Anybody else miss the Last Gen passive mode?

I'm wondering if I am the only one missing the passive mode on Last Gen consoles. You could always take revenge on people when they tried to kill you without the abuse going on with people going in passive and going out when you dont expect it.

The positive aspects are immense: The Nextgen passive mode is far to invisible compared to Last Gen passive mode. You cant interact with people anymore.

 

I loved to kill people in their cars while they thought they are passive. I also loved to kill passive pussys with the water canon of firetrucks or rotors of a chopper.

 

And then where the days where you had a killing spree in a lobby in a tank and people went into passive just so you could fling them through the air with the tank canon.

 

Yes, I have to admit that I also loved the griefing aspect of the old passive .

They could at least make you less ghost like. Or just make like on heists/missions in that shooting anyone else nothing happens you just waste bullets.

 

Or just being back custom lobbies. Friendly Fire On/Off - Police On/Off - Weather Type etc

Ahhh, I remember the old days of having to get on top of something like a container or a roof when going AFK because I knew someone would come and try to run me over with their car.

Nope, not at all, especially because they broke it to the point that it would kick you out of passive instantly with no warning. Then you don't realize you are even out of it until another player kills you.

 

As far as I know they still have not fixed that problem and somehow managed to allow it to carry over to next gen version.

Ya know, maybe some guys just couldn't care less about your MLG 420blaze it PvP skills and want to play the game in a different way?

Every time I log into GTA Online, the first thing I do is activate Passive Mode.Then I go and respray my cars, go and search for some NPC modded cars to sell, change clothes, etc.

If I'm willing to cause some chaos I decativate it and call my Hydra.

 

It's a very nice option.Without it I don't think I would still be playing GTA.I just couldn't care less about Pvp, as I hate shooters in general, alongside the so-called 'competitive' games.

 

All I do is usually is mess up in free roam with my cars, play contact missions, heists, and sometimes some VIP Missions in an invite only with my guys.

You still get that on nextgen as well. Seems a lot of players fail to understand passive mode and unload 6000 bullets before realizing the players in passive can't be killed that way...

 

You can get run over and killed while in passive on nextgen as well. The player in the car has to bail from the with enough time for the car to go solid on the other player's screen for it to work.

 

It's an unnecessary cheap shot to do it that, but there are players that will do it, and I've seen it done before and had it done to me, but I won't do it because of how much of a cheap shot it is..

 

So really even on nextgen if you are going to idle in passive, you need to get on top of the wall.

No, I don't miss it at all. Last gen's passive mode was pointless, might as well not have it. This gen's isn't perfect but at least it has a point to it. I mean if you want to interact with other players, why are you in passive mode anyways? That's the point, if you want to destroy other people, you should be destructable too. If you're whining that you can't use it as a cheat mode to annoy others and be safe from them, well excuse me as I don't shed a tear for you.

There is no passive mode on last gen, despite what the menu option says. All it does is stop your guns working. Good luck sitting in your car in passive, honking your sad trombone horn at someone.

Im pretty sure we have all seen them..

On top of a container wasn't even enough. Diehard trollers would roll up with a fire truck, spray you off, run you over. If you went on top of a building, they'd dice you up with a helicopter rotor.

 

If I went AFK in passive mode, I'd either find an impenetrable balcony spot or wall breach. So, no... I don't miss lastgen passive mode at all.

Don't expect to get a lot of support for this, OP. But I do miss it sometimes. When people start using passive mode to further their griefing and trolling, or to follow you around and be obnoxious, or to help their friends out in battles (by standing right in front of you, preventing you from shooting, relaying your location, etc.), I find myself wishing for the days when there was still something you could do to people in passive mode. In some ways it's also better now (like for people actually using it for its intended purpose).

 

Personally I'd like to keep passive mode the way it is on current gen, but institute some additional cooldowns and measures to prevent people from exploiting it. But what do I know. Every time I bring this up I get shouted down by the "everything's fine the way it is" crowd.

1.NG passives are intangibility , appearing look like hologram/ghost and can actually pass to other players except NPC

2.using nearby vehicles also work , providing if your vehicle has sufficient speed and mass to intercept the ghost

3.there is always to exploit shortcomings of passives ( like car bowling , tank golf , flames created by tank cannon [ especially in grassy/wooden area ] , dynamic objects , hitched trailer , cargobob's flail , luring cops to shoot the ghost [ either by standing too close to them ] , trigger a " bullrun " to make the ghost run over by traffic , aircraft bailout )
