Why are there no cops in GTA Online?

Why are there no cops patrolling the streets like the single player?'

 

Punch a civilian though and they swarm out on you like bees out of a hive.

They don't actually patrol anywhere on the map. Rarely you can see them driving around right next to a police department. The cops continually will spawn a few blocks ahead of you if you are on a road. The cops driving away ahead of you will do a u-turn almost every time since they always know where you are on the map. still remember the days of getting into a car accident and the one person your car manages to roll over is the police officer just walking down the sidewalk or crossing the street

Sure there's no cops patrolling, but every lobby I join there's cops all over the city! IMO I wish there were less cops not more :-)

This thing kind a bugs me aswell, i mean, if i am in a dark back alley and kill a npc, or two, with my pistol(silenced) i get cops on me... and ohter times, when there is absolutley no one around, who could even see me shooting a npc, but still get cops, its kind a dumb.

I really hate when i just drive slowly between these lagged police cars, then out of nowhere i got 3wanted star level...

Correct me if im wrong, but since upgrading to NG , it feels like theres more cops hunting you when your wanted, am I wrong? it really fks the game for me

OP, I assume you are excluding the mail airport? Cops *patrol* that on foot and in cars all the time.

You can't even cut a loud fart at the airport and avoid a 2-3 star wanted level

The thing that annoys me about the cops is that they're a lot more competent than about three-quarters of the players in the lobby.

There are cops patrolling in game but only at a few locations (Los Santos Airport), La Mesa Cop Station etc but generally they are

restricted to around the cop stations.

 

Pull a gun at the airport though and you'll get shot at straight away.

They are usually out in most free roam lobbies well atleast if you are in a lobby thats LIVE.

It's just one of those things in this game. If anything, the cops needs some tremendous revamping.

There aren't cops patrolling Los Santos because it is such a peaceful and tranquil place... no, wait a min...

They are conducting a highly sophisticated experiment in the Los Santos and Blaine county. All the police have been handed a teleporting device which they can use to teleport to the vicinity of where the criminal may be. It also comes with a radar assist that points towards where the criminal is.

 

It comes with its downsides. The first one is that it isn't super accurate, and only puts them in the nearby area instead of the imminent area. The second one is that it caused the cops to get very lazy and sit at home watching "foot"ball games and baseball instead of actually patrolling on the streets. This is why they are very aggressive to the point they resort to gun violence immediately because you disturbed their precious past time.

 

This experiment ended prior to GTA V SP due to it being incredibly costly to the state.
