Is Grand Theft Auto V / Online the best game ever made?

Like the others have said there is no one game that can be considered the best by the masses. That being said my favorite game of all time is still Halo 3 not only because of its fun multiplayer, but it also had one of the funniest forums that I've been apart of. Even the average forum troll was better than Blast.

I think the question could have been posed better. For those who say no, you should have to put forth what you believe to be the best game, for reference. For those saying you cant say what the best is... you can. He is asking you personally.

 

Also, gtav and gta:o are literally the same game, rendering the poll obsolete.

I vote yes, i have played since the first gta. There is no comparable game on the market. The level of detail in just the sound in this game is amazing.

 

For all of those saying no with a list of personal complaints and demands, name the game thay meets all of those demands... thats right, it does not exist. Food for thought.

 

If you say no, submit your personal favorite game that trumps gta and has no bugs or glitches, i am very curious.

GTA V and GTA Online are the same game. To answer the question ... well everyone has their own best games - it's hard to call something definitively the best.

 

To me, something like the first Red Dead (Red Dead Revolver) is painfully underrated and actually a brilliant game. It has great characters, levels, music, it's just brilliant. Other people might not like it so much though.

 

But based purely on the fact that the online side of this game is laggy, in need of fixing, unbalanced, etc. this is not the best game.

Some old games are still great in my eyes. Resident Evil 2, Road Rash, there were countless gems on the PS1. They had great music, great sounds, just little things that tend to get overlooked now.

Personally for me SA > V (SP)

V + Online > SA

 

Man even if I like SA more than V, V is blowing me away. The amount of detail and work put into it is insaaaaaaaaaaaaaaane, I mean even something as small as switching between three characters is crazy to think about.

All the PS1 games, even the ones that weren't really up with the best, nearly always had great memorable sounds and music. I can quote loads of the lines enemies have in Die Hard trilogy 1 and 2 (PS1), and I can remember exactly how they were said/with what tone, etc. I still remember the exact sound that happened when you pressed a switch in Alien Trilogy (PS1), and the music in that game was insane. The music in Spec Ops ... Wow.

 

In that aspect, modern games just don't really compare.

No I think the original Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Need for Speed: Underground 2, The Walking Dead: Season One, The Walking Dead: Season Two and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories are better than GTA 5 but GTA online is better than most of them.

There can be games that stand out but given technological advances and changes since the first video game and the vast array of games covering numerous genres and themes, I would say it's impossible to have any one single game named as "the best ever made". I've dreamed about a game like this since the late 1980s. I was hooked on fps games after one hour of wolfenstein 3d. Things got turned up a huge notch with goldeneye64. Then came halo on the xbox and we could lan party and no longer be on the same screen/splitscreen.

 

My friends and i would make wishlists about an ultimate shooter. Gtao f*cking nailed like 96% of what i imagined possible, adding to that about 1000% of their own sh*t. Single greatest game EVAR.

I grew up playing a zx spectrum, then a Philips g7000, then a megadrive then moved on to ps1,2,3 then 4. I remember playing driver on ps1 with my mates, talking about how cool it would be if we could get out the car, have shoot-outs & fist fights with each other. I'm old enough to realise nothing is perfect, there will never be a game what's clearly the best because everyone likes different things. but for me, gta v is the best game. just my humble opinion.

Hell no. I like GTA Online and GTA 5 (at least the gameplay and world...the GTA 5 story is horrible) but no way is either the best game ever made. For me, Red Dead Redemption is the best game ever made and after that, there are non Rockstar games.

 

GTA 4's story for me was better than 5 and San Andreas was better than both in gameplay.

It's not a top 100 game for me. It's not better than III, Vice City, San Andreas, and maybe even IV. It might be the most overrated and/or disappointing game of all time, though.

If this poll was made a couple months ago, I would most likely say yes, but since FO4s release, I just can't stop playing it. So, the best game ever made (IMO, obviously) would be FO4. Not to mention the upcoming DLCs for it, which just furthers my opinion.

 

It was my goal to complete every time trial as Rockstar released them, but a week or two after FO, I completely lost ambition. Never has a game sucked me in the way FO4 has & that's the reason I consider it the greatest game ever made.

I know we are dealing with opinions here, but here is my issue with this--you say GTA gave you 2 good years. How long has FO4 even been out? Because to me, it seems you are comparing a game that you maybe "played out" to one that is still fairly spanking new. It remains to be seen if FO4 will stand the test of time.

 

Again, we're all different, but in recent weeks, my friends who went off to play FO4 are now coming back. Maybe it was just the DLC, but it still remains impressive that they are doing this for a game that is now more than 2 years old.

It has potential to be the best game ever but its still in its infancy. Over time they will improve it and quite possibly GTA6 will be considered the best game ever. I used to play a lot but now I just log in from time to time to play with friends and do a few heists.

 

Until then I'm really into Fallout 4.
