Email was just a theory of me setting up a TT email account and then everyone using that to submit.

 

 

 

Also how do people feel about switching to email submissions in future, rather than PM on here an email with the picture attached?

 

I find the PM system easier, as it keeps everything related to this thread in one place. Plus, I'm old (technology scares me) and don't really have a proper email account - just a couple Gmail/Hotmail accounts to let me sign up to various sites - I've probably only sent 2 or 3 proper emails in my entire life.

 

Just on the Last Gen vs Current Gen topic. We have a situation for this round that kind of bugs me. Most of us on CG have sold our Huntley S or Baller LE, as there's been two updates recently that have given us much faster SUVs. Now we'll have to spend over $300,000 to repurchase and modify one of those "slow" cars just for this trial. No big deal if you've got the $$$, but sucks a bit for those who don't. Basically, next time we run custom Supers, I'll need to spend about $2,000,000 on a last gen T20 or Osiris as I've recently sold them too. It's a problem that's going to get worse with every update and just causes more problems and headaches trying to keep everything equal across all platforms.

 

 

We'll always have a little of that factor even with PS3 cut off as part of the idea is to use stuff you normally don't on some occasions, the Coupes round in particular it was interesting to see how many people messaged me saying they had no idea how good a car the Xion actually was for instance, which obviously followed through to the last round, a car that most people probably don't look at in general selected ahead of a load of Muscle cars etc.

 

RE-7B for instance will definitely not be allowed if PC are involved as a car that is glitched and will do 180 mph on PC isn't going to be even remotely fair, whereas when I allowed the T20 in round 1 it wasn't an issue as it's actually a: not as fast as people think and b: the Osiris is more than capable of beating it if it's a more open track.

 

Obviously for some it will always be a factor but if I contested the Time Trials properly myself I'd expect to earn all of my money back for most classes very easily bar the Supers. When I've been creating the races, which admittedly was quite a while ago now in most cases 5 or 6 test runs is near $50k earned back and if I'm creating a crew event I'll typically make a good half million just testing races out over a couple of nights.

 

If you're struggling for cash in general I need to do heists on 3 of my characters and I'm sure we could get a few people together to help out. I'll take a cut of zero as I don't need the money.

I remember when I sold my Huntley. An hour later it came to my mind that i'd probably need it for this. I still had garage space so that was a dumb move...

I've started not buying the best car in the class. I figure I'm never going to win as the usual top 10 are way above my pay grade so I do as best as I can with what I have. hence the Monroe for sports classics.

Thanks for the offers to make some GTA $$$, guys. It's no problem as I've got enough too, I was just adding another point to the LG vs CG discussion.

 

We hold a weekly crew challenge at XDBX and have run into the same problem when trying to keep things equal across both generations of console. Some players have had to sell their Huntley, T20, Osiris and various other "previous best" cars just to help fund the newer, quicker ones. So of course we then run into the problem of which cars can be allowed for each challenge.

LG doesn't have access to the newer quicker cars, while most CG players haven't got the older cars anymore and some don't have the GTA $$$ to re-purchase them because they're broke from buying the newer vehicles. We have to be creative with how the challenges are set up - in a lot of cases we have to use Stock vehicles to keep it fair for both platforms.

 

Every week there are more and more players making the move from LG to CG, but until we're all together, there will always be these issues and it will only get worse with every update. Like I said earlier, no big deal if you've got the money, but for those who don't, it creates a situation where they have to sit out of a challenge or are forced to use a less competitive vehicle.

 

Anyway, back to the current time trial. I'd forgotten how heavy the Huntley feels. It really struggles with some of those corners. Thank God for that shortcut that cuts about 5-6 seconds off the lap. Consistently getting below 1:10 on most laps. How's everyone else going?

Well... I'm doing stunt races till the double RP and such is gone. Havent done a single lap yet.

I had a few runs with on this with a Mexican Cat last night...

 

I really like the incline and decline sections. However after spending so much time in creator and racing tracks built with the new props on PS4 the section with the man made chicanes feels like a 70's throwback...

 

Not digging out the lap, just that using the clumsiness of last gens creator really shines through.

The chicane is really rough.

 

Once I get a next gen version made that chicane will work a lot better. You simply don't have the placement accuracy or the ability to overlap to make those line up properly.

I done a few laps with the Catman, whilst racing I was looking for a shortcut after Catman mentioned it. We found something that could be loosely described as a shortcut (as in it makes the distance of the lap shorter) but I do not think using it will actually make your lap quicker as you have to slow down so much.

Yeah, the chicane is really hard. I often hit a barrier there and come way too wide out of it.

@gg - I could imagine your frustration when building on OG sometimes. Still - it's a brilliant track.

 

@chubb - I did the same thing. I know I'm not fast on this track but that time is ridiculous. Lo

 

@V - I'm the same or I clip the last inner barrier - it's just a smidge too far across. The hill section is some of the more difficult racing we've had and it's quite enjoying.

Yeah I'm calling shenanigans on the "short cut" too. the only place it could possibly be, you have to slow down way too much to hit the checkpoint.

 

need to get some lappage in the rest of the week. but have been distracted by euro truck simulator on the pc!!!

Something that could keep the thread alive during the trials is to encourage talking about tactics, times and adding videos of ones laps.

I know it has downsides and not doing it is a part of the event. I understand the reasons why.

 

When we do weekly similar events in our crew we do share times and videos as we improve. It works great, but its also amongst people that played together for years.

 

I just wanted to mention it as it can get rather quiet in here at times.

The hill section is some of the more difficult racing we've had and it's quite enjoying.

That was a bit frustrating at first but man am I starting to like that part. Probably sucks for racing but its awesome for this!

Would definitely make it more alive. But I can imagine people will get frustrated and such if they cant get the lap right they see in a video. Great driving lines to be learned through them though. Some secrecy is also part of the game imo. Edited August 31, 2016 by Verstappen
