ChiroVette
I would love to see GTA adopt special missions like SR2's Septic Avenger and Fuzz, though I doubt they will happen. I'm not sure spraying sh*t is something I'd like to see in a GTA game lol, but Fuzz is pretty cool. It's basically a variation of Vigilante missions except it's more fun in ways IMO. It's pretty hilarious dressing up as a cop and chainsawing perps. I completely agree with you. Never gonna happen. But I can dream, can't I? Lester-The-Molester
I liked how the increase in the shooting skill was significant in SA but at the same time it was pretty stupid how the increase in the skill was just learning to raise your rifle and look through the sights instead firing it from the hip like an idiot. That and your gun's fire rate magically increases (and moving while shooting).
Osho
In ( RPG-like ) video games that's how changes occur. Though the skill increase in SA happens gradually except when the player hits the point in % of shift in the change, the benefit ( effect ) can be felt immediately. I would like to know which game handles the changes in the increase of the shooting ( weapon ) skill in a better way without getting the feeling that it has "magically increased". Thats the point, GTA is not a RPG like game nor a RPG, and it will never be one. The Skills and stats in GTA V are not necessary to complete the Story, however they still have a noticeable impact when upgraded. It allows people who do not like such features to completely ignore them, and people who like them to max them out. Additionaly they serve as a measure to differentiate all 3 protagonists from each other in a very well designed way, without having too much UI or menu work. Osho
I liked the RPG-like skills in SA because it was fine, and added some interesting variety and managed to turn the already plain and simple shooting mechanic into "you get skilled more as you use it" type. Any one could see its far better than the normal way. The problem is, people expect it to be more realistic, believable and all that realism jazz..applying logic and nitpicking than enjoying what you have. I have no problems with such criticisms and would le be even more realistic and complex as I am a sucker for more challenging stuff. But as far as SA is concerned with limited tech and hardware available, I would keep my expectations realistic, too. Today, of couse, I would expect GTA V to blow me away what SA couldn't manage to do, in 2004. And every one knows how GTA V handles the skills...isn't it? chilleverest
GTA is not entirely and RPG game but had an RPG element to it.

Osho
@ OP I think some one revealed in the past that R* planned for vigilante. But paramedic and fire fighter side missions is something I doubt they would have returned as well. They should have done a lot with not only these vehicles, but adding new special missions, too. Algonquin Assassin
Just to bring this up again after having a thought pop into my mind. You know something I could never get is when Michael gets involved with Richards Majestic, but he has no bodyguard/enforcer type missions? I still think Michael is the best protagonist in GTA V, but the lack of side missions for him is very frustrating. They could be similar to the Crowd Control activities in Saints Row 2 where you have to keep watch over a celebrity at film premieres and whatnot so they don't get attacked by crazed fans. Or you could prevent assassinations. Maybe have some where you have to persuade an actor/actress that refuses to work kind of like Mllton in the story. First, Michael did have a sad lack of exclusive side missions. Second, I wholeheartedly agree with how the lack of a bodyguard/enforcer side mission was a missed opportunity. Cheatz/Trickz
I can't even begin to explain my disappointment that there were no missions for the movie studio. Michael could have done odd jobs like the Club Management from TBoGT, except relating to the movies.
