How does K/D ratio actually work?

I've always wondered. I can kill 20 people and not die once and it will only raise about .15

But If I kill 50 people and die 5 times it will go way down sometimes over 1.00

I just never fully understood how it works. I am level 58 and my K/D is constantly fluctuating between around 6.50 and somewhere in the 9.0 area.

I did a death match last night my K/D was at 7.83 before the match. During the match I got 12 kills and died 13 times (stupid ass OMGZ 1,000,000,000RP GLITCH) match. Well anyways my K/D dropped all the way down to 6.5 just from one death match. I don't understand how it works. Not that I care how high my KD ratio is but I've never fully understood the concept of how it works.

Total kills, devided by, total death by players = K/D ratio

 

So 1000kills and 200 deaths means a k/d of 5.0

It doesn't take much for k/d to go down. For instance you can be in a death match with 40 kills. One death won't do anything, however 2 kills instantly cuts your k/d down to half (from 40 to 20). It's exactly what it is, a ratio.

About it changing that rapidly its because of your lower level. The more you play the less frequent it will change like that.

step 2: if penis is not big enough, look for low ranked players in freeroam to get easy kills on.

 

step 3: apply measurement stick to penis.

 

step 4: if penis is still not big enough, repeat step 2.

Ok so you're kd is 9 so to maintain that you need to kill 9 players for every death.If you kill 9 and die 9 then you're kd would be 1.0 get it?

I was just wondering how it works because my cousins doesn't change at all even if he dies 10 times in a row or kills 10 people it stays the same. Thanks for some good answers though. This is how much I care about my K/D btw... add me on Ps4 and I will stand there while you boost your kid and kill me endlessly. I do not care about it I asked a simple question because I did not understand how it works. This f*cking place smh

One player has 5000 kills and 5000 deaths. His k/d is 1.00

 

Another player has 100 kills and 100 deaths His k/d is 1.00

 

If they both get killed 10 times in a row, which one will be affected more by 10 deaths?

Taking the easy way out or dying from falling to high, does it count toward a death? or it needs to be a death that counted as a kill for another player?

Has to be player kills. That's why some people will commit suicide rather than let someone get the kill on them.

I've been doing this for almost an hour now, but it doesn't seem to work. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I probably need to look for some sub 20 ranked players. Edited December 22, 2015 by jatiger13

I've been doing this for almost an hour now, but it doesn't seem to work. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Sheeet I just want to get mine to like a 2.0 I'm stuck at 1.12. People say it doesn't matter, but for me it does. I want to be able to take out like 3-6 players before I die in a deathmatch. Right now I just suck. Since GTA has so much to offer, I'd like to get good at something other than doing missions.
