AxER Posted February 6, 2003 Share Posted February 6, 2003 Now I don't suppose rockstar ever thought of this when they were designing the police, they just made a character design and left the game to it. I'm not complaining about this, I just thought it was an interesting thing to point out, you may have noticed this before. I thought it rather amusing the other day when my sister was playing (trying to) Vice City, she proceeded to pull a african american chap from his vehicle and kick him to death. My friend yelled "Oh my god you killed Bill Cosby" I laughed, then a cop walked right on past, she had no wanted stars. "How come the cop didn't chase after me?" She questioned the games A.I. "There are no black cops on the VC police force, what does that tell you?" I said implying that the VCPD were prejudice. "You can kill black people and not get in trouble!?!" My sister said surprised and little horrified. "No!" I quickly corrected her "There just aren't any black cops, so I think the VC police might be little prejudice. You get in trouble no matter who you kill." Obviously is was just a glitch, the murder was in plain sight. I bet if she had run up and smacked the cop he would have chased after her. Discuss. But still, seeing as the whole series is a satire of both crime and the US, it would make sense for there to be some degree of racial disparity surrounding the police. R* made Vice City waaaaaaaay too quickly. All the controls are totally f*cked (try pressing L3 in the ice cream truck ) because it was made too quickly. R* is either really lazy or really stupid, kuz sometimes the cops turn into normal people and if you run over them you only get one or no stars. And if you kill a person in front of a cop, sometimes they are retarded and don't give a sh*t. The skins don't make any difference how much the cops hate you, so it's not racist. *ahem* ...i was just gonna write "you should automatically get a star when you run over a black guy" but that's racist. But I was mainly talking about the general police, just the regular 1 star, 2 star guys. Also the Army and the FBI are all white too. Women cops would have been a nice touch however you couldn't of had as many of them. Police bikes would have been cool and made sense as well. (ecspecially for Vigilante missions). On the subject of Women in GTA, does any one remember how in GTA1 you could pick your character. It made no difference to the game but does anyone remember that? Yeah, I have noticed these things- this is a really good topic. I actually dont know WHY you sometimes dont get stars- and I actually DO think that some of these things you said MAY be put into the game on purpose. I mean- GTA has pretty much poked fun into very controversial topics- well, more like put in almost ANY stereotypes that could possibly have been said. I know that this is okay, because THATS what puts the humour in GTA- if there was an actual game like this- that DIDNT have the humour in it- would have made a horrible horrible game. Im not trying to b**** and say that violence shouldnt be in games- but theyde be labeled as racist game makers who dont like any of the ethhnic diversities enough to make them SEEM like they have a fighting chance against a white person- and they might as well add a "Get 2 free greasy chicken boxes with the purchase of this game" to african american consumers- or "Free sushi coupon" to those who are asian.
