Does Dodging Actually Do Anything?

Heists Are The Future

I'm star ting to get a feeling that dodging when someone is shooting you is just a waste of time because whenever I dodge, I roll on the floor to stop being shot, but instead of getting back up from the floor, I stay on the floor because I've been shot too much.

There's a dodging feature?

Are you talking about rolling? I find it pretty useful tbh

Useful if you're an auto-aim scrub. Like myself. It breaks lock-on until the animation is finished.

Useful against players who don't expect it, worthless against AI because they always aim for the chest no matter what you're doing.

Basically it is good against bad players. In auto-aim mode, when rolling you cannot lock on the ennemy. A good player will either know the exact time he can lock back on the player or he will be good enough to free aim the time that you are rolling on the ground. I dont really use it and when I do is to get to cover.

When you roll it breaks lock-on (assuming you're playing auto-aim) so your opponent has to release the aim button and press it again a second or so later. If you use it well then you can use it to your advantage and easily win shoot outs (and I do mean easily - VERY easily in fact). If you just roll and hope for the best then you may as well have not done it.

Also, if you come across an experienced player then as soon as you start rolling they'll move their crosshair, which is no longer locked in place, to where you are rolling and carry on firing. That's more difficult and takes practise, but is effective once you get the hang of it because you're basically shooting someone who is rolling round on the floor, not shooting back.

It depends on the level of experience of both you and your opponent. There are no certainties in this game.

Rolling doesnt dodge rockets. Anyone who comes at me trying to roll around gets a rocket right up the starfish.

I play free-aim & find that I'm often shot, even sniped mid roll. I'd often class these as impossible or extremely lucky shots.

I put it down to lag between you & the other player. On his screen you may still be standing, his console hasn't yet caught up with your roll, so it awards the kill.

But then I like to think that sometimes when I headshot an enemy that they're also cursing that I shot them mid-roll. It stands to reason that this would work both ways.

I'd say it's the other way around, in free aim I just kill the player when they're rolling.
