It's worth it to keep at least 10 million in the bank.

10 million should be your absolute base money. At this point, that's poor (if you're a day one player).

Meh, how come it's always the ones who don't have money that love to talk s**t about the ones who do? Funny that, isn't it? :sarcasm:

People just see a high level or a lot of money, then go on about how you're either a no - life or a "haxor".

It's usually worth keeping a million anyway - you never know when some surprise limited edition content might drop, so it's always worth having a 'rainy day' fund :)

Well, apart from paying your bodyguards you don't lose anything, but the VIP title is nothing special.

It's still smart to always have at least 2 or 3 million in your bank for a rainy day.

Anyone who's been playing for more than a few days should really be holding over 1 mil anyway as a golden rule, or else you'll be having to go mad over lack of cash.

I've just being doing VIP work - the pay's not bad and it makes a change from grinding missions. VIP's definitely worth it - and as a bonus you get bodyguards, and abilities, etc.

I'd say to always keep a minimum of 5m but most frequent players probably won't dip below 20m bucks. It all depends on how much you like spending when new dlc is released and and always having enough in reserve.

Without glitching or hacking money in any way?

Yes.

The most I had was 88 million. Then the Lowrider Update came out and went down to 80 million. Got back up to 87 million (half assed playing) then the Executive Update and I'm down to 68 million.

All legit.

At this point, I'm not going to allow myself to dip below 50 million. But let's say I went insane...I would/could never allow myself to go past the 10 million mark as I consider that to be scraping the barrel when you're a day one player.

well well... this is exactly why i enjoyed the good old hookerglitch times so much!

that insane greed over virtual money to the point where it HURTS to spend money was blasted away with one glitch

and GTA became a good game.

me as a "day one player" (as you would call it) wouldnt wanna be enslaved to my gta bank account. i did that for my first few sports cars before i realized that i dont play gta the way i like but the way it needs to be played for earning money. cashcards couldnt help because having a few millions while there is a garage that wants to be filled with expensive cars just doesnt keep u rich.

anyway, later on in 2013 i got lucky and recieved modded millions. i liked that. i loved it. i started to just play the game and be a friendly player, i didnt care if i lost money because of someone causing me alot of expenses.

now with the latest updates that hookerglitchmoney is gone and i have no intension on grinding a heist or a job.

i like freeroam and i like the way the game evolves in that direction. its way easier to get money, but the things are also waaaaay more expensive. gta:o finally became a solid cashcow for rockstar and guess what? after selling a few unused expensive cars to get the yacht i bought a cashcard!

i pay for it. i give in rockstar. you sorted out the glitches (i missed a good one, thanks to fallout4). i dont play alot anymore. i only wanna be in free roam with a new car or something. so i pay.

point is: not every "day one player" gives a sh*t about that greedy economy system and thinks that keeping the money is a goal.

It doesn't hurt to spend. I just think about the next update. Obviously I don't have a problem spending. I've spent 155,000,000. I just make sure I have money for the next update...

I play the game so I don't have to grind like an update is a final exam.

I don't get this "you should have 5 millions in your bank all the time" -talk. There is more than 100M to be spent if you want everything for 2 of your characters. So I don't understand why save the money, when it can be spent and enjoyed. If there are some limited time items to be added in the game one must remember that you can make 1M in a day by grinding missions or heists. I had no money when the halloween update dropped, but I just worked my way to buy it all for both of my characters.

Actually this VIP system is the first time when there is a real need for me to have money in the bank. I have made over 160M in the game and spent 159M. Why is it cool to store $ in your bank? It's not necessary. If you want to live like a wealthy person, spend, spend and spend. I have no need to buy anything in the game anymore. But if I really want something, I work myself to get it. That way it feels nice to own it.

That may work for you but not me. Grinding for a thing feels terrible for me because each time im playing im focusing on the thing I dont have and not the enjoyment I should be feeling in the present. Thats a good way to kill a game for me, and it did for about a month and a half. I personally dont want to allow a scenario to come up where I have to grind to get "x". When "x" comes out ill buy it if it suits my character. I can then use x to enjoy the process of grinding back my money. For me grinding towards an intangible number feels a hell of a lot better then grinding towards a thing i really want to use.

I'd say yes because at least one of the VIP missions has a good payout and you can play it by yourself (but I'm that odd person that ends up playing this game by herself anyways. I mostly started online cause I liked how you could keep the cars better and I wanted to get a car collection in this game. It kinda pisses me off that SP has such a sh*tty garage system. It's pointless).

And I wish I had the luxory to say I'd keep at least 10 million in the game. I never have managed to reach 10 million (got really close. But then got to a point I was kinda bored with the game and figured I had enough I wasn't going to worry about grinding anymore so wasted a little of it. But not so much I couldn't afford a yacht when it came out :). But I tell you, having a million still left in the bank has made it easier to recover some of the money).

I don't regret most of my purchases. I in general didn't buy stuff just to buy stuff but because I wanted it (with the exception of a lowrider which was the purchase cause I figured I had a lot of money, what else was I going to do with it, and why not? Kinda wish now maybe I didn't but it didn't keep me from getting a yacht but maybe I could have gotten a customized apartment). There's a few things that after getting them I probably could do without (like the Savage).

In general I've decided not to go below 1 million cause being able to do at least the sightseer VIP mission has made grinding a little easier. Do the mission, then do something else to get some money while it cools down. Do it again. And I like flying helicopters and it's making me better at landing them so that's cool too (I like the challenge of trying to land them in various places).

Hmmm, keeping $10 million in the bank? I'm crunching some numbers, and for me, I'm not sure I'd ever be able to do that as a legit player.

Well, let me reveal some stats from my character:

- Level 435

- $107,200,000 million spent

- $870,000 in the bank

- 78 days of online play time

- 5 luxury properties

- All garages are full with 100% fully modded vehicles, including:

  • All lowriders
  • All super cars (except the Vacca, but that doesn't count  )
  • nearly all sports cars
  • nearly all sports classics (no Stinger, Monroe, or Sterling, but I've owned all three and had to trash them - they're wastes)
  • NO street cars - if you can steal it, I don't want it (the average value of one of my garaged vehicles is probably between $750,000 and $1,000,000, maybe more)
  • Armored Kuruma, Insurgent, Brawler

- 30 Pegasus vehicles, including:

  • Hydra
  • Rhino
  • Annihilator
  • Buzzard
  • Titan
  • Luxor
  • Dump
  • Shamal
  • Frogger

- all weapons, with all relevant modifications

- full ammo at all times

- the majority of all clothing items in the game, including:

  • every suit
  • every pair of shoes except the lowrider update stuff
  • almost all all watches and most of the necklaces
  • almost all of the sunglasses

So, that means I've made at the very maximum, roughly $109 million, and spent almost everything I've ever made.

Also, I bounty, mug, and (occasionally) mercenaries players almost every single player session. It is definitely rare for me not to bounty or mug a player. I always bounty and mug that player with the highest K/DR as soon as I enter the session.

So I'm doing the math, and I'm not sure how I would ever be able to just sit on millions of dollars. I always spent it and use it. I could easily sell off assets and make a bunch of money, but I prize everything I own.

So, considering $100 million plus is roughly a legit income number for somebody at level 400, unless you don't like to own a lot of high-priced items, I'm going to have to say it's not worth it.

However, I could grind a short while again, and then be a millionaire again, so I'm undecided at the moment.

I'm not going to make any accusations against people glitching money in this thread, but I'd assume that if you save over 10 million dollars at any given time and around the same level as me, you don't hold the same assets that I do.

The fastest sports classic car in the game by quite a large margin is a waste?

The only time a Stirling GT should ever lose a race is on a track with lots of long straights as it's overall top speed is low. But on 90% of races where cornering and acceleration >>> top speed, the Stirling wins over a Casco or Z-Type easy. It has the best acceleration and traction (with the spoiler, aka spare tire) hands down in it's class.

And that car is a waste???

It's been said, but You can spawn a Buzzard to where you are, no going off to a helipad to get it.. So hell yes.. I like that.. It's worth it..

I respect your way to play. The main thing about this game is that it can be enjoyed in a million ways. One thing that I didn't point out enough was that I've made over 160M, and I still don't own everything. If I happen to have 3M in the bank, I'm always looking for something to buy for either one of my characters. I love to collect cars, pegasus vehicles, etc. I already own all the clothing, masks and gun accessories/updates. No matter how much I would make, I would never be able to own everything. Or to be honest, I don't have time to play that much that I would own everything. Therefore I play everyday like it's my last, and spend all the money I have. Before the Heists update I had 13M in the bank, and it was blown off in 2 days. I've never since thought of saving for something, I'm already pleased with the current stuff that I have. But on the other hand I'd like to own all the color variants of the Marshall, so that requires over 10M of grinding. Will I grind it someday, who knows...

Maybe my thoughts are hard to explain, but what I mean is that at the moment there is no such thing in the game that I would like to own for a reason. The game is enough for me if I can play golf and missions with a car and Combat MG. I visited a couple of friends Yachts, and I saw enough. I don't really need to own one. But on the other hand I'd like to collect everything, if I just had the time to gather 200M or something like that to buy all the stuff for 2 characters. If R* would announce something that really interests me (Roosevelt 2 for example), and it would be a limited time item, I would start to grind.

These were just thoughts, probably hard to read/understand, sorry.

TLDR; Play the game as you wish, enjoy!
