around than just shooting them. For example, in the mission when you were a military you could blow up TNT's. The only problem there was that the TNT's didnt even hurt the enemies. They just hurted you.

You could've also given us 1-3 objects to hide behind.

 

The car chases was.. I wont even talk about this one xD

 

Overall I give this MP a 7/10. Highly recommends it to everyone to try out. If you like shootouts in missions hell, you'll enjoy this alot.

Thanks allot for your review PresidentShark! The reason i didn't redo for that pathetic chase scene in the 3rd mission is because i had the entire mission finished already. It happened right after i completed the last objective for the 3rd mission (lol)

So, after playing this series, I wanna give my honest feedbacks:

 

 

Overall, the difficulty is in between medium and hard. It's good, but I have complains for the 3 final missions of chapter 3.

 

Why all those enemies must have 1000 health and in the beginning of every missions I only armed with 9mm? Wouldn't it be enough if you just variate their health ranging from 250 and 500? This isn't really challenging but annoying and wasting times, I had to use minigun from cheat menu mod instead.

 

I fail to find this series as a "Great", I understand that gunfights is your favorite mission type and Original Made Man game has every missions as gunfights but, why don't offer at least 2 or 3 fun or unique missions in each chapters? It's just that I felt like I played the same missions over and over again. I mean, what's the point of remaking something if you only makes major differences in term of story and put GTA VC and GTA V references in it? Doing that will only dropping the quality of your projects.

 

The use of objects is good, but a hut and an electricity chamber in a desert runway plane? Don't make any sense if you ask me.

 

The Cutscenes are very well done, though not perfect because of the same highlights over and over again.

 

You did great in character developments, I almost felt like I was Joey during my playthrough. And great story too.

 

For the ending, I chose B because for me, wealth and crime life aren't everything. Sure every crime families are after me and Johnny, and James leave me alone forever. But I rather try to test a weakened backstabber. After I helped him, would he still betray me or no? And I'm glad no. I just fell something will not right if I impress my boss. He could probably betray me too because I no longer am a use for him.

 

As for the chase mission, you made the chase takes place in an alley. You can't do that, it's impossible. Use general roadways instead.

 

Why published this as storyline if you only have to put "DYOMX.dat" files? Wouldn't that make this project as Mission Pack? You can publish it as MP if you make the file format as winrar zip.

 

 

 

Overall Rating: 6/10

 

With touching storyline, good characters developments, and almost enjoyable difficulties, "Made Men" is a good project for shooting missions fans.

You spawn with a 9mm because it is Joey Parola's favorite choice of weapons. Yeah on the second thought, it's ridiculous having 1000 HP on enemies at start.

Yeah i am not good at doing something ''unique'' I am only good doing remakes. Rise of The Families was the only project i actually thought on my own, and we all remember how crap it was.

For the desert, i wanted to add ALLOT of objects. I didn't even know half the stuff i put there, i just selected big objects i could find :p...

 

Nah no way Johhny will betray Joey after he experienced near death moment. Fun fact, it's unknown if Joey got to be a Made Man at the end of Ending A or did he just get executed.

EDIT: Actually NVM, Joey got to be a Made Man at Ending A because that was the goal of his journey so lets let Ending A be Joey's happy ending.

 

 

 

Overall i really appreciate your review!
