When someone gifts you money, say thank you, spend it all, and move along like nothing happened.

Then, go enjoy the new toys and stop worrying. Rockstar only chases players dropping the money, not the receivers, typically.*

Personally, I suspect that the majority of "gifters" are actually Rockstar angels placed in the game to get people spending & playing.
It would an excellent incentive to get players to play more, buy more, and even upgrade to new consoles, wouldn't it?

* with the exception of the Moneyocolypse of 2014 when I lost my $2Billion when Rockstar took all our money away.
I still got to keep all vehicles and Pegasus junk, though!

I'd tell Rockstar. For being honest, they may let you keep some of it. Trust me, I had a friend with 120 Billion GTA dollars get banned. If you have an obsene amount of money, that triggers a flag to your account for further investigation.

One of my accounts thats been collecting dust for a while now on PS4 has over 130 billion. And my main has 105b and a few others anything between 9-30 b. No problems at all. Bunch of fear spreading trolls just want billionairs to be banned because they have to grind their asses off. Sad really.

 

On PC its another story. When using tools to add cash, you can expect a ban. Unless the account was transfered and had billions before the transfer. Then it should all just be fine.

This happened to me yesterday, some mod guy teleported into my car while I was driving and proceeded to teleport both of us in various places. Ended up at the top of Chiliad where my car was disabled cause he tp'd us to the bottom of the ocean :|

He tp'd some other guy there and started dropping $ on him and, well I just jumped on him, only got about $1M though

I have around $7M now from selling all my cars and trading in all my apartments for sh*tty ones on my 2nd character so I think I should be good... maybe

Players with multiple inactive accounts, all with billions, are either selling them or fearful of their active one getting banned or wiped so need backups. Edited January 4, 2016 by Sencha

They adjust money dropped without notice. Unless a person makes it a habit to be 'unwillingly' with money, zero, zip, zilch needs to be done. Spend it.
