Level does NOT equal Skill

Hi All

This topic steams from $hit my Random Friends (you know, they're on your friends list and you play with them from time to time) and the things they have said concerning their level.

Ok, the best way to rank up is by doing missions. 95% passing rate and you can get one started within a 1m. That can't be said about Deathmatch.

Missions take very little skill. Over 50% of them you call up a chopper and smash X or A. In no way, shape or form is that skill. And the Armored Car, this thing has made so many lazy (no skill at all ) players. Using the karuma on heists is one thing but using it on missions (more so, that's all you ever use) is just lazy.

ex: I met this guy who was who was the definition of a Loser, Did drugs(more then just weed), Got kick out of High School, 24 with a 6 year old

AND

Said and showed how ranking up 5 times in one day was not impossible.

(Damn, you're going to go far in life)

Being in the 500s when I met him, so you all know, around this level, Ranking up takes a little more effort.

He strictly played missions, and he was obsessed with his level, proud of it, bragged about it, and many other little comments about it. Like, "Do you think we players kick us because we're such high levels (said to his 710 friend)

I'm seating there thinking " dear god, listening to you is nauseating"

We played a couple deathmatchs, yah, didn't work out too well for him. A real person doesn't go down with 2 shots

After a month I deciding it's best to move on and unfriend.

Another Example, Back in the early days, I met this player named JokerGod83. He was cool. Then the Rooftop Rumble Craze started except Joker took it to another level. Everyday until they nuked it, he played RR on repeat. He unfriended me a year and half ago, where at that time he was 730. He unfriended me probably because my other friend and him where going at it in freemode. He said something along the lines of "Hey watch it!, check out my level man" (730 was very high at that time) I didn't say anything,(the fight was between them) but it's like, your that level cause you play RR on repeat, not because you have any real skill.

Level does NOT equal Skill

Their's my rant for today :panic:

Whenever I hear some (usually 12 year old) idiot sh*t-talk about someone's level, I cringe. It's one of the most inconsequential things you can bash someone for in a game as vast and varied as GTAO.

Level should be, but isn't always indicative of a players skill overall. However take me for instance, I'm over 500, I can carry any mission myself, even w/ 3 afk teammates and not ever have a problem, not many people can do that. But deathmatches and stuff? That's not my forte, simply because I don't care for them, so I don't play them. This game has a lot of different modes, nobody will really master them all.

I dont really see the point of your post but it depends how you rank up. In general high rank=more experiance which transfres to more skill. If all you do is dm you will get good at them just like if all you do is missions you will eventually memorize them and be able to solo them. Like said no one is going to be the best at everything. There are way too many aspects of the game.

It's also hard to tell because some people only get their primarily character up to say 200 and then move up their secondary character after that point. But even still, I'll put it this way, I don't see a lot of great level 50s.

It does to a certain degree a level 100 is going to be far more skilled than a level 10 but when you start getting to the level 200+ area it can become pretty even

It seems obvious that rank does not equal skill of any type. Some skills are needed to reach 100+. However high levels of 300+ can be obtained with amount of play time and without developing more than average griefing, flying, racing, pvp, ect skills.

A level 50 character could have been started after someone developed skills with another character. Thus you have the very skilled low levels you meet.

The only real disadvantage for a level of 50 is less health.

Health is maxed at level 100 and everything is unlocked at 135. I wish there would be an option for money or xp when we reached level 135.

As I always say, level is never always an accurate representation of skill.

These 3 videos show this:

(P.S. To the attention-seeking, gimmicky posting moron that dwells within GTAForums, you may think I'm advertising my channel but all I see is jealousy in the purest form possible...)
