The thread has not been ended, but acknowledgement of you has been. Added to ignore preferences.

:rol:
He got the hump because he didn't agree with his original question?

Wow, just wow. Hatred of free speech lives!

/lock thread

Is trying to get a locked thread something that some forum users think is cool?

The guy got "the hump"? not because he wouldn't agree with the original question, but because he irrationally dismissed it, then refused to acknowledge the question of what the best game ever is after I actually answered the question he asked me, quite cordially I might add.

This somehow equates to hatred of free speech? That's a fascinating perspective.

When somebody posts on a topic with no other intention than to derail the topic and promote dissent and disruption regarding the topic, that user should not be acknowledged because he is guilty of trolling.

This is an excellent topic and an excellent poll, one that provides the opportunity for forum members to provide their input on a subject that has seen much heated debate but may never be laid to rest. I am open to hearing other perspectives on what the best game ever made is, but I grow wary of feeble attempts to justify avoidance and pussyfoot around the question of whether or not a game is the best ever simply because they don't have the conviction to make a choice.

I am not open to hearing others go out of their way to enter F on a multiple choice test that only includes options A - E. When you write down your own answer next to a multiple choice question on a scan-tron exam, you will always fail. That is what happened here.

Back to reality, kiddos.

I am just going to shut up then, before you add me to your ignore list as well.... Told me didn't it?

Nothing like invalidating your own question, simply because you make the question too narrow and then refusing to debate the answer in a calm and collected way.

Its certainly the one I've spent the most time on.

For me personally its a close one between gta5..ocarina of time and skyrim

I think a lot of people here don't get the difference between ''best game'' and ''perfect game''. The latter is impossible. The former is very possible, and to me- it is. I told one of my friends, what If somebody gave us GTA online when we were 15 or something, oh God. It is the best game in it's own way. It is the best GTA, and best online experience of it's own kind.

People do not have to give an alternative "best game ever made" in order to say it's not GTA. You want them to - we get that - but that does not mean they have to. You've asked a question and it's getting answered. That's as much as you can hope for on a forum.

I never said that anybody had to give an alternative. I said that based on his harsh comment, he should be obligated to provide an alternative. And you're intentionally reading the comment through the lens of ultra-literalism and ignoring all humor and intentional hyperbole. Either way, his comment seemed incendiary for the sake of shock value, since GTA V is such an amazing game. It smells trollish. It was bait. I took it, then spit it out and went back into the pond.

I don't want people to provide an alternative. But if somebody is going to slam GTA V as a game that isn't anywhere close to being the best game ever made, they're going to seem ridiculous if they don't at least list a game or two that would be close to the throne.

And I don't hope for anything other than people to be reasonable and avoid posting on a topic if they're not going to contribute a relevant opinion (as in an opinion bound by the confines of the topic and poll). By now, any seasoned gamer has heard the tired, bruised and bloody copout of "no game can be the best game ever --- there are just best game types maybe --- it's all a matter of opinion" stuff. Bringing that perspective up within the framework of this topic is saying less than nothing.

In case nobody has never realized this, the phrase or concept of "everybody is entitled to their own opinion" or "that's just your opinion" or "there is no such thing as the best" is probably responsible for inspiring more stupidity and insanity than Kim Kardashian's rear end or Rush Limbaugh's radio show. If you're going to shut down a conversation or debate or perspective by saying that it's all only a matter of opinion, you might as well just tell the person to go **** themselves. At least then you'd have more personality than a piece of toilet paper, and maybe demonstrate that you have a backbone, and that you haven't had your intellect smashed and blasted into the abyss by people who can't begin to tell the difference between objectivity and subjectivity, facts and opinions, rationality and irrationality. Having an opinion doesn't mean it's worth anything.

This poll is public opinion. It is not fact. Any reasonable person will understand that. Refusing to engage properly in the poll and discussion because of that is non-sensical.

Yes, we know that there is no such thing as the best game ever made, objectively. But there is such a thing as consensus.

Bonus Bertie

I don't think Ive ever put as much hours into a game, despite having much less time available these days to game.

I think it must be a "yes" or extremely close. I'm going for "yes."

Although Online has more things, i dont feel as though its better than GTA V. The attention to detail in GTA V is more important to me than having everything thrown at you.

If this poll was made a couple months ago, I would most likely say yes, but since FO4s release, I just can't stop playing it. So, the best game ever made (IMO, obviously) would be FO4. Not to mention the upcoming DLCs for it, which just furthers my opinion.

It was my goal to complete every time trial as Rockstar released them, but a week or two after FO, I completely lost ambition. Never has a game sucked me in the way FO4 has & that's the reason I consider it the greatest game ever made.

Don't get me wrong, I loved GTAO for a couple years, but it doesn't & never did give me the joy that FO4 does.

It was only your opinion that is was harsh , as it was my opinion that GTAV is not the best game of all time by a long shot and gave you examples of what I thought where better games. You then said yourself that the best game ever is completely dependent on personal opinion, yet you trash everyone and ask for an essay and lists of why we think GTAV is not the best game ever Sorry I didn't actually the rest of your post above ...I voted NO.

It's one of the worst GTAs in the series.

He didn't say no. He said "Not by a long shot." And all of it was relevant to what you said, because you're encouraging pacifism and platitude in the face of an ignorant perspective. What is your problem? Whether or not you're trying to derail the topic by attacking me and defending those who refuse to play by the rules of a thread and contribute relevant opinions (as usual), I don't think I can acknowledge you anymore. All you ever do is troll me. You go out of your way to disagree with me and agree with those who disagree with me, and it's childish, as well as a little creepy and weird to get such negative attention combined with such under-handed, breath-held aggression. It feels like I'm dealing with the girl in high school who criticized me and was snarky and dismissive to me all the way up until the point that we graduated, then she came out and told me that she loved me. I'd like to say it's been fun, that it's been nice knowing you, but it hasn't. Added to IP.

You go out of your way to disagree with me and agree with those who disagree with me, and it's childish, and a little creepy and weird. I'd like to say it's been fun, that it's been nice knowing you, but it hasn't.

Another one bites the dust. Dang!

Every once in a while, I think that relative to the time released and the impact that it had on me, that GTA III is the best game ever made. But I was like 15 or something when it came out. For GTA V to sweep me away and boggle my mind at my current age is more impressive.

But I'll never forget playing the time-limited GTA 1 demo on PC with my buddy for hours on end.

Hell no. GTA V is not the best but it's not the worst either.

You can't even call GTA Online a game though, all it really is, is a big glitch..... It is by far one of the most glitch and bug filled game ever allowed to be released. Rockstar was 100% unprepared for everything that was going to happen with it, and they still are as far as ever from being able to handle everything.

Misunderstood

GTA V is not the best game ever but it's not a terrible game. Especially with the addition of mods on PC, I find the experience far more enjoyable than I did on PS3.

GTA Online, however, has so much unlocked potential but I don't see them fixing any of its issues in this rendition. It's only a decent game in small doses.

GTA is life. When "gamers" tell me they hate this game, I just smile and walk away.

Man, you would be fun at parties eh?

OT: it's my favourite game but I can't say it's the 'best game'. It has too many flaws to take the crown.

Too soon to ask it, people forget issues and remember fun in the long run. That's why old games are always considered better than the nowadays ones, i think that GTAV will be remembered as one of the greatest games ever made and - no matter what some people think - it will be more for its online than the singleplayer.

Storymode is nice but nothing so special compared to many other games, including RDR and elder GTA episodes. But the multiplayer is a revolution in online gaming and i think a lot of players started to play online with GTAV. I agree with many of the criticisms moved to the game but i'm trying to look at it in an objective way and evaluate its impact in videogaming market. And obviously it's pretty pointless while we're still playing at it and people still judge the game because of shark cards or jet griefers or the clothing matches you can't do... and tons of other bs that have nothing to do with the objective value of a game.

The best game ever made: the evolving world of GTA online, ABSOLUTELY 100%.

GTA V is an excellent game - I played it all the way through for the platinum trophy on PS3, and all the way to 100% completion on next-gen, but that consumed maybe 200-300 hours max? GTA online has consumed almost 3000 hours of my life. How could anything that absorbing and amazing not be the best game of all-time?

However, GTA online is not the best gaming 'experience' I've ever had because that depends on what a certain game meant to you at the time.

Defeating the evil forces in Lords of Midnight on the ZX Spectrum was amazing, just as getting the original Doom to boot on my first PC with a proper autoconfig.bat and config.sys boot disk was an equally fantastic, shut the curtains, lock the door and ignore the whole world experience. And the realisation after exploring GTA San Andreas and opening the San Fierro map, discovering Terra Roubada and afterwards coming across a helicopter - if I press 'A' will I be able to get in it and maybe even fly? OMG, you CAN fly, all around the map!!! - one of the most amazing experiences (why didn't I go to the airport and test it out from the beginning?).

But GTA online is the best game I've ever played in terms of what it means to me overall.
