Is Grand Theft Auto V / Online the best game ever made?

I find main character guy to be super annoying. I hate his voice. I hate his neccessary-for-gameplay constant narration of everything he does, and I absolutely hate "crafting" as a forced method in games. Not that I'm not enjoying W3, but it certainly isn't "greatest ever" status.

 

Wasteland will always be the greated video game ever, although Ultima IV comes goddamned close on it's heels.

 

As for GTA V/O? GTA V is phenomenal on a technical standpoint, there's nothing quite like it. It does, however, have it's faults which are rehashed constantly in the GTA V subforum. GTAO has got to be the single best online expansion to a video game I've ever expereinced, though, because it continues to grow, mutate, and expand and builds off V's already stellar underpinings and brings the ability to have that cinematic gameplay style (in many circumstances) online, with creativity and customization for all.

 

I do believe that GTAO is, to date, the greatest online game ever. I'm willing to hear arguments from WOW players, though, because I skipped all that jazz.

Not by a long shot. Its Potential is far greater than its current state, which in many ways makes it the most frustratingly "potentially best game ever made".

 

Couldn't say it better. Almost everyone looks the same in this game. We need much more customization and clothes. I have so many vehicles, but nowhere to go. We have only one big city and nothing happens outside of it. Nothing on the water to do. If we are going to see Liberty City, San Fierro or Las Venturas, I hope we can drive/fly or go by water to it. I would finally be able to use my Miljet...

 

Right now we don't know if it will every reach maturity.

GTA online is the best gaming experience I've ever had and therefor I must say, YES. However it only is the best when you're always willing to take it with a grain of salt and be prepared to give it time to continue to grow.

For multiplayer at least*

In terms of singleplayer I liked it, actually I liked it so much that I played it twice the weeks it came out, first time it took me 39 hours, second it took me 33. (Doing some side-missions but mostly story ones). But the title of the best singleplayer game/story in a game will always be Mafia 2 for me.

Without doubt GTAV/O is best of the series. Is it the best game ever made? I don't know. It's close but falls a little short. R* constant nerfing, tweaking of it's online world has turned a pleasant experience into a constant grind. With massive load times and annoying timeouts.

 

That's exactly how I look upon it as well.

 

Technically speaking, GTA V is the best game ever made so far. I consider that a fact rather than an opinion. But when it comes to emotional attachment (that sounds pretty dramatic) I think I'll go for Skyrim.

 

As for GTA Online, it's good and can be very fun. But I'm also disgruntled about the connection issues, new bugs that pop up after an update, the constant back and forth tweaking, and that it feels like a lot of stuff has been left out only to be slowly reintroduced. My fear is that it will never reach its full potential.

In terms of sentimental value, that's The Warriors. First co-op game I played, first game I 100%-ed. Love it.

 

In terms of replayability, I'd say tie between Uncharted and GTA:O. I really like Uncharted, yep. Although once Uncharted 4 is out, I'm ditching this damn game.

It should be understood that were on a gamer/ GTA 5 fan forum, so I question why this poll needs to be made in the first place, lol. Were a minority, Millions play GTA 5, yes, but few love it enough to go online and join up a forum for tips and story swapping. Were in the hardcore category of gamers so our love of the game shouldn't even be questioned, Maybe a poll on a general video game forum would be more accurate so everyone across all games and platforms could chime in.

Is it the best game ever made? No. To be honest, there's no clear definition for the "best game". There are countless other games that have been released that are very similar in terms of accomplishments.

 

It's a very vague question due to the sheer amount of good games that are out there. It's simply impossible to define a "best game".

Yes I know you can add the stuff via mods on PC but the console playerbase has to suffer

Maybe instead of the "best" game ever, maybe phrase it as the old: if you were on a deserted island what 1 game would you bring with you? Guess that is more of an objective question in terms of specifically asking about GTA V.

 

I have alot of games that I would consider:

 

Madden (year with first fantasy draft)

Tecmo Bowl

Gran Turismo 1 & 5

Grand Theft Auto Vice City and V/Online

NBA 2k

Call of Duty: World at War

Tony Hawk 1

Wormsarmageddon and Goldeneye were college floor war games

 

Im forgetting some, but those are games I played either endlessly or set the stage for future games.

 

Mike Tyson Punchout was a hard game when I was a kid, so was Ninja Turtles on SNES. For me at least. And landing the damn plane on the aircraft carrier in Top Gun!

Personally, I love gta. Ita an awesome game and I have spent many hours in Los Santos, both by myself and making new friends. However, there are still a handful of games that I'd list among my personal best ever. Last of Us, Final Fantasy 7, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye are all among my tops.There were others that may not have been as critically acclaimed but I personally loved as well. Best ever? Not quite. But GTA still stands among my personal top 5 or 10.

No - never. It would mean rewriting too much of the game (years of work, not weeks or months). If we were to make a f*ck-ton of noise about it now then they *may* take it on board for GTAVI, but only if we're lucky. Despite the billions this game has made, they won't shell out for the amount of servers and employees it would take to host the game in such a (sensible and better) manner.

 

And GTAV was always coming to PC. I never heard of a petition for that to happen, but it there was one I guarantee it had literally nothing to do with it happening.
