Online Racing: Is the Blade really that useless in races these days?

If you are consistent and good with the Dominator, stick with that.

A consistent Dominator driver will usually win against an equally skilled consistent Blade driver, in my experience. Even on short turn heavy tracks.

While the Dominator's a potent vehicle, it has a lot of oversteer and is prone to spins even with the use of brakes. I sold the Dominator (twice) because of its tendency to spin out too many times in races. A great driver combined with a car's poor handling doesn't mix well together IMO.

But the dominator does not really have a huge advantage on short tracks or rally style tracks as it would on tracks where it can maintain alot of its speed through out.

Its the straights that push the dominator ahead of the rest of the muscles. I know a few of my tracks i made for muscles are designed in a way to remove that advantage. On those tracks dukes and blade usually put up the better times. The dominator simply cannot use its speed to get ahead.

I can bet that if that driver who is fast with the dominator on those short or rally style tracks used a slower muscle.. They would still put up just as fast times or in some case even faster.

Just saying in my personal experience. I only use the Dom for racing now as I seem to get better times with it regardless of the track, short, long, curvey or straight. Others may be different, I just don't find the extra traction of the Blade or Dominator to make a difference, since I can keep the Dom under control,

I can agree in most cases since from what i see players always race muscles on tracks that usually favor the dom right out of the gate.

But..Most of my muscle tracks have dirt roads or dirt sections with some really wild turns, bumps. Which for the most part is the dominator weakness. Taking a duke or blade on these tracks and you will see the dominator pull a head for few seconds and then lose those seconds at on the dirt.. While a blade or dukes simply dives right through the turns with ease.

Also... its good to make sure players don't always use the same cars and always race the same tracks that favor those cars. Or all muscle cars races will be are dominator races. Which is what i try to avoid.

I agree that off road/dirt tracks can change things dramatically. Or rain.

Of course, I own every Muscle car in the game, so it isnt that big of a deal for me lol.

Then I'll keep it, just in case. I don't like racing the same tracks over and over again unless I'm hotlapping, I guess I'll try to find tracks that favor the Blade, and practice to see until/if I can beat my Dominator.

Thanks everyone. :)

Well you're talking to someone who thinks a muscle car race with out dirt is muscle car race with no soul...lol

I also leave wanted levels on in muscle car races.. which some people tend to hate.

When i think muscle car races..its has dirt. bumps.. cops.. sh*t breaking.. hidden jumps. Lots of bangin and clangin with dirt flying everywhere. :D

I prefer the Blade because I’m more consistent with it. It’s more forgiving to drive and on a proper racing circuit can easily keep up with the Dominator. That said it takes some getting used to because it drives differently than any other car.

Most cars you can just ease off the throttle, or just tap the brakes, and feather them through the turn. With the Blade you need to really go heavy the brakes, set it into the turn, and then take advantage of its acceleration coming out. It always takes a lap or two for me to get reacquainted with the Blade.

The muscle class is really even at the top, the Dominator, Blade, Dukes, Blackfin, are all dead even with the Ruiner and Sabre Turbo just slightly off. In the right hands any of those can win.

Lol, sorry, but I'm speaking of competitive racing, No traffic, no cops, slipstream and catch up off, and of course, set in standard, not gta race. :'v

The only thing that makes it truly NON competitive is catch up being on. Everything is optional.

For me.. this is GTA. Cops being on doesn't not make it any less competitive.. Same with slip stream which i do turn on.. on some tracks where there is way to many straights.. Cops being on simply give it more of an illegal type feel which is perfect in racing on GTA. It adds alot of drama and fun moments IF cops decide to show up.

Traffic can make dull races pretty nuts. But traffic only works well on certain tracks where there enough room for play.

Even GTA race mode can allow players to make GP style tracks with pit lanes.

But all those option don't make it non competitive.. Its just different styles of racing.

Blasterman4EVER

The only people I occasionally lose to (provided I don't screw up) are those driving a fully modded Gauntlet. I almost always take down Dominator drivers, unless they are absolutely amazing.

If you are getting beaten by a Gauntlet, you arent even close to being good. That thing is a slow piece of crap.

Gnocchi Flip Flops

There are just some cars that weren't made for racing. I wish people would realize that.

I've owned both and I still prefer to race with the blade, sold the dominator. but now since the blackfin is out thats all i'm using anymore. i've done a few muscle races with redrum and ive seen the blade win just as much as the dominator. i think it comes down to driver preferance and driving style. drive them both and decide for yourself.

Sorry for rudeness, but most people in this thread aren't in the level I'm asking someone to give me an advice, thanks to everyone though. :)

Not at all...if you can drive it it goes around corners like still no other muscle car can....the acceleration out of the corners is insane
