A player was dropping money bags on me

Hi,

A player was dropping money bags on me after I said that he seems cool. Although I didn't ask for the money bags at all, I will admit that as they poured down I ran around and picked them up (while simultaneously telling the modder to stop/or that this is wrong, pathetically). I did not mod, nor did I ever mod. But at the same time I didn't try to switch sessions.

I have never been banned before. Do you think I will get banned? (Anyone know when the next ban wave is?)

Edit: I will add that the modded money gave me just enough money to buy a yacht, which I did immediately buy after. Will this affect if I get banned (if at all)? Will the yacht be taken away?

You most likely will not get banned. Thank the modder and go spend the money.

This part was very funny, reminds me of like a left hand fighting the right.

Basically. At first I thought that Rockstar only reads the chat logs for stuff like this, so they can't exactly see what i was doing (going around to collect it), but I found out that Rockstar also has access to gameplay recordings, which makes me look really dumb at the end lol.

Side question...I friended the "gifter" as thank you...is this a bad idea since it would connect me with him?

Yeah, you'll get banned. And why? Because you SPENT that money instead of contacting Rockstar Support to tell them about it. You should have contacted Rockstar Support BEFORE spending the money, otherwise you have no proof of your innocence and are now an accomplice to the crime. Sorry about that, it's technical stuff, but true.

I came across this, which is why I didn't report it:

"Question: Do I need to report to Rockstar Games the fact that I was given a huge amount of modded money I didn’t want?

Answer: No, you do not need to report this. We are able to tell the difference, automatically through gameplay data, between the cheaters and the players who received this money innocently. Players who were willingly cheating are notified about any action taken against their account. If you were not cheating, you do not need to do anything further."

They probably will only get rid of the money anyway.

Yes, that refers to people who didn't spend the money and just had that cash dropped into their account. Trust me, I have been on the Rockstar Support forums a lot and this sort of thing pops up regularly. Once you have SPENT the illegally modded money you are just as guilty as the person that dropped the money in the first place. It is called an 'accomplice' to the crime, and now you've friended that person, it's even worse. Next ban wave, you're doomed, sorry bruv.

After buying the yacht, I have no money. It literally broke me...was just enough for the yacht.

I can simply unfriend him, no?

Also according to you, one would have to store all that modded money, not report to Rockstar and never use the modded money. How does that make any sense?

Rockstar can see a lot more than chat logs and recordings lol, I can't believe you only got like $10m. Anyways its pretty unlikely your going to get banned don't worry about it go find another to give you something like a $100m lol.

no one got banned for spending money during the billionaire days, you did if you passed some of it on

R* can now auto detect large jumps in cash, they may flag you but they'll just take the cash

spend it now!

It's not a question of 'telling' Rockstar Support. They do regular ban waves and detect this sort of things for themselves. If they detect you have modded money in your account and didn't spend any of it, you probably won't get banned, but if you DID spend it, you're pretty much f*cked - an accomplice to the crime.

The best thing to do is to contact R* support and tell them about it BEFORE spending the modded cash. They will remove the cash and not ban you. But because you've already spent some of that cash, especially on a YACHT for godsake, it's now too late. Next ban wave and you're banned. Sorry about that.

Again that makes no sense. According to you, one would have to hold onto the modded money for a month, till the next ban wave, to use it. Edited by Throwawaygtao

Don't listen to this dork.

If you report your dropped money you will be 100% banned. It's best to just spend it all, DO NOT BANK IT, and you will be good to go.

Spend it all until you have $0.

No, they don't ban you, even if you spent the money. I did the DNS back in the day and made billions. But they only took the money away, despite me spending it on a sh*t load of stuff.

Stop arguing the toss and LISTEN.

You've already spent the modded money, so it's too late for retribution and there's nothing else you can do, so wait for the kick in the nuts that is surely coming your way and take it like whatever you are. You first ban should only be a week or so, I think.

I have explained in detail what's going on, so see you around for other chats on these forums....

After it's pretty much all spent, I can make my own money again normally right? (via jobs etc) or should I take a break for a bit?
