Because they've gotten stale and boring and repetitive.

 

Heists are repetitive but at least they're still fun to some degree. Freemode events are very dynamic and can get very competitive. VIP mission can get down right chaotic. People play these more than jobs these days.

In the full lobbies I was in, no one participated in the VIP missions other than the VIP and bodyguard, no one chased them down or intercepted them or anything. Only thing they played was HUNT THE VIP

 

If it takes a little effort, people aren't even bothering. In the freemode events too, In a 25 plus lobby only 3 players on average will do the competition compared to half the lobby when it first unveiled.

@Hellhog. the missions, adversary modes etc are NOT DEAD, its not true that only a couple of people worldwide want to play, Rockstar servers cant even get four console players together in the same room ! what makes you think the servers can match people on the same state, continent or across the ocean

 

Im playing on multiple consoles / tvs in one living room, with my buddies and even then we can barely join up, The real numbers would be in the hundreds or low thousands who are playing any particular job.

 

In another example of how Rockstar servers are so weak, Im a frequent in bad sport lobbies and judging by how empty it is, I would think I was the only bad sport in the world. Rockstar is SUPPOSED to lump us together in lobbies but Im always alone. Just yesterday I met a 6 month sentenced person who said I was the first person hes seen in bad sport in 4 months.
