Savage is garbage, one of the most useless choppers that I had bought, slow, cumberstone, armor is made of paper mache and takes the longest to bail out.

Buzzard is all around the best buy.

The Buzzard is a scapel, the Savage is a baseball bat with some nails in it.

Given the choice, I always pick my Buzzard.

The Hydra is infinitely better for freeroam that either, but awful in missions because by the above analogy it's a tree branch with a cinderblock lashed to it.

And, while not mentioned, the Valkyrie is the most fun four people can have together in this game, but requires at least two players and communication to use.

Cheapest: Buzzard

Most maneuverable: Buzzard

Best missiles: Savage (same firepower, but fires much more rapidly)

Best guns: Savage/Hydra tie (exploding bullets vs. worthless bullets on the Buzzard)

Fastest speed: Hydra (though the Lazer will out-accelerate it)

Best spawns: Hydra (spawns at any helipad or airplane location)

Passengers:

Buzzard: 3 (co-pilot can take control of missiles)

Savage: 3 (co-pilot can take control of missiles)

Hydra: 0

Best uses:

If you're going to do missions (not some particular one, but any), Buzzard is the best choice

If you're going to grief then get the Hydra

I have yet to find a circumstance where a player that already owns a Buzzard and a Hydra would ever need a Savage.

If you have friends and are better flying than flying+shooting, then the expensive Valkyrie is hovering death of infinite-ammo guns, but otherwise it's not a great choice.

Savage

Pros - Lazer cannons, endless missile fire

Cons - takes nearly a year to bail out of when an incoming misssle is coming ( slow )

Buzzard

Pros - Fast, Small

Cons - Might as well shoot piss with chain gun its got

So , I have to say Buzzard, cos at least you got the speed on your side to out manoeuvre missiles

50 votes in and it's neck and neck.

Guess that says that you can't really go wrong with either

If only we could have firepower of the savage combined with the agile handling of the buzzard that would make something amazing.

The Hunter?

On topic, for free mode fighting, the OP really should get a Hydra. He/she might not have the hang of jets now, but as someone who can use both jets and helicopters, I have to say jets are easier to get the hang of. You can do more with them more quickly too, and once you've got them down they're very hard to stop (unlike helicopters, which are like rolling a dice).

For missions, I would say go for a Buzzard. That said, I don't think either helicopter can be said to be "superior" to the other - they both have different strengths. The Buzzard is more well - rounded and reliable though, and, however much I like the Savage, I can't defend its appauling armour.

both have it pros and cons.

if is for freeroam both are useless due to the homing launcher.

for missions i'd go with the savage because of the missile fire rate.

the buzzard is smaller and more agile.

Each have their uses. Buzzard is way more nimble for take off/landing and maneuvering, especially in tight spaces, and would still be my first choice for doing missions. The Savage is more.. well.. savage in terms of outright speed/climb and firepower but it could do with a serious armor buff (against bullets only - not rockets). Currently, it is literally the antithesis of what it should be (a heavy duty armored military helicopter).

All the attack helis in this game would be better if I could aim the f*cking guns without tilting the whole chopper. I'm not asking for a 360° rotating doom cannon, but I'd love to be able to park myself on station and plaster a hangar without worrying about ending up in the hangar.

op buy either for missions, it's irrelevant.

if you want to use it in freemode and missions, get a hydra and learn how to wreck sh*t with it.

How is the hydra for missions?

Personally I love the Hydra for missions. But that's just cause I love flying the Hydra. and if I want extra challenge the explosive bullets are hella fun. I don't ever use the buzzard for missions anymore (unless I need to escort some one and I can only think of one mission I do that i need that and honestly then I just prefer to use my Swift).

I find missions a little easier with the Hydra vs. the Buzzard (can't say for the Savage. I've not used it much. I think I found it too cumbersome and well, I already had the Hydra at the point I bought the Savage so preferred it anyways).

But mostly I just think the Hydra is more fun for missions and free roam (and no, I don't grief but I love getting into fights with the cops with it or just blowing up the NPCs with the gun). The Hydra has to be my favorite purchase of anything in the game. I think if I had to pick just one of the things I own and nothing else, the Hydra would have to be it (but I'd be sad to lose my Zenterno and Yacht :(. Well and other stuff too but I think those two would hurt the most. Oh, and my Rebel... Yeah, it's just a Rebel but it's really fun and best thing is if some one blows it up or I mess it up it costs me all of 40 bux!).

Annihilator is best chopper, obviously

*Snort* That was sarcasm, right?

Worst helicopter in the game. Hell, probably qualifies for one of the worst vehicles in the game. Slow, doesn't even have good armor (I mean I kinda expected this since it was slow with crappy gun I figured it would at least be decently armored, right?), crappy gun, not very agile. Only good thing is that it carries a lot of people I suppose.

The Lone Wanderer

flip a coin and that will give roughly the same result as the poll

See

Buy A hydra, it's just as good as the buzzard and arguably as good as the savage in terms of raw firepower

Helicopters are very practical for missions, they save endless back/forth driving where you have to shoot multiple targets and are

essential for timed missions requiring kills (Judging the Jury, On The List etc).

For me the armor of the Savage is it's downfall, it will start smoking very quickly and if you have to bail it's slow and you will usually

be picked off by the AI NPC's - much rage!

The Buzzard is by far the best for missions, a good missile lock on system, very quick and able to dodge enemies and if you're good

getting kills with it's cannon can be very satisfying.
