GlutkoIndustries
Hello everybody. I was wondering if it were to be possible to render real time reflections ala Just Cause 3 in GTA V? If so, how? If not, why not? Thanks, Glutko Industries Inc.
bizzlezx10r
Good question, i think each and every puddle and building would have to have a certain file to achieve this. Reason why i say this is because i notice on my CVPI cop car the hubcabs relfect buildings i'm passing but another one of my cars don't.

This is what always bothered me about the reflections in GTA V compared to games like JC3. We just have to find out what that file is or if we have to make it ourselves if this is true. _CP_
Reflections are based on static LOD1 and LOD2 meshes, only a part of shaders are reflective in car paint, windows, chrome objects, etc. Here you can read, how reflections are generated: http://www.adriancourreges.com/blog/2015/11/02/gta-v-graphics-study-part-2/

I guess we will have to figure out whether we can modify the shader files like Ice Glace managed with GTA IV or if reflections are just that hard coded into the engine for anything to be done.
