Some good ideas here so I'll add my two cents. If people invading my boat and not in passive I turn on the masile defence system then get a good angle on the boat invader, turn off the missile defence system, shoot invader until dead, turn on missile defence, go to bar, relax. In the case of a passive invader, blow up their boat then kindly as the captain to move the your pride and joy to the other side of the map leaving your passive boat invader with a long hate filled swim back to land where they belong. 👌

First layer of defence is proximity bombs, they still work with defences up.

Mine the ladders and the top if the stairs and the top of the next stairs where they meet.

For extreme cases.

Defences on

Move yacht to Mount Gordo

Disable yacht vehicle access for strangers.

Dial up a hydra

Get it

Disable defences

Ducks in a barrel from here on in lol

Troll them. Set acess to all and move the yatch to a place with no roads where they cant call for the PV.

Set the acess to none and move the yatch

I've had my seashark blown up while I have been hot tub crashing...so what. I stole it from the beach. When I want off your yacht (note - when I choose to leave) I'll just launch a mission or join a job from my phone. No need to swim anywhere. All thats happened is you've wasted more ammo/explosives.

I do love NOT owning a yacht.

So this subject still pisses off this much people arround here? Damn, just turn on that safety thing, or go into a single session to avoid getting your ego hurted.

you're not very bright, are you

It makes me laugh everytime I think of an option once inside the yachts like "activate invisible buble" or something like that. I just cannot understand why does people standing on your yacht makes players so mad. I understand for example with the personal vehicles you can choose to lock the doors, but that's a life-like feature, if you owned a yacht I'm real life, how could you prevent some rude to land his helicopter on it and use your pool? I'd actually support if another life-like option was avaliable, like calling Merryweather to guard it, but (sorry if I'm wrong) the idea I get from this people is they want to have an invisible wall arround their boats, having a game mechanic to avoid any interaction with other players on an online game, I can't understand that opinion. Sorry if I'm the dumb one for actually questioning others' ideas.

You shouldn't have to go into invite only session just because you don't want people on your property. There's already parameters for apartments and cars. It's not asking for much for them to do the same to yachts.

It's not asking for much for them to do the same to yachts. But my point is, there has to be a realistic way to do so. On apartments the doors are locked, the cars you can do the same, but yachts don't have a roof or anything to prevent. For me, I only see 2 ways of preventing that:

1. Call Merryweather to guard you and kill anybody who gets too close, pay a reasonable price for that service;

2. While inside a yacht, if the owner activates the passive mode the yacht well become passive too, just like PVs, everybody else will see it as a ghost, people already standing inside fall on the water behind and can only get in with permission of the owner (with something like the apartments' bells) but until they leave the yacht those visitors cannot use weapons.

Yacht Defences should pop any boats or swimmers too, IMO.

But let my Kraken through, that's still a funny way to kill people while off radar.

A while back I made a thread suggesting a yacht security detail (Merryweather NPCs, preferably in suits) for just this reason. I submitted it to Rockstar too but got the brush-off ("Thanks for your feedback blah blah blah ticket closed"). I'd like to see them add this feature. I'd also like to know what, if anything, "yacht access" is actually supposed to do, because as far as I can tell it doesn't do a damn thing.

Yacht access decides the players that travel with you if you move your yacht to another location.

According to who? I've heard that theory before but it seems to work only occasionally at best. My yacht access was set to "Friends" yesterday, as it always is, and the passive troll hanging out on the deck at the time went along with me. 25K wasted. And even if that is what it's supposed to do, with the move fee being so exorbitant and the location lasting only as long as you're in the same session, it's essentially a useless setting.

So if I want to leave my yacht and hang out with other players, I have to switch sessions? And then if I want to go back on my yacht and be by myself, I have to switch again? All of this in Grand Theft Loading Screens Online?

This is stupid logic. Of course, anyone yelling "INVITE ONLY" in response to legitimate problems with the game is always stupid, but apparently two-plus years later, that hasn't sunk in. Invite only is good for being alone (or with friends only) all the time, and that's it. It's not a magical cure-all for yacht access not working, for escaping trolling and griefing, for countering jets and tanks, etc. etc. etc.

I find it funny how you question my logic when you're the one looking for a way to be left alone while in a public session of an online game. Think about just how ridiculous that sounds.

You want to be alone on your yacht in an online game. As questionable as that logic is, the most reasonable solution to keeping others away would be to play in a session without others.

Don't start getting all snippy like a child just because you aren't happy with the answer.

You want to hang out on a yacht buy one ,

Don't understand why if you like the yacht why you wouldn't own one yourself.

The deck of someone's boat is private property irl, so it's trespassing , do you think the company's who own cruise liners allow people to piss about on the deck of their ships while in port, NO they don't ,

"The answer." You aren't Rockstar, please try to keep that in mind. We are two players having a discussion - you don't define the rules of the game for me, nor I for you.

Now: it might be ridiculous to expect to be left alone in a public session, except for the fact that...

1. Apartments and houses are invitation only already

2. Personal vehicles can be set to invitation only

3. The yacht interior is invitation only

4. There's a setting in the interactive menu already called "Yacht Access," it just doesn't seem to work

5. There's a yacht defense system that can shoot down any player flying toward your yacht, EVEN IF THEY'RE PASSIVE; but strangely it ignores boats and swimmers

Rockstar clearly sees the need for people to have a little personal space, even in public sessions. And many players want it. And I paid 9 mil for my yacht, so yeah... I don't want randoms on it (at least half of whom are only there to be dicks). I don't care if you think that's illogical, I think it's absolutely in keeping with the existing design of the game and with the implications of the yacht features (security system and yacht access option) that came with the thing when I bought it.

Having a few small troll-free spaces is not a big ask.

Not to mention, waiting 48 minutes for $9000 is a really bad way to get money, to say the least. You could make that much in 4 minutes doing a single contact mission.

- apartments and houses exist in a different instance than the rest of the map, yachts are actual visible structure that is wide open and out in the world for people to access, so they aren't comparable

- pvs, while able to lock players out of ACCESS, don't have the ability to stop players from shooting it up/destroying it, yachts are indestructible, again not comparable

-interior: aka inside. Different instance. See my first response. Being outside on a yacht is like standing outside your apartment. You're in the open world

- pretty sure the yacht access is supposed to refer to interior access, but since it supposedly doesn't work, it's no ones place to say what exactly it's really supposed to do

- there's a good handful of armed aircraft. How many armed boats are there? I'll wait. Also players can't shoot while swimming. In case you're missing the point, I'm saying only airborne players present any sort of threat.

You want personal space? Go inside or go where there aren't other players. This is a crime game and it's called FREE MODE for a reason. If players want to board the public portion of your yacht, they're free to do so.

Just as killing another person is homicide, and blowing up cars is destroying private property. I don't think GTA is a game where real life laws are followed.

Secondly, just because one doesn't own a yacht it doesn't make him a "lazy f*ck". In fact, now I think about it, maybe it's due to the fact one is not lazy that he prefers to do something more with his time rather than spending entire days in front of the game, playing the same heist over and over again, to be able to buy his virtual boat, come over here saying how superior he is, to everyone else, and cry everytime someone steps inside of the same boat.

@OP: I'd like to remind you I can choose to lock my personal vehicle, but another person can show me a middle finger by blowing it up. I'd actually enjoy to see what would happen if Rockstar allowed jets and missiles to cause damage to yachts.

No.

By the way, the yacht access thing is a joke. I don't need a setting to prevent people from entering the yacht's interior - it's already invite-only, like any apartment. Clearly this interactive menu option is supposed to do something else. But it doesn't.

I could just re-post what I already posted. Bottom line, we have a difference of opinion about the right to a little personal space in public lobbies, and nothing I say is going to convince you, and nothing you say is going to convince me. So why waste my time? My final thought on this is that I think Rockstar intended for yacht access to do something, but it doesn't, and I think in time they will patch it so that I can indeed keep randoms off my yacht. Time will win this argument for one of us. Talking in this thread will not.
