Rockstar should bring back the old events to PC/PS4/XBO

They can still pop up, but it's like 1 and a million.

 

They should change it so the old ones play every 6 minutes or so (in between each new freemode event) and the new ones play every 12 minutes, like now.

I always liked the target aircraft one. Either trying to drive and follow the aircraft at the same time so you could get close enough to blast it with an RPG or hop in a buzzard ASAP.

 

Also the more you tagged the more money you'd collect. Can't remember the max, I think around $25,000.

the Lester target and the Simeon car list are the only ones left because they are not on a timer (you don't get the text message from Simeon but if you steal a car and get a two star wanted level that is is Simeon car - the actual High Priority Vehicle is gone though). All of the old events that were on timers are completely gone - Armored Truck, the already mentioned High Priority Vehicle, Smuggler plane/helicopter, regular crate drops, special crate drops ect... are gone and probably will never been seen again on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

 

the source is multiple players having submitted support tickets complaining and asking for them to be returned and to only get a response from Rockstar Support saying that the old free roam events were removed when the freeroam events update/patch was released. So Rockstar has confirmed it through what they are telling Rockstar Support to tell the people that ask/complain about it.

I am on PS4 and I have not seen the Simeon text message car list since at least the middle of last year.

I get the Simeon car lists every few days, but they aren't like they were on last gen. On last gen you could ignore it and change sessions or do a mission or whatever and it wouldn't go away, the list would just change.

 

On current gen, if I change sessions or do a mission or whatever the list disappears, and doesn't come back for another few days.

It seemed apparent that R* were simply incapable of fixing the Armored Trucks because the patch notes for every single update would mention a fix for it, but it would always be the same. I'm guessing it's a similar story for the Crate Drops.

 

The awards are what really suck about this though. I had them all on PS3 but I must have gotten some of them after transferring my character because I don't have them on PS4 and now I can never get them.

 

The other thing I've noticed is that R* have been too lazy to introduce new awards for the new events. As far as I can tell, the last ones we got were for heists. It would be super nice if they would at least remove the old ones from players who didn't complete them.

i agree with the armored trucks, they fixed the endless spawn glitch on almost every patch and the moment a truck spawned, it spawned truck after truck til you leave the session, in the end the trucks just like the crate drops were fixed.

 

they work just fine on ps3.

 

they should really add them again, having multiple events happening at the same time wont hurt the game.

I got one Saturday. You have to stay in the same lobby for over a game-day before it shows up. I even delivered a car to him (still a crappy payout, but it doesn't count with the 48-minute LSC sales block).

You can use those to get the award for delivering 25 cars to him since the HPVs are gone.

They're on PS4 too but you don't get the text message as soon as you enter the lobby - it seems to be a lot more random. Maybe it only comes when there's not much else going on... I'm not sure but I certainly like it a lot more than the predicable routine it used to have.

I was alone in an IO lobby for my last one which prevents some, if not all, the current freeroam events. Maybe that's why it worked?

We could still have had both type of events. The new free-roam events + the old random events.

 

Could have been a nice balance, the new, more competitive free-roam events paired with the more discret old random events. Make it so that they can happen at the same time aswell. Could have made up for a very nice little living, breathing open world.

Don't think that R* are entirely sure how to bring them back without f*cking something else up - and it's clearly nnot a priority for them anyway.

 

I have to say that many of the freemode events were kind of outdated in one way or another. If R* do get around to reintroducing these past events, I'd like to see changes such as the base payouts for things like Kill Targets, HPV's & Vehicle Destruction never being less than ~$9k. I'd also love to see a better version of Lester's Kill Targets where the target (or targets) can be in many more locations, doing different things, and be in many other vehicles instead of just that one SUV.

 

Perhaps most of all, I'd like to see the payouts scaling with the number of players in a lobby; Kill Target for example $8,270 (base) + $730 per player in the lobby, which would mean you get paid 9k alone, or $30,170 in a full (30 player) lobby.

That game spot article mentioned hpvs giving double money on the day of Simeons double money and rp missions...so if true they will reintroduce them.
