Rockstar keeps removing clothing from the game, yet they still haven't given us the option to delete/sell clothing from our inventory that we don't want anymore.

Well that proves they have done away with the old free roam events such as crate drops, armored trucks, and high priority vehicles. The latter will be missed because I loved putting ignition bombs on them and leaving them abandoned. Especially when someone would carefully search for sticky bombs before getting in the car.

Is there even a reason for removing it? We all know R* servers (and many others, as R6S) can't handle large amounts of players. They knew it would surpass IV, and even though they were prepared, the servers have been steamrolled on launch. What i want to say is, there is always need for additional server capacity. GTA V sold alot on last Gen, according to 'vgchartz' its been 20,7 million on PS3 & 15,7 million on X360. Of course alot of these people have moved on to NG, but surely not all of them, as the sales show: 9 million on PS4 & 3,7 million on XB1. R* now focuses on NG, and i believe they hope everybody will move on.

 

I played (and still do) on PS3, but couldn't resist after the last update & ordered for PS4. The thing is, there is nothing left on last Gen, no new content, its stuck in time. I had everything i wanted, i been everywhere i wanted & i did every mission & every race atleast 10 times. R* wants last Gen to bleed out.

You have to be a modder to get it, or at least know one.Not all. There was a short time you could ask Support for it and they'd give it to you.

 

Back on topic: what Support told OP wasn't correct (shocking, I know). They didn't remove the shirt from people's inventories or from the Awards>Rewards tab in the pause menu, or even from the Social Club website. They removed Special Crates and the other original freeroam events from new-gen & PC, therefore players that didn't earn one before can not earn one in the future (unless they change things again). Support seems to have been told to no longer "give out" any shirts or rewards unless players can prove they had it and lost it due to glitch or error.

A couple guys on a PS3 board I post on claimed they were still getting crate drops as recently as last month, and I regularly see armored trucks online (saw one earlier today)).

I've been playing this game for over two years and I've NEVER had more stress, near heart failure or fun in this game than chasing special crates. Old-gen still has crates, Simeon's HPVs, armored trucks, smuggler planes and Gerald's car.

Special crates DO and did happen outside of events, it was just rare and required 8+ in a lobby. The other events (except for regular crates that require 4+ in the lobby) can happen in lobbies when you're by yourself but the events are on a 48-minute cycle outside of events, so it can take a lot of waiting in the same lobby to see one.

I played from launch-day (Oct. 2013) and didn't see my first Special Crate alert until March or April 2014. Didn't get one of my own until July 2014 during the event. After that I successfully got 71 more and a pile of regular crates.

I jumped to PS4 2 weeks ago and can confirm that during my last week or 2 on PS3 I came across 2 armoured trucks in free roam. It had been awhile since I had seen them. It was an exciting occurrence even. Also those random crate drops did pop up from time to time

No, they're gone and it's a shame. I love crate-hunting for the same reasons. And they **finally** figured out how to get them right where you would never get the same item twice and then they dumped them.

 

Up to 20 minutes of planning and strategizing and/or running to a vehicle and watching everyone in the lobby, followed by 1-2 minutes of chaos, followed by victory or swearing... especially on old-gen where there was no Passive Mode in vehicles.

My strategy was to park my chopper under the tree at the merryweather outpost (is that what it is?) on the hill next to the vinewood sign. I'd stay out of my chopper to avoid detection of having a flying aircraft (I'd get there with Lesters off radar) and then wait for the mayhem

I guess a lot of the casual players complained because they couldn't ever get a crate. Sure us forum hardcores could get them most of the time but occasionally I'd be in a lobby with a few other forum hardcores and then things got messy... I remember one crate dropped at the pegasus pickup at the horse track. I was there before the crate had landed as were about 4 others from this forum, it dropped about one meter from my head and someone else still got it!: P freakin hardcores.
