Uncle Sikee Atric
Euro Truck Sim 2 might have been out for a few years, but American Truck Sim launches in less than a month.... With all the modding, mapping and freedom the games offer, it seems odd there isn't a thread here about them. A few of us actually admit we like the games and I have spent about 700 hours in ETS2. Personally, I put on some podcasts or tunes, mod the game out and chill for a few runs. Right now I am hauling a load of smoked eel from Pshkov in Russia to Andorra. (Tells you what map mods I run.) So feel free to post your pics and admit your guilty secret here.... If you have a problem, some of us might be even able to help. Also, let's see who is willing to admit they are looking forwards to the release of ATS. I'll start with my World Of Trucks profile : https://www.worldoftrucks.com/en/online_profile.php?id=8158 And my best piccy so far in the editor : *MURDOC*, Flachbau, Sweet Bellic and 1 other
Coin
Never quite got into Euro Truck Simulator 2, but the premise is interesting enough that I might grab the American one on release. At least if the price is decent, if not wait a while.
Raindancer
Strangely I found ET2 very relaxing. If I was driving in the UK I would setup live streams to local radio stations in the area I was driving (Edinburgh FM in Scotland) then Kisstory in England, in France, Polland, Germany I would find a local station and just listen to that whilst driving around. I never really took advantage of many mods, only the increase speed to about 400 MPH and dense traffic mad for an interesting journey!
Th3MaN1
I have about 10 hours in ETS2, but I currenty stopped for the moment. Not getting into it currently, but I didn't uninstall the game yet, which means I'll get back to it. Though I never thought about listening to podcasts and such while driving, which, in retrospect, is pretty brilliant.
?!=+_-
I played a bit the other day because it was on sale for £2.99, was worth a try for that price and glad I did. But yesterday my wheel wasn't working with it so I didn't play.
dewtech
I put like 500 hours into ETS2 before my PC died, one of the few games that I support modding on. I even bought a G27 for it which now sits collecting dust. If it came to PS4 I'd be back playing in a shot Edited January 7, 2016 by dewtech_2008 Flachbau and Uncle Sikee Atric
TheMcSame
*Insert obligatory comment about ETS2's multiplayer mod* http://www.ets2mp.com/ As for ATS... Ehhh... I'm waiting on the price. It'll be interesting to drive around with a much larger truck and trailer though. I mean, 53 foot trailers... That's as long as a normal truck and trailer combo in the EU, give or take a few feet. As long as Trameri isn't in America I'm fine, damn places gives an Actros enough trouble as it is, never mind freakishly large American trucks and trailers. Flachbau
If it came to PS4 I'd be back playing in a shot I would like to see a version of ETS2 or even ATS on current generation consoles. A lot of the cities aren't super detailed anyway, and most don't differ from others.. so maybe one day? I can't wait for ATS, though. The hype is f*cking real

universetwisters
I played ETS2 and it was great fun. Reminded me of back in my childhood when I would play those "18 Wheels of Steel" games. One thing that'd be interesting for them to do would be to have Euro Truck simulator set in the 1980s or some other era of time in the past. They had a bus simulator that took place back then (Omsi?), so it'd be interesting to see what that would be like. Trucking all over the former West Germany and then driving through the sh*thole former East Germany to make it to the former West Berlin to deliver some toothpaste or lawnchairs or some dumb truck sh*t. RyanBurnsRed
Omsi would be great if the animations didn't look like they were from the 1980s lol. Great driving though, that's for sure. Edited January 9, 2016 by RyanBurnsRed

EDIT: A bit of news as well.. this is beginning to look absolutely f*cking amazing tbh - http://www.gamepressure.com/e.asp?ID=467 . "American Tuck Simulator will get Nevada and Arizona DLCs first" The screenies we already knew about, by following the blog. You will be able to select 'auto-drop', 'easy drop', or 'realistic drop' at each destination. The tech is currently being reverse engineered into ETS2 too. You also have to look at the map modders. SCS plan to release the core states and create a 'corridor' of states that will allow you to travel from east to west coast. But the modders are already licking their lips at the thought of mapping their own expansions. Both the TSM and Promods teams are quietly looking for new mappers to 'fill in the blanks' that SCS leave empty. There's even talk that since the Promods and Rusmap teams are co-operating with the integration of their maps, they might unify a team for ATS, but everything is still in the early stages as of now. You can see the Promods and Rusmap team support by downloading their new maps, Promods 2.0 and Rusmap 1.6. They share several new crossing points now between them at the Baltic state boundaries and more are promised now Poland Rebuilding is standard in Promods. Final update, regarding the multiplayer.... The ETS2 MP have promised support for ATS as well, but there is a price. So far, they have only worked on a 32 bit client, but the new ATS seems to be only running a 64 bit client, the MP team can only work in 64 bit. Therefore the current version of ETS2MP will be the last 32 bit version. Once ATS launches they will only use a new 64 bit build for both games. RyanBurnsRed
How good are the car models? Some of them look f*cking great and others look f*cking garbage, Really not that good. It seems quite low budget, which I think it is. It's good for what it is but the AI generally sucks and the NPCs look like stick figures and talk like they're robots. But driving that bus is damn fun I tell you what. universetwisters

I do wish SCS would release another Bus Driver game though. I think they're planning/working on some sort of bus DLC for ETS 2, pretty sure I saw a blog post about it. I'll see if I can go dig it up. Can't say I can find something where they specifically say it's a DLC for ETS 2, but some screens from older posts in 2013 sort of suggest it, although they could just be reusing the map for another game. They also put this video out back in 2013, it's safe to assume they're doing something with coaches. Might sound a bit pointless relying on something going onto it's 3rd year, but this (spoiler below) was also put out in 2013, and look at what's just over the horizon... ATS. http://blog.scssoft.com/2013/03/stuff-we-are-working-on.html As for something a bit more recent... http://blog.scssoft.com/2015/04/amost-there.html "We are committed to expanding ETS2 world with more areas, we have started working on American Truck Simulator, we have several people working on coach buses project, we have the long-term vision for World of Trucks to become the ultimate trucking meta-game with persistent massive-multiplayer online capabilities." Uncle Sikee Atric
If you look at the actual map of ETS 2, you can see several bus terminals already included on the map. The blog suggests SCS are looking to include buses and coaches as a DLC add-on, so you can drive trucks and coaches on the same map then. That change in wheelbase also suggests SCS are looking at adding in another addition to the game, tandems, since the wheelbase is essentially identical and coaches do tow trailers for extra storage on very long trips. Image borrowed from the BDF tandem mod page, plus SCS have hinted they are looking at inclusion way back on the blog.

I'd kill for one of those, but the price for me is just a bit too much. Not that it isn't worth the money, but I don't play ETS THAT much. I do have some steering wheel which is for racing, and I had to set it up for quite a while, but it works okay for the game. Could be better though. Uncle Sikee Atric
Sorry, but now it ain't worth 230. Logitech recently released the replacement G29, I think it is, and the price has crashed on the G27's....
dewtech
I know they aren't worth that now, although looking on amazon second hand ones are asking £290... I got it early on last year when my PC was willing to work... And I didn't mean I was trying to sell it at 230, I've not bothered to try to sell it.
