Missed a few more blog posts, but nothing really important up until now.

http://blog.scssoft.com/2016/04/arizona-road-network.html

Summary:

-"Arizona is not just more of the same"

-"For Arizona, the ATS team is using the power of the new modular system to put the road network together"

-"Things look sharper with higher resolution textures and better continuity of segments"

-The modular system allows for more variety of "shoulds and side-walks" as well as aiding the creation of realistic intersections.

-They've tried to make road types more clearly separated which should allow for "harmonised and more logical" speed limits.

-"An extensive system of horizontal marking makes the roads and intersections look more authentic. We have also improved the coverage of warning and information markings for Arizona."
Screens w/ some, if any, observations.

Traffic seems to be f*cked trying to join the highway.

Looks like another case of 'traffic's f*cked'

-NVM- Just me being odd, as I said :D
Also... Traffic.

They do publish shots with increased traffic, makes it look a little more interesting than bland intersections....

Whether it's a bug or intentional is open to debate.

Your best bet is to register on the SCS forums and ask there. They are a nice, friendly lot and there are plenty of tutorials as well to help you on your way.

http://forum.scssoft.com

I can vouch for this.

I''m on the scs forums too, I'm working on a "Used Trucks" mod for ETS2. I just always thought it was dumb that the cost of an Actros MP3 (that went out of production in '11) was £79k, when you could buy a brand new Actross MP4 for £81k. Whos gonna buy the old one? So I am adding older restyled trucks with realistic prices, different condition levels, higher maintenance costs, some are retextured to show wear, and a lot of other stuff really, theres lots more info. If its likely to be interesting to anyone, theres an in-progress beta available and the development topic is here: http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=203255

ATS has more traffic compared to ETS2, it's already like this now ;)

Uhm, no wait. In those screenshots there is a lot of traffic...

I agree ATS generally has a wider variety and density of traffic, but those shots look a little too 'artifically' high.

Don't ask me where, but I'm sure somewhere in the game files there's something you can edit to increase the amount of traffic. I would say a pretty high end rig is preferable though or you'd start to tank your computer.

Can't speak for ATS but in ETS2, theres a number at

def/traffic_data.sii

.traffic_data : .traffic.data {	# max_vehicle_count: 50 # Total AI vehicle count limit (including trucks)

Started to play ETS2 again. It's funny how a few modders (ProMods) can make a better map than SCS for the original game. I hope they keep updating the mods.

You can add Rusmap to that as well.... Since Promods and the Rusmap team are co-operating and co-developing, Rusmap supply an extra crossing points and integration patch, it actually fills out the map further and the Rusmap quality is only a step behind what Promods has done. They have done an exceptional job at actually making sure that Belarus and Russia itself really feel like the lands they are portraying, right down to how run down and limited some of the 'backwater' areas feel.

Moscow and St Petersburg are modern and clean as you approach the centre, but even the outer suburbs feel some way behind. Then you get to towns like Veilky Novgorod and you really do suspect it's still firmly in the early 90's.

The homepages are Russian, but the SCS forums have an English page hosted by one of their forum mods and he does a stellar job of keeping everyone up to date, I get all the downloads from there, in the same 7zip format as Promods.

Rusmap was on hold for me since I am actually playing like if i was a truck company from Andorra that supplied logistics to small countries such as; Andorra, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and the Faroe Islands.

But i also want to try the Rusmap so i'll give it a try soon.

Got to admit I also jumped back to ETS after having ATS just about completely covered, I know it's a lot more developed game but you can see how much futher it's got, and it shows good hope for ATS's future.

Tried Rusmap. Really enjoyed driving through some towns in Belarus and Russia.

Yes promods and rusmap is pretty much a "must get" for ETS2. That and a few trailer packs and it really makes it a lot more immersive and interesting. I also run my own realistic economy mod for a bit more of a challenge. I always try not to over-mod games but a few little tweaks really just makes this one so much better.

Steam is slacking with its notifications again -.-

Anyway... Some paint job DLCs

http://blog.scssoft.com/2016/05/italian-and-slovak-paintjob-dlcs-for.html

Just some things I thought might be worth picking out of the article

"There is some big stuff in production in our labs"

"SCS has been on a hiring spree in recent months" hiring "four new talented developers".

SCS may be moving or may expand their current area to accommodate more staff.

By the way, if anyone wants to increase their traffic, it can be done by doing the following:

Go to either My Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2 or My Documents\American Truck Simulator

Open the file config.cfg in either Notepad or Notepad++

Go to the line uset g_traffic "1.0"

Change the value to uset g_traffic "2.0" or your preferred number.

Save and reopen the game.

Expect performance hits on older hardware as there is more traffic, naturally. This method can also be used to reduce traffic by changing it to uset g_traffic "0.5" or similar.

When editing the config.cfg, you should only change values in " "

Some more stuff. Just some stuff about world of trucks

http://blog.scssoft.com/2016/05/coming-soon-to-world-of-trucks.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ScsSoftwaresBlog+%28SCS+Software%27s+blog%29

There's going to be some tweaks to external contracts and support is going to be improved/added for ETS2 DLC and ATS.

There was also a mention of something called hardcore trailer connecting mode

An open beta shouldn't be too far down the road. Probably a couple of weeks away.

Also, some a sneak peek of some map changes. I'll let you guys find them :D

The latest blog has appeared and it has good news of further new features, Advanced Trailer Coupling :

http://blog.scssoft.com/2016/05/advanced-trailer-coupling.html

Basically it ups the realism again and actually makes you perform the mechanical coupling of the fifth wheel to the trailer, instead of just pressing a key.

A bit more of a challenge....

The vid also hints at further truck customisation options arriving soon (New ETS mudguards)

Interesting...

Stealing an idea from the blog for this one, but why go into all that detail and not include trailer cables? Seems like a strange thing to do imo.

Would be cool if they let us get out and walk around in first person to pump gas and/or connect the cables to the trailer :p

New police car or just something I've never noticed before? Spawned just outside of Sacramento.

UROnso2.jpg

-EDIT-

Started to notice more of them while going down I-5

Sneaky RR crossing in Flagstaff made to catch you out by the looks of it. Placed quite close to a set of lights.

41ThRNp.jpg

Another new vehicle (Dodge RAM-esque) or just something I haven't noticed before? -I'll try and find one in the day later-

hRuzvxR.jpg

This type of drop off is making a comeback :)

78m9xBl.jpg

Some other things I'm noticing:

Gear changes are much smoother and much quicker.

Auto trans is definitely more usable than before.

The air horn is a thing :)

The W900 now has the air intake whine

My truck seems to be pulling better than before.

AI trucks pulling the chem trailer with the beacon are using the beacon.

There's an incredibly harsh and sudden speed change at Flagstaff, 65MPH to 25MPH when coming from route 89, same goes for I-17 (which isn't labeled on the map for whatever reason).

The AI seems to be a bit off in places as well...

There seems to be some sort of speed limiter that can't be turned off. The option in the settings is also grayed out so I guess this might be the case.

Also the map does want to go all the way over and zoom in on Arizona. It'll always just zoom straight into what used to be the edge of the map before Arizona was added.

But I really like the advanced trailer coupling.

It's looking pretty good, so far. Arizona is totally different from Cali and Nevada and the layout construction is much more modern.

Yeah, it does seem good. I've all but 2 cities unlocked now and liking the expansion.

Also, after a quick spell on MP I seem to be the only person not driving a W900  I find the windscreen too small and visibility terrible, currently my fleet is mainly Peterbilt, bar 1 W900 and 1 of the other Kenworth

If you're doing an External WOT Contract you are limited to 65 MPH because dipshits use 10000hp engine mods and WOT is trying to simulate a somewhat realistic economy. The map issue is temporary, as it is a beta after all. Edited by einjzmolf

Ahh that explains it, also why the teleport wasn't working.
