For the last time, I didn't f*cking complain about modding or modders. This thread is about how when I click on new session it doesn't put me in a new sessions and it jsut alternates between 2-3 sessions. I was seeing if there was a solution to this.

 

Keep trying to turn this into a PC vs Console thread.

I don't really game on PC but you can test your NAT Type to the internet on this page here:

Okay so I just logged in. There is Assisted Aim - Partial and Assisted Aim - Full. Those are the two "auto-lock" types. I set it to Assisted Aim - Partial.

 

Also I turned on uPnP.

 

Should I turn on DMZ?

 

EDIT: For starters, I'm definitely getting sessions that are much more packed than what I used to get (this one that I was just in had 19 players).

Reading the latest posts it seems your issues have been fixed (or at least improved) but I can't help but ignore this thread and some responses you've said. I apologize for derailing a bit (God forbid you don't want that, right?) but I think you should be enlighten a bit - despite multiple posts saying this isn't a R* partnered forum you keep asking us for answers like there's a code or something (yeah, yeah, open ports is the answer like said in later posts). Feel free to ignore my post if you think you've got everything sorted. Also, I honestly don't want to start any arguments, I just want to tell you to calm down a bit before letting it all get to your head. The GTA:O section is pretty much a deathmatch and if you fire insults just expect to get fired at back (yes, you started it by saying consoles are a downgrade - not opinion but fact - first page post #9).

Truth is match-making is dog diarrhea and we all know it. We're not trying to argue with you; we agree. Most of us, though, understand it and move on.

If you want less arguments, though, I suggest posting further problems in the Help & Support or PC sections. People who look in there only post helpful responses, not start platform wars.

I honestly was going to be a lot nicer because you got a lot of unwanted flak but when you said this I realize that you're a bigoted idiot and that I hope you never find a session with more than 3 players.

I understand that Rockstar doesn't view this forum (at least not confirmed). I was looking for possible options or things that I can do to get matched with more players. It's not that I was asking Rockstar to do something new here...I was looking for a possible current solution (turns out its port forwarding),

Truth is, I didn't expect this to be just a PC-only issue. I thought there was some option that might be limiting me and I'm unaware of it, hence why I made this topic. I will add that ever since I have joined this forum and I've only been on this subforum, the rest are like foreign lands to me. But I'll keep that in mind, thanks.

I'm sorry, I don't see how your stereotype example is relevant in any sense to me saying that PC is objectively superior. What you said is a stereotype. What I said is based on PCs having better resolution, graphics, frame rates, and it's potential is as limitless as current technology becomes. Consoles on the other hand are low-end closed system PCs. You can't upgrade them, as it ages you just get a new entire console. That's what I mean by objectively superior. The issues that some users here were being smartasses about have nothing to do with the PC itself. It can be pinned to the GTA-PC online community however and poor Rockstar anti-cheat systems/lack of dedicated servers.

 

I, like the majority of people, started as a console gamer. I go way back to the Super Nintendo, then Gameboy color, then Gamecube and then PS2. As I grew older, I realized that the PC is all I need.

 

I totally understand people who buy consoles, my friends have them (PS4s). They tell me that consoles are better "psychologically" (being able to put it in the living room, sitting in the couch etc (although you can do that too with PC, but I digress)), and are perhaps cheaper (although again you can build a cheap PC with better than console specs for barely a price increase). I respect that. But they also admit that PC is indeed superior - based on facts.

 

I understand that you have spent money on X console, and so you have some emotional attachment to it when a random dude on a forum tells you that its less superior than something else. But at the same time you would be turning a blind eye to facts. But then again, ignorance is bliss. I hope nothing that I said offends you, and I tried to write it as respectfully as possible.

Well I used bad word, sorry.

 

Using auto-aim is comparable to a blind person having a high-end TV (how stupid can someone be to prefer not to play with his own hand?).

In gta4 it was a serious "cheat" since lobbies weren't separate for free and auto.

In gta5 assisted-free (whatever that oxymoron means...) is merged with normal free, but morons using it can't play anyway so it doesn't matter.

 

Back to the topic;

I have been playing this game on different PCs with different ISPs, my friends use different ISPs and all of us experience disconnects.

That is not the fault of PC version as I've seen some console clips on youtube where I can clearly see all people, except the one recording, leaving lobby, as well as my friend who plays on a ps4 (while he can't for some reason play on PC) also gets disconnected fairly often.

Ticket to Rockstar will result in useless answers like "open ports", "disable firewall" etc., which are the first things thinking person would try. Next it will only be "contact your ISP" bullsh*t.

Servers suck because there are NO servers, only P2P. So either you get disconnected because someone connection didn't handle you, or you didn't handle someone. Which is even more brutal with no localised P2P. So americans have to connect to europeans etc.

 

 

 

.edit: I also am a fan of consoles, but the ones that were actually useful - Pegasus, Ataris, Commodores (I know those are considered PCs) etc.

Point is, current consoles are just sh*t-class-PCs, only upside is that every user has the same configuration of hardware (1 of 2 sony/m$) so it's easier to code for them.

There is no problem with comfort on PC as you can use it the same way as a console - you can move it, you can connect controller, you can use TV as a monitor (and use all it's potential, though TV's suck to game on)...

 

Anyway, I'm putting too much effort into enlightening the (as some would say) "console peasants".

I apologize (seriously) if I offended you in any way. I can see now that my post contains strong words (which you left out, curiously but commendable) and that I was quick to judge. I think most, including me, got mislead by your "superior" comment. You should've opted for another word than superior because whenever someone says a platform is superior, they immediately (wanted or not) connect it to the only platform "worth" gaming on argument. So when you said PC's were superior, no wonder everyone ridiculed you. For us it's just another console/platform war, which thankfully we haven't seen in a while on here. Superior means better gaming experience and that isn't true for all platforms (many different factors/reasons come into play). It's opinion and experience based. I'll ignore responding to each of your points/rebuttals or else this will never end. Let's agree to disagree, as they say.

I've always been interested in knowing the aftermath of people having issues and if the issues are fixed. It can also help others who are having the same issue as you are/had.

Put it on Full.

 

DMZ is not recommended.

 

I think saying for a fact that PC is objectively superior was the issue with most forum users in this thread. It's your objective unbiased opinion, not a fact. It's not possible to measure which one is better as there are too many factors to consider. PC gaming has a lot of downside that would make consoles seem more objectively superior. From the top of my head I can think of:

 

1. Obscure error messages and having the results being defunct or unanswered forum threads.

2. Time spent downloading drivers and troubleshooting your hardware. Not useful if you're just trying to sit down and relax for a couple hours.

3. Incompatibility issues or optimization issues

4. Requires more maintenance than consoles overall but that explains why they will run better for longer

 

Thankfully enough, those issues are largely a thing of the past but still does happen more then consoles.

 

Overall it could be said the experience of gaming is not as streamlined as consoles making consoles more objectively superior but that would be another objective opinion.

 

I definitely agree however that PC can have better graphics, fps, RAM, etc but that's not what gaming systems are all about. There's a lot more factors that are not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice.

Frankly the biggest fault lies with R*. GTAO is the biggest cheater haven of any multiplayer game I've played since the last decade.

 

And I have played plenty of crappy Korean MMOs in the past. It is a testament to Rockstar's sheer incompetence when it comes to anti-cheat when those rubbish MMOs are better at it.

I'm currently in a session with 29 people, which is a record for me (I read that Max is 30). So I would say this thread is resolved thanks to Skynet. Appreciate the help guys.

I'm assuming PC? If so I think PC version has some like super strict region matchmaking that is highly likely to keep putting you back in the same lobbies.

And that's why there's Invite Only/Solo sessions that's free of modders hackers. Better to play alone online than to find a session that's swamped with script kiddies.

Unfortunately PC can be a true nightmare. I was so happy after not being able to play GTA for a year because I sold my 360 that it released on PC and that I could transfer my character. Unfortunately when GTA first arrived on PC I had so many issues with crashes and such that by the time they fixed them all, I lost interest. I've been back to playing GTA for nearly a month now and have put a lot of time in it again. Fun filled lobbies are hard to come by but when I do it's a blast. Unfortunately the modding really does ruin the game for me. Constant people asking for modders to give them money in chat (I've been asked countless times if I was one just because I'm a high level), modders spawning stuff in to annoy you or crash your game, modders glitching out your character that you have to close out the game and restart just to remove whatever it is they did to you or your garage, and of course the worst comes when a modder blows everyone up and masks it as someone else, is invulnerable, or teleports you or themselves wherever they want to scr** you out of a free mode event win. I've had a modder take control of my passive mode character and constantly fling him around so bad that it'd kill me and I nearly couldn't even access the menu in time when I respawned just so I could find a new session. The economy is broken. Everyone in PC seems to be rich, have a yacht, hydra, every vehicle at there disposal, etc. Add in no actual Rockstar servers or region matching so if I play late at night, there can potentially be terrible lag when I'm playing with Russians or Asians and they have host or near host like advantage every time. Throw in a split community because of 2 free aim and 2 assisted aim modes so deathmatches and races never even half fill. Forget about captures and LTS's. This, all of this makes me want to just move to Xbox One. Problem is I don't want to buy an Xbox One just for one game nor do I want to downgrade from my Very High 1080p 60 fps graphics settings. So... I suck it up really and just keeping holding out hope that R* will one day improve their anti-cheat measures. Maybe only 5-10% of my time is ruined by modders. Which is a lot in my opinion and leads me to often do invite only sessions at times with my friends or it just kills our motivation to even play. Downside is there aren't enough of us so we can't get free mode events to initiate in invite only free roams which is something we enjoy very much.

 

But for PC, that's all I really have is hope, hope that R* will give a rats a*s to enable better anti-cheat software. Heck maybe even 3rd party. In my perfect world, R* would have it where if it detected any sort of script or mod when signing into online, it'd send them back to single player. In the end, when I arrive at LSIA only to see a sh*t ton of chromed out vehicles or I lose the fastest land vehicle challenge to someone that went 350mph, I don't really get mad, just disappointed. But when a modder teleports to me with invulnerability on to take a briefcase from me or modifies my character so that I'm rendered unplayable and the only way to fix it is to fully relaunch the game, then I'm more than just disappointed. I'm inconvenienced and that really pis*es me off.

 

/rant. wow did I need to get that off my chest. btw I fricking love GTA Online so much. If R* had more NPC vehicle spawn variety, random events, NPC in aircraft, multiple NPC per vehicle, animals (all of these like single player), and better anti-cheat measures, then the game would be perfect in my opinion.

if not mistaken the current anticheat do just that... the problem is that people now dont just go online with mods enabled, they go online then inject the scripts into the game, bypassing the anticheat system.

 

last i hear was that they were spoofing some game files that would allow them to go online with the mods and go undetected by the system because it would see it as a "legit game file" haha

 

i dont play gtao on pc but being a pc player for 18 years have taught me to expect modders on any game.
