Aquilus
Honestly I think we've all noted through radio and television throughout the GTa series that the media and news is full of blistering stupidity. But I think it's more or less honest about that "this sh*t was made by wage slaves in Angola" but lies about that this diamond will get you a bunch of girls on your D. Like a mixture of honesty of honesty of how this made and how little anyone cares about them, but lies in the purpose that it will guarantee you success or you will feel like a million bucks. Why is this so? Besides the fact Rockstar likes making sexual jokes which are hilarious. I feel this maybe a bigger parody of our society than I thought. So what does this say about us as a people in the U.S?
Curtis
indeed. the jock cranley commercial is completely honest he'll be solid sh*t, and so is the aeris radio-ad in gta 3. Edited December 24, 2015 by RandomStunt
Xing of Virtue
It is too honest in a frightening way. Like how Richard Bastion forshadowed the terrible state the US is now in, by saying "The government is turning into a confused, transgender prostitute. They don't know who to serve." Queen Elizabeth II
That's just sh*tty GTA V humor. Learn how to play GTA IV.
Flachbau
No, it's not "too honest" (would that even be considered a bad thing?). I enjoy the blatant humor that's included in the radio advertisements, character dialogue, etc. I've yet to come across another game that mocks the real world like GTA does. Saints Row is close. That's just sh*tty GTA V humor. Learn how to play GTA IV. You're the problem with this fan base. Maibatsu545
It's that it's "too honest" it's just done Ina clumsy way. It's clumsy, awkward satire that hits you over the head with its message instead of trying to be subtle. In the 3D GTAs the characters were more nuanced and grew increasingly unhinged as time went on, and also the humor was less in the gutter. These days they just have radio and pets say sh*t like "I'm a stupid shallow c*nt!" literally. It's just too on the nose and gets really boring after a while. We get it, people from LA are superficial and like to get plastic surgery. It was funny the first 1,000 times in the original San Andreas. By this point it's just trite. But what would you have suggested that R* did for the comedy in GTA 5? Go back to using the subtle stuff and nuances?
BlackSnow176
Grand Theft Auto's fictional medias are full of crap, just how OUR actual medias are full of crap. Reality television, idiotic movies, stupid celebrities, teen idols, "social" networking, hipsters, millenials, police corruption, government corruption, etc. I think that Rockstar does a great job mocking the ridiculousness of not just American culture, but culture as a whole Edited December 26, 2015 by BlackSnow176
ClaudX
I get that GTA is supposed to be satirical, and I enjoy the humor. However, it can ruin the immersion. Some of the advertisements and jokes are too satirical and pull the believability of the worlds out of my mind. Some of the more ridiculous commercials are what completely ruin it, as they stray too much from believable satire and become blatant insults. Throwing 69's everywhere doesn't make it any funnier, but rather childish and annoying.
