The Green Sabre
Does the game have enough new content and general improvements to warrant that price? The First Person Perspective mode looks kind of cool, and it has been a while since I last played the game. I'm asking from the perspective of a SP fan as I'm not a fan of Online. Thanks for the replies.
Edward Nashton
Depends on your financial situation and whatever else could be on sale. It's cool playing through the entire story in first person and getting an up close look at all the nooks and crannies of the world, but that's about it, aside from the improved visuals. If you could spare 36 bucks - then have at it, if there is something else out there on sale that you haven't played yet and you're interested in, I'd say go with that instead. Money is not an issue for me at the moment, I just want to know if the current gen version is worthy enough of being $36.
Algonquin Assassin
I'm not sure what this equates to in the Australian dollar (probably $50 or something), but nonetheless it's still pretty cheap. GTA V current gen is a far better experience than last gen. If you're not strapped for cash why not? Presidential
It's $41.99 for me and I still need to get a copy of it for XB1. Oh well, better than $60 for the digital version. Guess I'll be buying it today.

Who knows, maybe it's a good idea to get the current gen version in the event that a SP DLC does happen. What sort of things make this version far better than the last gen version? Yeah, I'd say it is - If you enjoyed the SP on last gen, go ahead and upgrade.
BenMitchell90
I actually just got an Xbox One the other day (my father came to visit and we celebrated Christmas early), and one of the first things I did was buy and download GTA V (I was going to wait, then I saw that low price and couldn't resist). I haven't gotten a whole lot of time with the game in yet (only just unlocked Michael), and lemme just say that the NG/CG/whatever you want to call it version feels muuuuch better to play. The most blatant update is probably the graphics, and I was actually surprised just how big a leap from the LG version it is. I knew it was an improvement, but watching videos and looking at screenshots doesn't do it justice - the opening bank heist, driving through the map for the first time, and looking out from the top of Mt. Chiliad at LS all lit up at night had my jaw on the floor. It also actually does quite a bit to fix one of my issues with the LG version, the relative lack of immersion. While the game is still lacking in interiors and side activities, there's a lot more traffic and people on the streets, and it does a lot to make the world feel more alive. The characters look much better, too. And what they did to the countryside is just amazing. While it still feels a little oddly designed, the vastly improved trees, grass/flowers and shrubs make the countryside look so much better and more like RDR. Love the new animals too, while I'm disappointed that there are no bears still, I love the rabbits, as well as all the new dogs and cats in the city. I haven't been in the ocean yet, so I can't wait to see the hammerheads, dolphins, whales and rays. The NG version also handles the DLC much better, in that it properly works it into the game from what I can see. You don't start the game with a damn arsenal right off the bat or a free garage and hanger for each protagonist. Rather, from what I can see, the new weapons unlock gradually (like I got an e-mail from Ammu-Nation that the brass knuckles were now available) and they even work the DLC cars into the traffic, a great touch. I honestly never really cared about first-person view, and finally getting my hands on it, it's still not something I'll ever really use a lot (beyond the occasional immersive lark), but if you're interested, it's really cool. I was really impressed by just how seamless it is switching from third to first person, and it actually makes for a great "zoom" button if you want to get a closer look at something (like the very limited FPS in III and VC). And who knows, maybe one day I'll give an entirely first-person playthrough a shot. And the soundtrack, oh my god the soundtrack. The soundtrack is still pretty flawed overall (especially LSRR), but they've added soooo many great new songs, with well-known classics mixed with obscure gems. As someone who found the LG soundtrack really repetitive and many stations not having enough songs, this is a big plus for me. So yeah, I'd say it's worth the upgrade. Despite my gripes with V, I've always really liked the game, and I'm liking it even more on NG. So much so that I'm really excited about this game again, probably the most I've been about it since... early 2014? I haven't even touched stuff like Director Mode, can't wait to try that out. But yeah, if you've got the cash, give it a shot. The Green Sabre
Sentinel Driver
I'd recommend the ps4 version over the xbox one version because - Less framerate drops - More grass - More players - PS4 exclusive touchpad controls - PS + is cheaper than Xbox live gold But shortly, yes upgrading is worth it
The Green Sabre
I'd recommend the ps4 version over the xbox one version because - Less framerate drops - More grass - More players - PS4 exclusive touchpad controls - PS + is cheaper than Xbox live gold But shortly, yes upgrading is worth it I only have an Xbox One. I'm a big fan of the Xbox IPs like Halo, Gears of War, Fable, and the Rare IPs, so the Xbox One was a no brainer. I bought the Xbox One version a few days ago, and I'm satisfied. While the countryside still has an odd design in some areas, the additional foliage and animals help make the rural areas feel more immersive. The soundtrack is much better, with songs like Fortunate Son and Danger Zone making the radio stations feel more well rounded (especially LSRR). The first person perspective is also cool, and I find myself using it most of the time (the shooting range and flying close to the ground are the exceptions). I like the integration of the DLC vehicles in the world, which helps make the world feel more diverse. While the lack of important side activities like basketball or vigilante is disappointing, I'm happy with the Xbox One version, and now I'm prepared for the Story Mode DLC to come out (hey, a man can dream), BenMitchell90
ChiroVette
Honestly, if you already own the game on a last gen console, then I would seriously consider buying it on the PC for better graphics and all the available mods. That is, of course, if you have a rig that can run the game. The PC version is also on sale on Steam, by the way. $35.99 holiday special.
