Why Do We Bother With PUBLIC Chat?

Sigh,

It's useful, yes, for Heists and Missions. But otherwise it is not a communication tool. It's a bunch of kids and teens and a few adults screaming "fag!" to each other, and everyone asking if there's a modder around to mod their money.

Also, is there any Universal Mute button? I'd just love to mute all these f***ers forever at once without ever having to again.

Open the interaction menu, go to "Voice Chat", set it to no one? You wouldn't hear others in public lobbies, but you would still be able to hear other players in missions, heists, and the other game modes, I believe.

Mine is set to "No one" because I'm normally in Teamspeak, but I can't hear people on missions etc either. If it's muted in Free Roam I think it's muted over every mode.

I could be wrong though, I don't use it too often.

Most of the lobbies have many children in them as well screaming over the mics and cussing at a very young age.

I especially love the ones that talk crap about killing me and can't back it up.

In my case, I have it set to "No one" also, but I could still hear people in a lobby when waiting for more people to join a game mode, as well as, I could hear people in heists still. To mute them, I have to go through the "Players" tab, find their name, and actually mute them.

When you're gone from the Forum and don't come back, we'll know that one of those squeakers was as good as their word. :p

public chat is awesome...

nothing better than spawnkilling a person with mic, actually hearing the anger in the voice is awesome.

some people take this game way too serious.

Nearly everyone, yes. I put 10K bounties and call Mercs on squeakers, just for fun. It's great.

I love going into game chat to hear people be ignorant and rage over bullsh*t, having a pissing contest in freeroam. It's even funnier when I have my mic muted.

... players who log into an online game to get their real world jollies by spawnkilling and causing rage ... hmmmm ... I'm a little vague on the concept -- just who is taking the game too seriously ... ?

Nope. Voice chat is automatically set to everyone when you're in a mission/heist/race etc...If you don't want to hear others in these modes you have to manually mute them one by one.

Its pathetic that kids talk the way they do these days. It's sickening to hear pre adolescent kids talk perverted, cuss, and make real life threats. It's also disturbing that they can't differentiate the difference between a video game and real life. Part of me blames their parents and society.

actually raging over the mic because you getting spawnkilled in game that revolves around violence and killing, thats taking the game too seriously.

i mean i once had a dude so agitated that i had to text him to calm down... all while i waited for him to spawn again so i could continue killing him haha

Y'know what gets on my nerves? The players who blast their music into their mic.

haha yeah i was about to say the exact same thing. The lobby wannabe DJ guy. First of all imposing your music to everyone is a bit rude and second, do you really think that your music sounds good in the headset of the other players? No cause your mic is sh*t.

Still, better than the dork trying to launch his rap career by freestyling in a GTA lobby...

They don't have any friends to share their music with. it's kinda sad. I make em feel that :D

I like the public chat as a form of entertainment. Kids these days, you know? I'm just happy my lil bro isn't like that or I'll force-feed him soap.

Well i still use Public Chat when playing solo or if i am with playing with only 1 friend or maybe two, We talk and carry on trying to find other players who will make good additions to our friends list....there are a lot of players who play and keep there headsets muted just waiting to hear someone speak up .....Yes a lot of times players will ask for money or start trash talking ..I will simply say nope no hacking or glitching from me, or to the trash talker "sorry kid your getting muted" .....these two remarks has help me find other players who were playing in silent speak and say hello and a big part of them were additions to my friends list

We look for players who are friendly, and will respect others no matter how good or bad that player is, We like to joke and kid around and keep it fun for all

Once 4 or more friends sign in we go to party chat,

have they fixed the chat options? because every time i would set it to friends only i was still in public chat.

personally the game is dead for me if i dont have some angry jerk to piss off. i guess they moved on to other games because all i hear lately is little kids asking for money. nothing like having some rage monkey so pissed off they spend the next 30 minutes chasing you down inviting everyone they know to join the session and help them try to kill you.

even better when they just upgraded and they bring a fire truck to try and drown you while youre in passive mode.
