That Moment You Became That Which You Hated!

I'm a peaceful player and proud of it. I've disdained the mindless PvP in free-mode, and I look down on such players, from my pristine platform of goodness.

 

However, a few months ago, I was in a public session, in passive, just chilling and contemplating, while watching the mindless killing near Eclipse Towers, shaking my head at the wasted humanity, the pathetic ego-stroking, the utter pointlessness of it all.

 

Then I noticed that a few high level players in a crew were continuously griefing a new low level player. He was getting spawnkilled over and over again. It was heart-wrenching, to see a new, fresh-faced, happy player be so beaten down, so frustrated, so demoralized, and to imagine another ruined life, a traumatized, persecuted noob who would probably turn into the same kind of street trash that were destroying his innocence by the second.

 

I snapped. I just couldn't take it anymore. Against all my principles, betraying the entire arc of my peaceful virtual life, I turned off passive mode, and waited for 10 excruciating seconds before I could arm myself, to wreak justice upon the evildoers, the vile scum who were relentless in destroying the happiness and innocence of a fresh-out noob.

 

Finally, the countdown was over. I was mentally prepared to rain vengeance over all the scum on the streets. I opened my weapon wheel, selected my SNS pistol with 8 rounds of ammo (the only weapon I had), and joined the fray with full fury.

 

It didn't end well...

A big thing I used to be against griefing and killing randomly in general....but since the karuma,insurgent, hydra and limo with the gun were released, I find myself going on random killing sprees with crew and friends!

Oh, that's a nice video! The writing and delivery are so droll and and understated; and his pacifist point of view is a beautiful contrast with the violent nature of GTAV and GTA Online. Thanks much for sharing that link.

I constantly break my own golden rules and feel a little empty every time I do so.

Chasing fleeing targets after they know they've lost to me, killing low-levels who don't know when to stop coming after me, getting revenge with proximity mines and stickies, Hydra griefing the people who were previously in the sky themselves.

I have yet to kill even a single player with my tank though, and hopefully it stays that way.

I've still never killed a player with my tank. God, do I ever find myself in jets more and more often now, though.

I will always keep proximity mining people, and nothing will ever make me stop. My fair use jet creed however remains very much intact (i.e. not randomly killing underserving targets, only hunting people with bounties or as part of VIP/CEO).

I hated online players, never could enjoy the online life. I always preferred story modes or campaigns. More of an RPG player myself that enjoyed the single player experience.

 

Everything changed when I made my very own GTA online character.

I remember when I started, I'd be going about my business, exploring, when I'd be sniped from such a distance that the sniper wasn't even on the immediate radar. Why? Why kill me when I'm no threat, it was so infuriating.

 

As I'm typing this, I'm perched on a billboard in LS, all access routes proxi mined, scanning the distant roads through the scope of my heavy sniper, waiting for that blip to roll into view. Nobody in particular, just whoever lingers for a second too long, much like I used to.

It happened last night.

 

My friends and I act as the "Modder/Glitcher" trash clean up crew whenever we get into a session together. Because of this we have become a very deadly bunch as you have to in order to keep these idiots at bay. For the first time in a long time however we got into it with some other normies and completely obliterated them, way past the point where we should have sodded off and began Piracy.

 

I had a feeling it was too much and then sure enough my phone pings and the message read, "nice c heat s you guys are using there".

 

Triggered.

 

Edit - I have also been known to wholey ignore the point of "Hunt the Beast", just to run around the map and murder people for a few minutes -____-

It's something I've never done in real life, and couldn't see the point in doing it in a virtual world either. Single player's a different matter - it's not 'you'.

But when I found out the female character can have sex as though she's a man I had to check it out. You even get a blow job! You can do it on the beach in view of yachts while they're sniping at you. Basically, it's a funny thing to do. I couldn't see that before.

I never, ever use puss..hummm!...passive mode, but one day I pressed the wrong button to respawn faster. When I saw that my weapon wheel was not there, I felt shocked and shamefull (really!)

Today about 7-10 kids got into a golden luxor and flew off.....of course I had to go off the radar with my Hydra and pay them a visit. The reactions were glorious.

 

GLORIOUS.

 

But that said, that wasn't the moment when I became that which I hated No....sadly....after killing them I saw a CEO and his associate trying to deliver cargo.

 

I HATE when a-holes in jets do that to me but I just couldn't help it today. Dude got on his mic and started pleaing with me to leave his cargo alone and once I heard that, I felt really guilty and had to stop

Once upon a time when I wasn't avoiding public lobbies as much, I griefed a guy using an Insurgent, ranked up about 20 kills or so... But the guy started it and was using wallhacks so it pissed me off.

 

Another time I had some scrub kill me twice for no reason (IIRC he appeared to be friendly but then gunned me down when I got on a bike which disabled my passive mode) which really cranked me up so I followed him everywhere on the map and kept spawn killing him, then when he became wary of me I kept putting proxies in front of his garage, at the ammunation he was in and just about everywhere he went. I was just so pissed. And his messages asking me to leave him alone... Ha.

 

Also sometimes when I end up in a public lobby and am in a Lazer/Hydra I pretend to do air raids on people with bounties. I don't try to kill them (just blowing up surrounding cars and such) but I wonder whether they think I'm such a bad shot or just annoying. Any input?

Never really became that which I hate most, allthough I've been on the edge sometimes. I still keep a certain line of conduct, but I must confess to that one time back in the PS3 days when these modded Captures from that Spanish dude on Youtube where around, and I managed to pick up the taser just to try it out in a Public lobby. That moment when that one guy just looking for trouble came around and pulled out his AR on me, him laying helpless on the ground moments after, that will forever be chiseled in my mind.
