We sort of already know this but it just got an official announcement...

-Working on 1.23 for ETS2 and 1.2 for ATS

> Steam workshop support is being added

Sort of waffles on from that point.

- To upload mods you'll need the SCS workshop loader

The SCS forums are already full of mods and the process to plug them in is already pretty easy, Workshop support will just make it easier.

 

Speaking of mods, Promods has just gone to 2.01 and they have also released their first trailer pack, while Rusmap has just launched 1.6.1 which has a few new areas and rebuilds as well as bug fixing. Grab them both together if you use them so you do not have to start from base twice if you choose to activate them.

I guess most of the "famous" modders will immediately start sharing their mods there as it's much easier to do everything with the Workshop.

 

If I won't be lazy as I'm being now, I'll probally upload a few things there.

Go to Oxnard and you'll see the dangers of not turning wide enough and not giving way. The bakersfield gas station near chems is also a trouble hotspot, I've managed to grab a few clips from there.

There's also a thread on the TMP fourms for 'idiot drivers' which has a few decent clips in, but the forums are down atm because of a breach.

 

A personal favourite of what I've caught... I didn't have my steering setting set up right (gamepad/joystick, whatever it is, is so bad in this game imo. I've had to switch it to wheel to even have a hope of making some turns) so I wasn't willing to turn right at the lights, instead I went up to gallon, turned around and... Well... I had a good laugh, let's put it that way.

I haven't found many bad drivers in ATS yet, not enough to make a compilation. Meanwhile in ETS2 I'm at the 10th compilation, and 11th just needs to be uploaded.

-"there should not be more than a couple of months of solid work ahead of us" - Sounds like they seriously mean there's a lot of content left to be finished. Not sure what you guys are getting from that quote, but to me, that says we'll be waiting a few months before we even see Arizona.

- They (very loosely) hint towards a possibility of Arizona being in the open beta.

Might have known the dlc soon after release was a half life 3 soon but then again screen's look good and hopefully we will have some truck updates to tide us over in the mean time!

I'd keep an eye on sorsanpoika's posts. They seem to be some of the more decent ones in the thread tbh.

 

That makes me glad I don't play the multiplayer side, too many idiots to deal with.

It's honestly fairly rare to find bad drivers unless you actively search for them. If you mind your business and plan your routes to avoid bad areas you'll have an enjoyable experience.

 

That being said, the broken sounds on the W900 have made me go back to solely single player using mods. Not complaining, it's my preferred play style, but I was enjoying MP aside from the lack of mods.

Yeah, it's kind of a bummer sound mods don't work in multiplayer.

-Tyres are being separated into multiple components: Hubs, Hub covers and nuts.

- Coming to both ETS2 and ATS

- Paintable metal parts and crazy nut designs are hinted to be released in a small DLC (presumably, and hopefully free). No mention of a release date though.

 

Then there's also a video that they've put out to show this. I'd put it in, but since it's in Sweet Bellic's post I see no reason to put the video into this post.

Very easy. Download a .scs file and drop it into mods folder, then enable it in game. Done & enjoy.

It'll get even easier when steam workshop support rolls around, not to mention that there won't be any rediculously slow bandwidth caps.

This isn't even my final form, and I was pulling a load of cars heading to San Francisco. Didn't stay at this speed for long though, need to conserve some fuel :D

Gas tank says full but this thing uses gas like a Hummer on crack.

 

Edit: Also I don't know about you guys, but I FINALLY figured out how to stop on top of hills and off ramps without having my engine stalling :happy:

Bonjour truckers!

We are on the verge of releasing open betas for a new update of both ETS2 and ATS, but we still need to iron out a few details and go through another internal testing pass or two to make sure that there are no profile-breaking issues.

So instead of talking Open Beta already, let us show you a little bit of new France that we are working on for Euro Truck Simulator 2. These are a bit raw screenshots where you still can see some placeholder models, a sort of a peek behind the shoulder of a map designer as he still keeps working on his area. Our goal with the new map DLC is to improve the feel of authenticity once again compared to any of our previous work.

ETS 2 1.23 open beta is now up on steam.

-Steam Workshop beta support

-The old SCS workshop uploader app from one or two stories ago. Available later today.

-Wheel customisation has been expanded (I presume this is just for the beta as of right now)

 

Some other stuff...

-Traffic offences can be disabled in the settings menu

-Navigation path can be disabled

-Option to keep the route advisor hidden while getting new notifications

-Autopark can be disabled

-Speeding highlight on route advisor

-Smart cruise control can use the engine brake (when active) when no retarder is present (I believe this is already a thing in ATS)

-"Advanced shifting simulation"

-"real shifter layouts (Scania, Volvo, ZF)"

-Improved truck stability during retarder usage

-"Ai improvements"

-Traffic offence fines scale with player level.
