With the recently released trailer for Modern Warfare 2019, I just want to say that I really don't feel that the older MW campaigns aren't that compelling. This is from someone who's only played CoD from 2015 and has only binged the campaigns. The setpieces are cool, I guess, but the characters are just shallow. They only look badass and say badass stuff, but there's really not much underneath.

  Hide contents

Hell, I even prefer IW's campaign and WW2 over them

It's written by the guy who wrote IW and some Naughty Dog games so I guess I don't have to worry much. Hopefully with how much they're taking stuff from MW to please the audience they don't take the bad aspects in retrospect too.

Also some the multiplayer maps in MW suck hard.

Now, I’d somewhat agree with regards to MW3 and 2, but I can’t agree in regards to COD 4. It’s an absolutely brilliantly paced story with moments that genuinely due stick with you (in particular, the ending to Shock and Awe is still a heartbreaking moment imo)

Yeah, I have to disagree on the Modern Warfare series. Aside from 3, which I felt was a let down, the first two games had some of the best FPS Campaigns I've ever played. Brilliantly paced, full of great action packed moments, just everything you'd want from an FPS game.

Say what you will about the Multiplayer and it's many issues, but the Campaigns are remembered very fondly and for good reason.

I remember the first time I played All Ghillied Up in COD4.

I think the bigger = better mindset for open world game maps is really ignorant honestly. Now that's not to say I don't appreciate a map that's impressive in scope, but it also has to be interesting too. For example when I first played Ghost Recon: Wildlands the size of the map blew me away, but after sometime that wore off when I realised that's all it really had going for it. A big, but bland and boring map.

For me I'm not so interested In how big an open world map can be, but whether the developer has devoted the time to make it interesting. If they can couple it with scope than that's just a bonus (Aka RDR2).

I agree with this. A big map is pointless if it's filled with nothing interesting at all, this is how I feel about GTA V past the city. It felt like they stopped caring. I'd rather a smaller map filled with detailed environments.

I don't understand why Mario games are so popular. They are nothing special.

I mostly agree aside from Super Mario 64, which I absolutely love. It was part of my childhood. I enjoyed some of the Mario Party games as well.

However, I've always been a Sonic guy, and I loved Sonic Adventure way more than any Mario game.

Bad video games are like the Room, unintentionally funny and enjoyable with friends.

Good examples include: Ride to Hell, Spiderman 3 PC

Here's one that will probably be really unpopular:

I don't mind Loot boxes in games, if they are done right.

I find the idea of getting random items and playing for it fun. I had no problems in Overwatch, I felt like the boxes were mostly fair when I played and I never paid anything. Getting skins was fun, and gave you no advantage in-game. The only problem is most companies handle Loot Boxes terribly, and make them Pay To Win or the chances of you getting a good item pretty much impossible without paying money.

Here's mine:

ArmA 3 is unfinished game. People are praising it as a realistic simulator, but this game offers way too much bugs and various minor flaws.

Im no hater, i've enjoyed ArmA 3 custom servers (in 10 FPS), but when i try to play OG modes, things are ruining my experience.

I mean, Mario WAS responsible for saving the gaming industry. Besides that, people love platformers, and if there’s one thing you can say Mario does well, it’s being a platformer, whether that be a more linear path, like Galaxy 1 and 2, or more sandbox style, like 64, Sunshine, and Odyssey

I'm fine with more Battle Royale games. They are fun and replayable.

I don't think Battle Royale should be forced in to every game, but the mode as a genre is obviously still in high demand considering the success of Fortnite and it's easy to see why they are popular.

I think games of that kind should all be Free to Play like Fortnite, however. COD Blackout and BFV Firestorm won't last very long because they force you to pay, and PUBG hasn't been as big since Fortnite hit.

I don't mind battle royales either. I just wish devs would experiment more with the genre and do different things. Some kind of medieval fantasy battle royale for example could be interesting. Of course with Fortnite being as popular as it is, it's not easy to make something that people will keep playing.

Yeah. I like Realm Royale for this reason. A lot of people dislike it, but it's a lot different from your usual BR, there's special abilities and stuff. Fallout 76 has a somewhat unique one as well.

Am I the only one who finds it odd how games take up so much memory today, yet seem to have less repeatability and lack content that games of yesterday seemed to have had?

No. A lot of people agree with this, I don't think it's too unpopular. It's crazy how fast 500GB gets used up these days. I'm always having to shuffle games around. I should have got a 1TB Slim.

I hate Nintendo. Super Nintendo was cool. Also games for Adults, even if I was a child these were cool. After I bought the N64 and I hate it. Just few games were epic but i really wanted the games that were released for PS One. Gran Turismo, GTA, Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Driver, etc..

As I was a kid I did not get the PS One as I already got the N64. After never bought a Nintendo again. My next console was a PS2 were my love for videogames really started.  Still hating Nintendo since than.

I don't hate Nintendo, I just wish they evolved. I feel like they rely way too much on nostalgia.

Unfortunately arma 3 requires an oc’d cpu to get stable frame rate...if that even & an ssd to get rid of that awful stuttering. It’s a very un-optimised game.

I don't know, man. My PC meets recommended requirements and i have around 100 FPS on high settings in singleplayer. Yet my FPS hits the floor whenever i join any server. Tried optimization guides, none of them really helped. Used them a lot back in DayZ mod times.

Intel i-7-6700 @ 3.40GHz, GTX 1060, 8GB RAM. Arma is installed to SSD with plenty of space left.

I’ve got an old i5 4670k with a liquid cooler that I oc’d to 4.3ghz and I get around 45-50fps in big multiplayer matches like KOTH for example, sad reality about arma 3 is it doesn’t utilise any GPU usage at all hardly...

Driv3r has awesome car physics and i think it'd be nice if another GTA or decent clone borrows from that game and improves on it if needed

It could be because they are live services. Has microtransactions and wants you to connected to internet all the time.

Even the single player games? I rarely ever buy dlc things for games and never touch the online portions of games outside of GTA online. Even then it was solely for the fact i could own more cars there than in single player. Maybe that's why they lose the fun factor so soon...

This is true, I never ran out of space on my ps3 and I have more games for that. Memory wouldn't be a big issue if expanding it was as easy as buying another memory card.

I don't like Carmageddon 2, I don't understand why that game seems universally loved.

-It wasn't such a breakthrough since it was the second one in the series

-The car handling was quite bad, the cars were hard to control at high speeds. They should have made them easier to control like in Midtown Madness 2.

-It still had those stupid underwater parts of the maps.

-The AI was pretty dumb.

-The 3D models of people were quite unrealistic and silly compared to the nice 2D people of the first one.

-The missions were so bad that I'm sure most people chose to skip them.

-There was no reason not to repair the car so what's the point of that feature? It was easier to get bored and quit than to actually lose the game.

I understand why the first one was great, it was flawed but the violence, humor and originality made it worth of praise. But it really baffles me that people praise the second one so much or even more. Was the first one rare and obscure or something back when it was released?

I enjoyed Sonic 2006 back in the day. This was when I didn't really think about bugs and issues too much or think about games too deeply. I was a very casual gamer, and I thought some of the levels were decent.

It was only years after when I browsed the internet more I realized it was such a meme and such a hated game. I just never had a strong opinion on it.

PUBG is the best Battle Royale.  I don’t want to touch anything else (Apex, Fortnite, etc)

Dreamcast was the best console ever, light years ahead of it’s time (just incredibly unreliable)

I prefer simulation driving to arcade, in any game.

I want a game based around police chases, realistic car damage, decent driving mechanics, and excitement.

I’m hyped for the new Modern Warfare, even though time and time again since MW3 CoD has let me down.

Cyberpunk does not interest me.

-I don't see what's wrong with "realism" in video games. For some reason it's still seen as a sin, but I've never played a "realistic" game and felt like it's being a burden since the majority of developers don't go too overboard. Infact some games really should feel realistic. Not everything should be over the top and arcadey.

-I've never played Fortnite, but everytime I see videos of it I have to admit I cringe somewhat. Its cartoony aesthetic reminds me of the latest Saints Row games too much.

-Mafia II is far superior to its successor that tries too hard to be like a GTA game and now hardly anyone talks about it. Atleast Mafia II feels unique and sticks to Mafia's roots.

-I don't have a problem with pre-order exclusive content. If I know the game's going to be good then I don't mind forking my money over early.

-Exclusives keep me interested in gaming. While I wouldn't ever buy a console for just one game it's one of the reasons I own more than one console. I see exclusives pretty much like any other brand. I identify Uncharted, The Last Of Us etc with Sony as I do with Forza, Gears Of War, Halo etc with Microsoft. It sucks for the people who can't afford to own more than own console, but most of my purchases are exclusives for my PS4 and XB1.

Rainbow Six: Siege f*cking blows. Have no idea why anybody finds that game fun. Yeah, let's get shot through a tiny ass hole in the wall.

Don't even get me started on how dumb some of the characters are.
