Bighead_Brian
Seeing that the Steam Summer Sale is on, i'm gonna try and grab my hands on Washington, as i want to keep up to date with ATS and keep going with map mods such as C2C (Coast 2 Coast), Canadream, and Viva Mexico (whatever it's called) As for ETS, i'm more focused on that, but recently i've been having issues with mods related to my favorite truck, DAF XF (and the DAF XF105), as a mod installed by vad&k seems to cause my game to freeze at short notice which is driving me nuts, idk if i might've installed the mod incorrectly, but i also installed a reworked DAF XF Euro 6 version, so idk if it could be that too, will eventually photograph my mod list and the mods in the main ETS2 interface. It's becoming more common, as i took a job from Finland to France, but i'm stuck in Germany atm, so i'll dig and see what i can do, i've posted about it on the SCS forum on the modders thread, so i'll see how i can fix this freeze bug. As for now, i'll leave this message with a photo of my DAF XF105. Geisterfaust
Coleco
Oh cool, I didn't know we had a topic for ETS and ATS here I've only come to ATS recently but already having a surprising amount of enjoyment out of it - clocked up 38 hours without even trying! Already got the Washington expansion too, though I'm still mainly moving between Nevada and Cali for the most part with my teeny haulage firm of two trucks. I'm currently running ATS on an 8 year old Dell with an antiquated graphics card but hopefully soon i'll be able to get myself a much better machine to improve my visuals (and framerate!). I kinda want to get into modding too, mostly so I can attempt to make some bespoke long haul trips of my own. I know SGS has forums and resources, but thought i'd ask as i'm posting already - has anyone here attempted map mods (ATS specifically)? Uncle Sikee Atric
@Coleco I've dabbled with ATS maps, but I'm more into the ETS2 side of it, (Promods, Rusmap and some smaller plugins, like Paris Rebuilding.) I've tried C2C and although it offers a lot of new content, it's very much all copied and pasted and made as a 'rush-job' just to offer more driving opportunity, so if you want to use it, I'd suggest also look at some of the extra plugins on the SCS forum for it as well, to expand on certain regions. They're made by teams that actually want to offer new content. I've also tried the Viva Mexico and Mexico Extremo maps (the free versions, not paying for the content), they are good extensions and offer some really challenging map regions, but they're not the best quality, although the teams have stopped expanding to concentrate on polish with the last few updates, so they're getting there. Going North however, I've not tried anything with Canadream, although I have watched a few streams. It seems as rushed as C2C in places, a lot of copy / paste and not much new. I am waiting for the Promods ATS expansion as they've committed to building Canada themselves and already have a region off the Washington map for Vancouver and BC under construction. You can keep up with the dev team and find the actual maps once it's ready, by making an account at promods.net . The plugin system and the modlist make everything easy once you come to adding mods, it's just adding the maps to the documents/american truck sim/modlist directory and making sure everything is in *.scs format (although a few .zips also work, more with the modelling side.) Most maps require a few .scs files to work (for the map, actual model resources, etc), but everything comes with readmes to follow and the community forums will help with compatibility problems, so long as you keep error logs for people to cross check. One word of caution. Try and stick with maps that have listing pages on the SCS forums. There's a few others and the quality of the communities can vary greatly, or force you to download via paywall links. If you want to try them, do a little research first and try to find a streamer or YT channel that has tried it. they'll tell you what to expect as part of obtaining the map. For instance, the Rusmap team are great, but their homepage forum is all Russian and Google translate can help some, but the language barrier is a pain. It's best to wait for the SCS page to be updated, which normally only takes 24 hours or so for them to get to. The only page I tend to trust away from the SCS forums is Jazzycat's homepage for his traffic and cargo mods, for both ATS and ETS2. He still works in Russian, but the page is dual language and Jazzy himself is a nice guy. ---------- UPDATE EDIT : The Blog has just been updated and it's confirmed that Utah is the next state for ATS, due before the end of the year. They've also opened the Steam Page. Coleco
Coleco
Thanks @Uncle Sikee Atric ! I've stuck to the SCS official sources so far, will have to spend some time browsing their forums. Already found a couple of handy tutorials for making custom truck textures which work in the latest build of the game. If I can work out how to add a new location to the map i'll be happy, though I suspect this will be quite a bit of work (or at least poking around in the code to get it to appear/function correctly). Happy to see that another state has been announced so soon after the last update. I'm hoping ATS will last long enough for the devs to give us an 'official' Minnesota somewhere down the line Geisterfaust

Started ETS recently and enjoying the relaxation it brings. On the matter of the graphics, don't really bother: it's not a game where it matters a lot: I've installed some serious mods and running it at 4k, but it can't change how old the engine is. Even with the new trees and weather effects, new tarmac and other high-res textures. Promods are nice, however, so you should start with them when you will be able to. What I want to say is that this game is not getting the love from the eye candy. Coleco

For instance, take the Renault Range T in ETS2. The official model has been done for ages and SCS thought they would have it released last year (We have Blog screenshots from it running on French Roads as the France DLC development ended), but then legalities got in the way. Volvo Trucks own Renault Trucks and supply the D13 Engines for them, so those two teams were happy, but then Renault Cars share the badges and they are the ones with the legal complaints over the truck becoming official, especially because there are models for Renault Cars in the traffic, that have different badges. It's a legal nightmare as you can imagine. But Renault Cars seem to be becoming satisfied, hopefully the official model will arrive soon. universetwisters and asadog2

I remember downloading a mod for it back in January, was pretty cool but i felt like it could do better... As for ETS2, i managed to fix the game by deleting a few mods (Also deleted the RJL Scania mod due to it being buggy, but can't guarantee it as the main cause of my game crashes) For now, here's two pictures i took with the Volvo FH16 Classic, decided to put some snow in, it's July ok don't heckle me. As for the DLC's related, i do plan on grabbing my hands on Washington in August, i've been a bit caught up in life, Utah i will also grab because i want to keep up to date with map DLC in single player. Uncle Sikee Atric
Another blog post today, announcing the full release of the Renault Range T's, after a few weeks of quiet teases on Twitter and from Renault Trucks themselves. This is a free update that doesn't alter the main version number, so we're still on 1.35. It just suggests how long the legal wrangling has taken! https://blog.scssoft.com/2019/09/renault-trucks-t-range.html?fbclid=IwAR30_glvAvk_rGucutfkU1T9L_CreESxPXO8-4S3uaaoJHSShbp0lMlouK4 Enjoy. asadog2

Uncle Sikee Atric
Okay, this is one to read and be aware this will be coming for ETS2 very shortly as well.... https://blog.scssoft.com/2019/10/american-truck-simulator-ob-136.html It's the Open Beta for ATS once more and there a couple of disclaimers, right at the top of the post : ---------- A word of warning first - avoid this Beta if you are planning on completing any more deliveries in Pink Ribbon Event - it's not supported on 1.36 and you WON'T be able to go back to any older version of the game with a profile modified by the 1.36 version of the game. There are core changes, including a different save version - so back up the profiles that you want to keep (do a manual back up just to be sure) using on 1.35 or older versions. A big focus of the update is on DirectX 11 (11.1 to be exact). We've decided to drop support for DirectX 9 for the sake of faster and easier development. So from Update 1.36 onwards, our games won't be compatible with systems running on DirectX 9. --------- So 1.35 will be the Legacy version and everything is now full DX11.1 going forwards. The other big change is the fact your own drivers are visible on map now. The full changelog for the Beta is : MAP Santa Cruz (CA) revamp Flagstaff (AZ) revamp California speed limit improvements Oregon and New Mexico speed limit and general sign improvements VEHICLES Grain hopper trailer (ownable) Bulk feed trailer (ownable) Frac-tank trailer FEATURES Avoid pins for GPS navigation Drivers / Trucks / Trailer visible on manager map DirectX 11 full support (DirectX 9 removed) Chinese and other non-Latin character input (IME) Anti-aliasing improvements (SMAA, electric-wires) New loading screens MOD Sun profile changes (HDR) License plate changes for AI (data-driven types, background texture data) Dashboard display UI elements (digital gauges, fuel consumption bar) Map editor history (undo/redo) Continuous selection of nodes jpm1 and asadog2
Uncle Sikee Atric
And today the Blog has been posting a teaser update for ETS2. As part of the 1.36 update coming very soon, they're throwing in Corsica for owners of the France DLC, including 6 new cities : ---------- EDIT : Went mucking around on the ATS 1.36 Beta, since I've finished my Pink Ribbon work. The performance is much better and I now have 3 figure FPS when in the cab, with all mirrors. But I went to Flagstaff and saw an interesting new building prop : Looks like International Trucks have signed their liscensing for the trucks to come to the game. I guess they'll arrive as the beta ends. jpm1, asadog2 and Geisterfaust
Uncle Sikee Atric
Here we go again, now it's the turn of ETS2 for the Beta, and the same disclaimer is in effect, don't test it if you're still performing your Pink Ribbon event as it finishes in a few days, and this version no longer has DX9 support, but the ATS-style diversions are now in play, and Corsica is added. The full changelist is : MAP Corsica (Vive la France! DLC) FEATURES Detours Avoidance navigation pins New AI vehicles Drivers / Trucks / Trailer visible on manager maps DX11 full support (DX9 removed) Chinese and other non-Latin character input (IME) Anti-aliasing improvements (SMAA, el. wires item) MOD Sun profile changes (HDR) LP changes for AI (data-driven types, background texture data) Dash display UI elements (digital gauges, fuel consumption bar) Map editor history (undo/redo) Continuous selection of nodes asadog2
jpm1
interesting, but weird, definitely weird. i'm Corsican from my mother, and Corsica is not a place for trucks/truckers. lot of small, and dangerous roads. a place for no trailers trucks maybe, but not for large trucks. however this is interesting, and i'll give it a try. but i don't except much from this. i would have prefered Croatia, or similar, or even a bit more of Russia

It's not sarcasm, just interesting before buy it. ETS2 : The Base Game is fine, then you can add map expansions later, but wait for a sale if possible, because Going East, Scandinavia and France can be picked up for pennies, with savings on the more recent maps of Italy and Beyond The Baltic Sea. About the only time you don't find savings is the latest map, which will be Road To The Black Sea this evening. If you want extra detail, just invest in the Heavy Haulage and Special Cargo DLC's, to allow you to haul the extra trailers. But there's also detail in the 'Branded Trailer DLC's' and better tyres with the Michelin Pack. All these are just pennies on sales, the rest is cosmetic. ATS : Again, just start with the base game, then pick up the older map expansions for very cheap on sales (New Mexico, Oregon) and savings on Washington and Utah. The next expansion will be announced shortly after Xmas with a late Spring / Summer release. (Quiet rumor is that it'll be Idaho as there's a big piece of I-84 currently missing, that links Utah and further south to Oregon and Washington). Other than that, you just need the Special Cargo trailers. ---------- Today is the release of Road To The Black Sea for ETS2, after the 1.36 Beta ended earlier this week. It's here at 6pm CET and they've released the new map, highlighting the area covered. Now this is released, no doubt World Of Trucks will be having another Chrimbo event in the coming days. BobbyThreeSticks
I've had this game since it came out, but I just today found my way back to it (partly thanks to stumbling on to this thread). Started a new company (Amway Freight Co.) and did a few quick jobs just to get some cashflow, then bought this little rig pictured here outside of the company headquarters. In keeping with the name of the company, I decided to keep the colors of the company trucks red, white and blue in this cool paint-scheme. Here are some shots from the first two runs. Did Redding, CA to Oregon somewhere, then Oregon to Yakima, WA. The plan now is to raise approx. $100K to repay the loan on the truck, then take out a new loan to upgrade the garage, buy another truck and hire a driver. Going to try to expand rather aggressively, but we shall see what happens.
