Hi,

A player was dropping money bags on me after I said that he seems cool. Although I didn't ask for the money bags at all, I will admit that as they poured down I ran around and picked them up (while simultaneously telling the modder to stop/or that this is wrong, pathetically). I did not mod, nor did I ever mod. But at the same time I didn't try to switch sessions.

I have never been banned before. Do you think I will get banned? (Anyone know when the next ban wave is?)

Edit: I will add that the modded money gave me just enough money to buy a yacht, which I did immediately buy after. Will this affect if I get banned (if at all)? Will the yacht be taken away?

I'd tell Rockstar. For being honest, they may let you keep some of it. Trust me, I had a friend with 120 Billion GTA dollars get banned. If you have an obsene amount of money, that triggers a flag to your account for further investigation.

120 billion is insane lol Edited by Throwawaygtao

The real question is what system did you play on if it's last gen prob nothing will happen if it's CG you may get caught.

When Rockstar did Ban Waves in the past, if you were an innocent who received modded money nothing happened to you, but you couldn't give it to anyone else. So as long as you didn't enter a DNS modded lobby to attain it.

Yeah and if a bank robber let's you an innocent bystander hold the stolen loot, you think you won't be punished for not telling? I know it's a video game, but principles are principles! Players agree to the terms of use when you play the game, so cheaters deserve to be banned. If you can't play fair, don't play at all!

It was about 5 mill.

Can't believe you spent all that on a Yacht. Was it worth the purchase?

Honestly, I would have to say yes. It's my own personal island, with free helicopters and boats. Also when I invite people to it, they're more willing to go, in comparison with if you were inviting them to your apartment for example. This sets you up to meet new people and possibly make new friends. Also I love the mini-wars done by people trying to raid your yacht (not to mention an extra VIP mission "Piracy prevention" that opens up when you own a yacht. Finally, but least important of all, it's a nice wealth status symbol, since only a minority of players own yachts.

For me, it was worth it.

"Question: Do I need to report to Rockstar Games the fact that I was given a huge amount of modded money I didn’t want?

Answer: No, you do not need to report this. We are able to tell the difference, automatically through gameplay data, between the cheaters and the players who received this money innocently. Players who were willingly cheating are notified about any action taken against their account. If you were not cheating, you do not need to do anything further."

Money is easier to come by now than before, and many people have easy access to millions due to heist grinding, modded money transfers, the countless money glitches and shark cards, so the 'wealth status symbol'' wouldn't really be that unique. I don't think people's jaws will drop when they see a gold Luxor or Gold Swift.

As lame as it is, cheating your way to anything, what you recieved is nowhere near enough to put up any flags. You were gifted money, you picked it up and then spent it. Enjoy the gift, I guess. Nobody is really going to care at this point.

PC is a sh*tfest with a poor GTA Online community no creators, no content and over run by people who don't give two flying f*cks about the actual game or know how to play it so you'll be fine :)

On the other hand why would you come here and tell a forum which R* regualry visit that you just been handed loads of money are you completely brain dead? You deserve it taken away for being such a A Grade blonker. How do we know you arnt trolling? Pics or it didnt happen. FFS

cant you idiots earn money the legit way? it only makes the game boring you get all the cars, guns, houses, yacht and so on it then becomes boring FAST esepcially if you have no idea what to do with your time in sessions when you are Online. Then you come here and open up a thread saying...GTA is well boring. Well sure it is you got everything the easy way like a meal ticket or daddy paying for everything like RL. I have got everything in the game and done it the hard way. I loved it. Keep collecting your bags ill keep enjoying the game.

Is this on lg? I dropped I mean I had dropped >:] 100 mill at a minute's time never got banned

Assets never gets taken away (I've been banned before)

PC
ohh pc modders most likely will get flagged but victims would not get banned

That's the thing. I don't know if they'll consider me a victim or not when they see me running around collecting money bags lol.

How much did you bank? Banking anything above 100k is automatically flagged.

I banked millions and I did not have any problem.I just like to have all of my money into my bank account.I don't take hacked money usually, but sometimes I do(up to 300k or so) and consider them to be "compensations" for finding a wind turbine in front of my garage, being exploded out of nowhere while in passive, etc.

In the past R* has banned the modder and then just removed from your account the money that they could identify as gifted by a modder. So just be careful if you go spending a bunch and then they take the rest of your cash; but you wont be banned.

Can you put some iodine in your salt next time? It's good for my thyroid. Thanks.

First of all, I didn't write any identifiable information. You can't pin down a player by writing the system and saying you got modded money.

Second of all, me putting a picture here defeats your first point about possibly exposing myself.

Third of all, never once have I complained about GTA of said its boring. Not once.

Fourth of all, im far from having everything in the game. In fact, it's the opposite for me. I barely have anything.

Fifth of all, I don't care if you did it the hard way. For the overwhelming majorority of players, if they see money bags I assure you they will take it.

The safest thing to do is to tell Rockstar. They might even give you some money as a reward.

Realistically spending it probably won't lead to anything bad happening. But if Rockstar ever looks into your account specifically, like for example if there's a glitch and you ask them for help, you might be in trouble.

Don't listen to these trolls: One cheater gave me over 200 millions some time ago (Being AFK can be a "bad" thing on PC) and I haven't been banned yet. One advice: Don't ask to remove your money, because they will most likely take your legitimate earnings as well.

Yeah, you'll get banned. And why? Because you SPENT that money instead of contacting Rockstar Support to tell them about it. You should have contacted Rockstar Support BEFORE spending the money, otherwise you have no proof of your innocence and are now an accomplice to the crime. Sorry about that, it's technical stuff, but true.

Guide to keeping calm if gifted modded cash:

First, keep calm and head over to the nearest device that go on the internet (Forget Console. It's crap searching the web)

Next, go immediately to R* Support and tell them everything that happened (be polite), give them his Gamertag/PSN ID, and take a video of his actions.

Then, wait for them to respond. Whatever you do, don't spend any cash.

Last, see what they say. If you spent any cash but had proof of it happening and you have a clean slate, you would most likely either:

*Get banned and the remaining cash taken away, but you can keep the stuff you bought and it will only be for at least a few days. Or....

*Get the cash taken away, but you keep all your stuff you bought plus no ban.

If you did not spend any cash, then either....

*You get to keep the cash but with a warning (Highly unlikely)

*You get your cash returned to what you had before plus a little extra (Likely. It happened some times) Or....

*You get the cash taken away, nothing else happens, you're left with less than what you have and everything will be like nothing happened.

Trust me. I'm a professional with this. This happened to me and some of my friends a couple of times and everything turns out OK.

Agreed, but the people on this thread who defend their illicit money-making actions don't go to the Rockstar Support forums, that much is obvious. They enjoy the feeling of being crooks and duping money out of Rockstar - the money that everyone else grinds for or pays for with shark cards because we're stupid, right? It's their mentality, but enough of talking like a moral prick... here's even more of it:

Rockstar will never release that 50 million dollar mansion or private island or FIB tower block or whatever it is you dream of owning, because the only people that would ever be able to afford it are the hackers and glitchers. We've now seen this with the yachts, where many people expected prices of up to $50 million, but of course it didn't happen, instead Rockstar released the yachts at an affordable price so that ANYONE can afford one. Me, you, grinders, legit players, casual or new players who buy shark cards, glitchers and hackers alike. Absolutely anyone can afford the most expensive items in the game if they play enough, so there is no need to mod money, but people still do it and delude themselves that their billions will one day buy them something useful. Of course it won't. Rockstar aren't stupid, they've shown how smart they are with the pricing of yachts. They release something new, people buy it, they release something else a month or two later... the cycle goes on.

And people are not half as smart as they think they are for modding cash. They appear to still be playing on old-gen systems and are about 5 or 6 updates out-of-date, or are playing on the PC which is Rockstar's buffer zone for hackers. And apologies for being smug for having a current gen system, but it's a fact.
