Personally? Yes. Me and my crew and friends are having a blast with our yachts be. From doing the yacht mission from organization to sniping from it and then my favorite: Invite people to the yacht, let them get into the hot tub and then turn defense on and shoot a RPG at them.

I only had to sell a few cars to make up some needed cash for the yacht. Therefore, I sold fully upgraded:

1st Character
- Insurgent
- Cognoscenti Cabrio

2nd Character
- Vacca
- Kuruma

Can't wait for my new Aquarius. I make a milllion every day and a half and only have about two mill and change to go! After watching reactions and then accepting some invites, I KNEW I had to have one..

Miss Malevolent

Look... all i want is a stripper pole on deck. R* can charge me a 50 mill for that and i would pay. But i draw the line on paying to move it :D

This made me laugh aloud.

For me personally they are not worth it, I'd prefer to fill a garage with supers and upgraded cars I want (before someone says I'm poor and can't afford one, I have 17 million) having been on all my friends yachts I don't see any reason for me to own one. Saying that, I can understand why some other players would like them.

I would pay real money to have my pole moved.

No. It's no fun when you can't attack other players yacht. The yacht defense system is pointless it just ruins the fun, if you don't want to be attacked on your yacht then you can join passive and problem solved. It was only entertaining when we first explored them but now that we've all seen them they are pointless. Step up your game Rockstar, I could come up with ten better ideas while I take my morning sh*t.

If it's making jet griefers butthurt then its not really pointless, is it?

It's like a safehouse where you can chill out without the worry of getting killed in a crowded and chaotic - public session.

today i when back to my yacht, thinking about this thread and after all, i think it actually worth the pricetag...

-its the only apartment that you can move around the map as you please.

-the yacht is the only apartment that give you instant access to a helipad.

-comes equiped with a helicopter that it worth millions.

-it gives you instant access to a hot tub.

-comes equiped with a speedboat, dinghy and seasharks, worth millions.

its a nice investment.

It depends whether you bought the yacht to show off how much money you have or whether it has a substantial use.

Some people like to flaunt their wealth and show their gold railings, black and red yacht exterior, red lighting and much more.

Others like to be discreet and not be an attention seeker, rather use the yacht to get away from city life, relax and forget about what they did in the past.

As the proud owner of the Piece of Ship, I choose the latter because my character is an introvert, and prefers to spend time on her own doing what she likes best.

When my character retires, she will live that life and live it well, and the future generation would do the same (until they attack my yacht with a next generation Hydra).

FFS people! the yacht spawns at the nearest UNOCCUPIED mooring location where your position was last saved.

Ooooh FFS NO it doesn't.

Its random. And you have a random chance to be in your last location.. close to it or the other side of the map. Regardless of how many players are in session, hell it happens even when im in sessions alone. So why is it moving in sessions where NO ONES THERE?? :D

It is most definitely not random and it does not move unless you switch sessions or enter a new free roam session after a job (in which case it is moved to whatever mooring spot seems to be closest to you by the gam's logic). Set your spawn location to "Last Location" or "Private Yacht", drive to the Del Perro Pier, get out of your car and change your clothes, so that your position is saved. Then log out. The next time you get into a session and that spot is not already occupied your yacht will 100% be right there at the Del Perro Pier. (And if it is occupied your yacht will still be nearby.) The same goes for every other mooring spot.

However, being able to set a "preferred mooring spot" would be nice if only for the yacht staying where you want it to be when you come out of a job instance somewhere in BFE. Also, your saved spot can be jeopardized if you change sessions while inside the yacht which is also less than ideal.

Still, the yacht is worth every single dollar for me. It is not just a status symbol, at least if you bought it with legit money, but a great place to spend time with friends, and with VIP organisations you can use it for fun games like turning friendly fire off, having one organisation member sit in the helicopter and have the other members jump into the main rotor to get catapulted into the water. (Looks especially great in 1st person view. ;) )

Too right it's worth it. A floating palace & copter access as soon as you start up plus a hangout when you have a bounty on your head, just set the defenses & sit back in the tub while you count down the minutes.

Well my point was that it does not save last locations. If you leave the session, for what ever reason.

As far as people saying it spawns at nearest location.

I`ve been in a session with 3 friends for hours and i was the only one with a yacht.. Lagged out, came back and my yacht was on the complete opposite side of the map. It had no reason to move, no spots where taken and it was as far as you can possibly be in terms of the last location.

With nearly 10 million in the bank, it's a tricky decision between purchase of the Pisces or Aquarius, or whether to continue holding out for the January sales?

Either way, it's a position I'm really enjoying :):):)

To me, yeah, the yacht is definitely worth it, but not at the expense of selling off my existing garage stock at a 40% loss, or leaving peanuts in the bank and not being able to do the VIP missions. That's daft.

Yeah, it's worth it. If you play the game in such a way that you can easily afford it. Would not advice blowing ALL your money on it. It's a fun addition. It sucks to spawn on it though, then the first thing you have to do every session is get to the mainland and one of your garages/call your mechanic for a Peyote (or whatever) or find a vehicle to sell.

However, I'd happily pay twice as much for a freaking bigger garage!

What really sucks is how it moves around, the amounts of slots in each location needs to be increased. And the cost of moving should be removed (it's your yacht, moving it shouldn't cost extra but be included in like the daily cost, whatever that is). Yesterday it just wouldn't stay in one place for me. And every time I moved it to Vespucci Beach or something the "everyone quits the session" error happened. So like 100,000 wasted just on moving my yacht, unsuccessfully.

My yacht came in very handy today. Someone placed a bounty on me and sent the mercenaries onto me (they did this immediately after shooting me out of the sky). I simply made a beeline for my yacht, placed proximity mines on the stairs then switched on the defences. This took care of the twat in a jet and two assholes who approached via boat and boarded, all while I was sipping scotch at the bar.

Surely the mines wont go off while the boat defences are on?

They'll be even better if R* has plans to upgrade them in the future.

I for one would love to be able to replace 2 of the 4 sea sharks with a Kraken and a Dodo instead, just to make it all the more cooler.

i'm also sure in the future we'll be able to spawn pegasus choppers on the yacht

Yes. Yachts are great for roleplayers. They're also good for shaking off butthurt stalkers. Finally a legit way to move from the bottom of the map to the top in a matter of seconds, and vice versa.

They will be when/if Rockstar does a Discount Weekend, which I'm still holding out for. Even at 25%, will save a bunch.

I stopped spawning on my yacht because I got tired of calling my mechanic for a car. Would be nice if you could simply choose a car to spawn on land nearest your yacht.

With that said, the yachts are very fairly priced, especially when you factor in the millions worth of sea and aircraft that you're given access to for free. There's even a boat that spawns out away from your yacht (not sure if it's random in terms of which one) that's usually occupied by NPCs that just sit in it. It's like getting another free boat.

There are some needed improvements; I'd like to have Pegasus vehicles spawn on the second helipad, the ability to choose from my own Pegasus collection which vehicles I want spawned at the back and see above statement about car spawning. If you play this game casually you can make a million in a couple of days. Anyone who has some iota of restraint can afford the Pices in about three weeks of casual play.

I think i already made a comment here about how i love my yacht but i discovered you can make money a lot faster owning a yacht grinding missions by spawning in your cabin.

1) go invite only

2) Set spawn point as the yacht

3) From within the cabin start any mission you want. You'll spawn directly where the mission starts.

4) Complete the job and select free mode at the voting screen.

5) When you spawn back in free roam select join new session to very, very quickly spawn back in the yacht cabin.

5b) **optional** before joining a new sessions do a vip job. Once completed select join new session to spawn back at your yacht cabin. *** YOU MUST DO A CONTACT MISSION FIRST AND DO THE VIP JOB. IF YOU START OUT DOING THE VIP JOB THEN JOIN A NEW SESSION IT WILL TAKE YOU TO A PUBLIC SESSION AND YOU WILL WASTE TIME ***

6) Once back on the yacht, again you'll spawn there very, very fast, start a new job.

7) Repeat

I tested the speed of this by doing blow up III for an hour and made around $160,000, without doing vip jobs inbetween and doing the mission as quickly as i could. You'd think jumping sessions to quickly spawn at the job compared to starting the job on the street and driving wouldn't save much time. As the hour progressed i could squeeze the mission in a few more times.

Doing vip jobs in between contact missions with this method will earn you $400,000 by spreading out just 2 hours of the vip timer. I made $400,000 in a total of 4 hours. EDIT: 3 HOURS

Other than making money being able to start any contact mission i want at the start of the job is really fun. I like getting right into the action. I find the yacht worth it as it is but the ability to make money faster i feel is a legitimate positive to owning one.
