The only real " content " Rockstar has ever added to this game was Heists and the horrifically bad Lamar missions. Every thing else they added into the game is simply stuff for you to buy.

This last update added adversary mode VIP extraction missions, beast vs slasher, as well as a slew of freemode events/challenges with the new VIP/bodyguards game mechanics.

 

Don't know why you didn't like the new Lamar missions, were they too challenging for you?

GTA V is a mature, 18+ rated game, never intended for kids. If there's kids playing the game it's their parents' shame.

 

Plus, I play this game for about half an year and the only money I ever spent on it was to buy the game, neither I ever felt in need to buy Shark Cards since I'm realistic, I can't afford (neither do I need) the most expensive things on this game and I understand they are meant as kind of a reward for the players that play this game the most. It is indeed true it's about time for Rockstar to do something about the servers and the hackers, but I still can't see why the way things are now makes them greedy.

The reason why is because the content that they ad to GTA V is stuff children have been moding into games for years. It's simple and easy to create and most importantly ... Cheap !

 

Look at games like Ever Quest that is on it's 17 year. Every six months - a year they add an expansion to the game that has 10,000 X more content in it than all of GTA V as well as new zones that drawf GTA V's map. Back in 1999 Ever Quest had a game world that was in the range of 20X larger than GTA V... And you could even go into all of the buildings in Ever Quest !

 

Rockstar and Take Two are greedy and lazy and they don't want to give people real content. They just want to get you some copy and past apartments and hope it's player base is dumb enough to buy shark cards to get those copy and past apartments.

 

 

If they tried to charge me for this game i would be playing something else and so would the over whelming majority of people who play this game. This game is not worth paying for... Hence the reason why Rockstars business model is not to improve the game but to add more things for you to buy in the game.

It may be just "cars that suck" to you but it's still content. In the 2 and a bit years that online's been out we've had huge updates from where we started, and at no point have Rockstar actually made us pay anything more than the asking price of the game. The options there, but it's never been forced upon us.

 

What huge updates ? Give me some examples of things that Rockstar has added to that game that were not simply things for us to buy.

Ohhh, tough one. Let me think real hard...

 

Heists.

 

And don't say they took ages or any of that, they still came and they are there partially for the experience, and partially for the money you get

 

 

Adversary Modes

Lamar Missions

Hiests

 

And things to buy are still updates, If you could get online with a Vanilla copy of the game compared to with all the updates added, you'd see a LOT less things. Like it or not, that's still added content.

 

Not sure what you want from a company who are in the game to make money, and have a method they've come up with which actually doesn't favour one group of people. Check all these pay to win games, now that's something we should be fighting against.

 

So ... In 2 years All Rockstar has added to this game is

Adversary Modes that no one plays, Lamar Missions and Hiests...

So you're purely playing because it costs nothing. Right... Put it this way, I actually paid money for CoD Ghosts and its DLC, which I stupidly pre paid. I didn't even install some of the DLC that I had already paid for from an awful game, even though I wanted to just because I had paid for it. You haven't sunk a penny over game price into this game and despite how much you hate online, you're still playing. Right...

 

Back on topic, I find it hard to believe Rockstar's business model would be the same DLC wise etc if it was a monthly sub thing. Like really, they wouldn't just release stuff you have to sit and play for ages to get, it would be the opposite, you'd get the stuff and play with it for hours. Are you really that naive to think they never considered a monthly sub? They chose shark cards as it's optional, and it means you aren't stuck behind a paywall. It's up to you if you buy them. Rockstar didn't want all these self righteous 'fans' demanding lower prices because they deserve better as gamers. This is such a BS argument people make. Pay or don't pay, do one of the two, just please don't sit and expect everything to be handed to you on a silver platter

 

It's a marginally OK game that is free to play after i bought it. It worth nothing to play this game but paying anything for it ... No. It's a turd that is barley functional , filled with hackers and cheaters. And the only things to do in the game are grind a handful of contact missions , 50 ? maybe . Heists , those are actually really good. Or run around free roam killing each other.

 

There are some races that no one plays. There are some death matches that no one plays and a few other things but really there is very little to do in this game outside of what i listed above... And you and every one getting pissed off because I'm right, you know it.

You understand this is you basically arguing whether or not people should even play the game, right? You can't be 'right' here, if people want to play it, great. If people love it enough to drop £68 or $100 on it, their choice. You're enforcing your opinion like it's fact. The amount of content available is enough to please some, myself included. If it's not enough for you, then GTAO isn't the game for you

 

EDIT: Go play Everquest then Kat. Don't come to a GTA forum telling everyone about a 16 year old game you consider better. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I really don't think anyone wants to hear it

I'm not really caring about the debate honestly, I just don't get the benefit you get of coming on a GTA forum, telling everyone they shouldn't like the game and that Everquest is better.

They were actually far to easy and you know and i know as well as every one who reads your comment that the Lamar missions are horrible ! They took the worst aspects of Contact Missions and added in the worst aspects of heists and combined them together to get the sh*ttiest missions in GTA V ! WTG Rockstar !

I've figured out your problem, you don't have a decent crew to play the game with! Get some good people together and the game becomes a whole new experience.

It seems to bother you the most.

I work, I have extra money and a small fraction of that extra money I spend to get in game money because I do not want to or feel like grinding missions.

 

You are acting like GTA has physically abused you or cheated on you.

 

 

Also, I could care less, I am paying for a product that makes the game more enjoyable for me.

The game isn't perfect, everyone can see that. But, and this is the bit your little head seems to struggle with, when there's more bad than good it makes it a good experience. You play the game yourself, so there must be something there you actually like!

The game isn't perfect, everyone can see that. But, and this is the bit your little head seems to struggle with, when there's more bad than good it makes it a good experience. You play the game yourself, so there must be something there you actually like!

 

The game is a turd . How long does it take to load this game ? How many times have you been disconnected ? How many times have you wanted to sit down and play the game for a few minutes and a half hour later you are still getting disconnects , crashses and have cheaters spawn a 10000 clones on you ?

 

I said it before, the game is kinda fun to play but that doesn't mean it's a good game. One of my favorite games of all time is Mount and Blade... You literally do the same thing over and over and over and over and over ... And i could continue this X 1000. But it's still a sh*tty game !

 

Rockstar LOVES people like you. You will blindly defend this game no matter what and even better for them, you will throw as much money as they ask for at them regardless of how bad this game really is. In other words, you deserve this game and Rockstar !

How many times have you wanted to sit down and play the game for a few minutes and a half hour later you are still getting disconnects , crashses and have cheaters spawn a 10000 clones on you ?

 

I said it before, the game is kinda fun to play but that doesn't mean it's a good game. One of my favorite games of all time is Mount and Blade... You literally do the same thing over and over and over and over and over ... And i could continue this X 1000. But it's still a sh*tty game !

 

Rockstar LOVES people like you. You will blindly defend this game no matter what and even better for them, you will throw as much money as they ask for at them regardless of how bad this game really is. In other words, you deserve this game and Rockstar !

 

Cheaters... If you play on lastgen or PC then you deserve it, we get none of those issues on next gen consoles ;)

 

Where did I say I'd throw money at it? I've never actually bought a shark card, I can earn the money in game, but I see them as the best option for Rockstar to continue to fund the development of this game and the future games. Without the cash flow we'd still have vanilla GTA V.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying the game. I do to but that doesn't change the fact that this game really isn't all that great and the "content " Rockstar adds is little moire than stuff for us to buy. Preferably for them with the Shark Cards people purchase...

 

Anyway I'm off to play GTA V. =)

R* has this idea that releasing things at an immediate crazy price is good. Which is stupid. Which I expect from R*.

 

Take the yachts. For the first week or two, seas were filled. Piracy protection. Vip stuff. It was entertaining. Now? Empty yachts at see. If everyone got a shot at it, more people may have stayed with it. But no. They made it this infinite grind.

 

Which means people use legit and nonlegit ways to get cash but lose their motivation and the servers drop down in size a bit until another update. Eveuntally, that scheme will hopefully bite R* in the ass.

For DLC, that's enough for me. I really don't care that the prices have got absurd honestly, I'll enjoy the grind to buy a yacht or whatever comes next. What I don't get is the whole reskinned cars comment. Would you rather they stopped adding cars, because anything that's free I'll take. Seriously, this free DLC doesn't negatively affect you in the slightest, it literally couldn't do any bad to you, so I don't get the complaint. I understand they could be better, but what are you expecting on the stuff to do side? If you're going to criticize, at least have suggestions

You are so dead on correct , you said it perfect ! The Business model Rockstar is using is flawed at it's core, for us the customers not Rockstar. I've said it a few times before in this thread. Rockstar's incentive is to make things for us to buy in the game and that is because of Shark Cards. They need to make money so things for us to buy, usually extremely over priced garbage , is the " content " Rockstar pushes on us.

 

If we either paid a monthly subscription or maybe bought expansions then Rockstar could focus on not only fixing the game but add more things for us to do in the game. The real problem how ever is that Rockstar is greedy, and incompetent, and it costs a lot money to make more heists or things to do in the game. It's far more profitable to copy and past some apartment interiors and a yacht that does nothing and convince the kiddies that they just have to have this usless $8,000,000 yacht ! Mommy and Daddy can afford it ...

It's free, but it causes everything in the game to be expensive.

 

I would rather pay a subscription fee than have to choose between days worth of job playing or a shark card to afford the in game items.

When will people realize that the shark cards are optional... I never felt forced to buy any shark cards. And you don't need to buy every thing that comes with each DLC you know. Since the heists DLC came out, it became so much easier to make money in GTA Online, yet people still complain.

There's one thing that I feel makes everyone think shark cards are all bad. Price inflation. Without this I wouldn't mind them at all.

 

You can't deny it, if you do you're in denial (obviously :lol:) or just don't know (if it's the latter just take look at the prices of the newest stuff compared to the old and the patch notes of the first few updates), shark cards are one of the primary reasons, if not the only reason, that the prices of the newest content is so much more than the older content.

 

Take the Zentorno for Example, this car arrived with the High Life update in 2014 and is very competitve in racing, if not the most competitive car. With these new updates the cars that are comparable to the Zentorno, ie the T20 and Osiris (to an extent), are so much more expensive despite them only being marginally better than the Zentorno in terms of performance. I can't think of any logical reasoning behind this, can you?

 

If we look at it in more detail there are a few factors that can be taken into account, the T20 and Osiris are A LOT better looking than the Zentorno, as much as I hate to admit that it's good in terms of performance, it looks like a kid designed it. So the looks of the T20 and Osiris have to count for something, I'd say an extra 100-200k at the most eh?

 

When it comes to performance the reasoning for a much higher price is debatable. The two cars only marginally outclass the Zentorno in the areas that it must be good in to remain competitive. However these edges that the T20 (in particular) has over the Zentorno can be abused to a large extent to give the T20 a massive advantage over the Zentorno in certain situations, ie tight turns due to it's, obviously, superior aerodynamics. However these advantages can only be acquired when the driver has experience driving the car, ie learning to control a cars tendancy to fishtail or fascination with unpredictable front tire grip (looking at you Elegy). The advantages the T20 provides are only advantages when the person driving it has mastered the car and is able to pull things off that amatuers wouldn't be able to do (ie kiddies that rage when you beat their Adder in your Cheetah). IMO the price increase for these extra advantages should be around 200-250k. Yes they're advantages, but they're not blatantly obvious, in other words the car isn't an immediate 'I win button', the cheaper (than current) price would be there for balance due to the strengths of the car not exactly being easy to find.

 

In a way it's similar to how premium/gold rounds work in World Of Tanks. Lots of people buy them due to the clear advantages (shown in the stats) they have over standard rounds, however they're not undodgeable or unbounceable. For them to be as effective as you want them to be you have to pick the right time to use them. However lots of players (because they're complete donkeys) don't know the opportuned moment to use them, as well as the limitations, and accuse me of cheating when I bounce their APCR/HEAT shells off of my turret/pike nose hull when I'm driving my 110..People buy them because they're clearly better in important areas than standard ammo but you have to know how to use them, like how you have to have exprience in a 'better' car in GTA to be able to take advantages of the superior strengths the car has over the others, strengths that are only strengths if you know how to drive the car.

 

In short R* are using shark cards as a way to make even more money by raising the prices of items that really have no business being that expensive.

 

BTW I understand that part of this post might make 0 sense at some points, if so just point it out and I'll try to explain it better to you.
