Simple question.

Do you think it is worth it to keep a million dollars in the bank in order to access V.I.P. status?

Or is it a waste, and that money would be better spent on something else?

I won't go below 75 milion. Never know when the private island update comes out.

I don't involve myself with players that have less than 50 milion anymore, after the VIP update. So if you could put the amount in your signature, thank you.

How is this even a question? Instaspawn free Buzzard!

Free only if you already have one, went to do a sightseer on my second character to level up but was 25k for a buzzard.. Cue driving flat out across the whole map and barely making it in time

^ I totally love the return of the Buzzard as a common vehicle because I can fly the ass off that thing, unguided missiles FTW. It laughs at homing missiles at close range. I guess I'm GTA-old enough that both my characters have one just because it was the only armed pegasus thing for like 18 months.

Hmmm, keeping $10 million in the bank? I'm crunching some numbers, and for me, I'm not sure I'd ever been able to do that as a legit player.

Well, let me reveal some stats from my character:

- Level 435

- $107,200,000 million spent

- $870,000 in the bank

- 78 days of online play time

- 5 luxury properties

- All garages are full with 100% fully modded vehicles, including:

  • All lowriders
  • All super cars
  • nearly all sports cars
  • nearly all sports classics
  • NO street cars (the average value of one of my garaged vehicles is probably between $750,000 and $1,000,000)

- 30 Pegasus vehicles, including:

  • Hydra
  • Rhino
  • Annihilator
  • Buzzard
  • Titan
  • Luxor
  • Dump
  • Shamal
  • Frogger

- all weapons, with all relevant modifications

- full ammo at all times

- almost every clothing article in the game, including:

  • every suit
  • every pair of shoes except the lowrider update stuff
  • almost all all watches and most of the necklaces
  • almost all of the sunglasses

So, that means I've made at the very maximum, roughly $109 million, and spent almost everything I've ever made.

Also, I bounty, mug, and mercenaries players almost every single player session.

So I'm doing the math, and I'm not sure how I would ever be able to just sit on millions of dollars. I always spent it and use it. I could easily sell off assets and make a bunch of money, but I prize everything I own.

So, considering $100 million plus is roughly a legit income number for somebody at level 400, unless you don't like to own a lot of high-priced items, I'm going to have to say it's not worth it.

However, I could grind a short while again, and then be a millionaire again, so I'm undecided at the moment.

I'm not going to make any accusations against people glitching money in this thread, but I'd assume that if you save over 10 million dollars at any given time and around the same level as me, you don't hold the same assets that I do.

I have currently 50 million lvl 425, but I dont own hardly any cloths, most of my cars are cheap street spawns and I dont have much from pegasus, I also own 3, 10 car garages, 2 cheap apartments. No yacht.. At least you have enjoyed your money. Unless I'm heisting the only ammo I have I find on the ground.

Too right it is, The update wiped me out but I made almost $500,000 last night in about 3 hours just from spamming Hostile takeover & Sightseer. At that rate I will be back upto $10 million in no time plus the ability to spawn a buzzard is just GTA heaven.

Was about to make the same topic, Is it worth keeping $106.000.000.000 in the bank to be a VIP? If not, hold on and let me waste the next couple years of my life taking it from the bank.

It'd be nice if just once there wasn't a topic with money in the title where 15 different people dropped in to casually mention their illicit millions...

I have just got the update and I haven't played VIP mode yet. Can you play it in an invite only session with a couple of friends to grind the cash?

I think keeping a million in the bank is for sure the new baseline. Being able to open VIP is a huge boon. Your buddies get paid and you can launch freemode missions that pay quite nicely. Plus if you have a group of friends alternating whose VIP and competing hard in freemode events you can make a lot of money without needing to jump into a loading screen. And if you don't like doing stuff in freemode you've probably got money to spare since the richest people I've seen are the hardcore deathmatch and race players.

As for what your baseline should be it's different for everyone. I am typically broke. I earn up a bunch of cash because I have my eyes on a prize and then I buy that prize. I was knee deep into fallout 4 when I heard about Yachts so I had to change gear and earn 8 million in a week. But I'm fine with that. I spend very deliberately. You could boil my entire car collection down to 20 cars but I would never get rid of any of them. I have no superflous pegasus vehicles except for maybe a little redundancy in the Hydra/Savage/Buzzard but they all fill their own roles.

I play vip jobs alone in invite only

I don't know if it's worth it for the reason of being VIP, but honestly, if I'm just sitting in my yacht lately, with defenses on I just look for bodyguards and I figure - unless I'm wrong on my thinking - if I'm sitting on the yacht and no one can get to me, they just keep getting the full $5K every 15 minutes for doing whatever they wanted while I look at the view or do whatever and maybe if I feel like it and they're around, starting the VIP work where you defend the yacht.

I try to get low level players because I figure hey, if they can get $5K every 15 minutes and some RP, why not? Like if I sit in my yacht as a VIP and go do the dishes or whatever nonsense, bodyguards keep getting full pay and their pay can't go down.

Yes that's what I did. I went into Invite only solo & just did Hostile for $16,000 & Sightseer for $22,000 over & over. You can also do one where you retrieve a car if you have to wait too long for the others to regenerate but it only pays $10,000.The other missions like piracy are all locked out as you need to be in free roam to complete them.

Since I bought this game 3 days ago I've played 57 hours, own a 1.1m Custom Apartment, an Armored V12, and a couple of stolen cars with about 2M in the bank... I'm just now starting to burn out a little.

Gonna re-enter the real world for a bit...

I feel Why some are mentioning this when op asked a completely different question is to reveal its not in anyones best interest to think along those lines. Of course its worth 1 mil for vip but if you have time to play for a few hours a day you should shoot for 10-20 mil. It may sound nonsensical but Future you will think its worth it when the next update drops and you still have millions left.

Off topic... do you guys realize R* continually mocks the player base, continually mentions we suck and play the game wrong. Enter EOC... 9 mil yacht, 1 mil customizable apt, expensive stilt homes and a minimum requirement for 1 mil to be a vip.

Its... its like they're hinting to pursue millions by rewarding players for having at least 1 million in the bank. But clearly everyone with 10+ million are stupid and playing the game wrong. I mean, clearly!

Wait a sec...

You can run some of the VIP missions solo and earn money on your own in an empty lobby? Nevermind I like VIP now. lol

I still have voted undecided, but I am going to try keeping a million for a while and see what it is like. I did it for a bit after the update and didn't care. Decided to buy a bunch of cars and let it go. We shall see.

10 million should be your absolute base money. At this point, that's poor (if you're a day one player).

Gonna have disagree here.

Im a day one player and the most i have ever had in the bank at one time is about 12 mil. Which got spent in seconds on the yacht.

Not that im poor.. I have everything i want. I have two characters... now with 10 garages with 10 slots. I spent a sh*t ton of money on everything and saving money just doesn't go well with me.

The moment i get to around a million..I just start burning money. Paint jobs...hell i've dropped $700 000 in on one car just to end up with the same paint job i started with.

Some of us just don't save that well..lol

Wait, wait --- all of that is nuts, and quite impressive, but how much playtime do you have?

128 days

And I'm kind of foggy on the reset to zero thing? Are you talking about character wipes?

I'm just stating it here in public as I explained (hopefully well enough) to you via PM. I don't mean a literal reset. I mean that I bank whatever I've decided is my baseline and I don't go below it. If I have 5 million banked and I decide that is my baseline, I don't buy anything that takes me below that. I just make the money above that amount and spend THAT money. And over time you just wind up building on top of what you have.

And have you ever bought a shark card?

No I haven't, and I won't. But I also don't sh*t on folks that do...it's just not for me. If there is ever a time in this game where I can't earn the money through the game and HAVE to buy Shark Cards? That's the day I stop playing.

Basically, what is your total legit income/money spent? And your hours played?

I calculated adding up all car sales and jobs I've earned legitimately approximately $209,000,000 and I've spent approximately $155,000,000 which leaves a balance of $54,000,000. I have $68,000,000 which is a discrepancy that can be explained by Rockstar crediting my account $10,000,000 for the Criminal Mastermind Challenge Bug I suffered from.

That leaves about $4 million unaccounted for. During the Billionaire I had $5 million legitimate dollars before being "gifted" with 1.2 billion. After talking with support about removing the money, (which we all know they didn't do until February) I bought things as we were told we weren't going to be penalized. So I wound up spending my 5 million in the process along with 4 million of the glitched money. Money wipe happened, got my seed money of $500,000 and built back up what we're discussing today.

If I have one regret, it was that I didn't spend more than 4 million of that glitched money as we weren't penalized by the removal of items. I wouldn't have stopped at buying my male a tank and a buzzard. I would've gotten all of the Pegasus vehicles. At the same time though...I've always believed in being legit, so that's probably why I didn't go hog wild. But hindsight is always 20/20.

And it's probably a good thing, cause my stats would be even more jacked up than they already are and I wouldn't be able to separate my legit stats from the "Billionaire Days" fiasco.

Alright. Thanks.

I got hit with about 4 billion gifted during the billionaire days. I mostly used it for stupid stuff, but you couldn't really put a dent in that kind of money. That's why I was able to buy every Pegasus vehicle that was available at the time (though I did buy most of those before being gifted, except the useless ones). I remember that when I had all that money, I was so bored with the game that I quit playing. That was my 8 month hiatus.

You're probably one of the longest running, highest earning, highest level (combined), highest bank account holding legit players in GTAO.

Is there anything that could ever be released that would make you dip into your retirement funds?

I still don't think that being a day one player with less than ten million makes one poor.

This update did. As I spent about $19 million. I wanted to get to $100 million but I'm further away from the goal now.

I don't know if there is anything they would put out that would make me dip below $50 million. I know that I feel the need to get my money back up after all that I spent on this update. So unless they put out a mansion that's 50 million dollars...I think I'll always wind up saving enough between these updates, so as to not dip below my baseline I've set.
