R* punishes players for being a higher level

In adversarial modes where the number of players on your team may well be the fundamental difference between winning and losing, why must higher ranked players be subjected to unfair team balancing allocations?

Being a level 250+ player, 9 times out of 10 I am allocated to a team with fewer players than the other side. My understanding of this poorly executed team balancing strategy is to avoid a group of low level players pitted against high levels on the not necessarily true notion of 'theyre a higher level, so they must be more skilled'. Therefore placing the higher level player/s on the team with fewer players means the game will be fair. Wrong!

Rockstar's logarithm is seemingly biased towards those that have spent countless hours playing and appreciating the game they have created. Has it not occurred to them to use a variety of stats - KDR, win/loss ratio etc. - in addition to individual ranks to create balanced teams. Random allocation wouldn't hurt, either.

But alas R* declare I should be placed on the team with fewer players match after match, on the basis of me having of high rank. Where's the fairness in that?

I have noticed this as well, luckily my mlg420 leet skills make up for the lack of teammates.

Well I got punished trying to get my hydra from Sandy shores last night from that GOD FORSAKEN gang attack rockstar still haven't removed. You can walk through mastermind challenge with your eyes closed then get killed 4 times in 30 seconds just walking to your hydra by guys that don't even show up on the radar.. Gang attacks do almost nothing to you at a low level but they DRILL you will minigun headshot after headshot at a high level. What a bullsh*t.

It's simple: team balance. As a level 180ish my teammates are usually the ones ranging from levels 20 to 70, while the other team gets the higher levels.

Yesterday I played a Extraction game and the team was 5 bodyguard, 2 Attacker, 1 VIP...I was one of the attacker and no chance to win.

This has always been an issue, it's one of the reasons I stay away from Death Matches. I'm at level 413 and without fail, I'll be teamed up with the low levels and placed on the team that's short a player. I'm not great at Death Matches. I can hold my own but I sure as hell can't carry an outnumbered team with low level players against a team with more advanced, higher level players. I also have a different play style. I'm slow and methodical, I don't like running into an open field and just shooting things. This means that my slow approach to stealthy, deliberate kills isn't enough to help my team win. As for adversary modes...I can't take any of those too seriously, many of them are just broken and unbalanced. I play them, but I can't get upset when I'm on the losing side.

That is the most simple way to try to have some kind of balance. Teams have approximate median of the levels, and to me it makes sense that low level is with higher level, other way around would be unfair as hell. Uneven player count has to be on either, and it should be on the team with higher combined rank.

I don't mean that system is great and without flaws, but it ain't that bad. I think that usually legit level 300 player is going to sweep the floor with a few level 100-150's. Not always, but often.

There is the issue of how you have accumulated your levels, i have almost exclusively played missions, with little time on freeroam or Deathmatches, so I'd be gun fodder to pretty much everyone, but i try to look at the bigger picture.

It's nothing new that Rockstar tries to make the game fairer for lower level/skilled players by punishing/making it unfair for the higher level/skilled players

- Not Level Locking DLC weapons ( Level 1 players have access to proxy mines/launchers/Semi-Auto Snipers/Launchers/Auto Shotguns/Powerful Pistols/etc. )

- Power Player ( In DM, the best performing player: Takes Double Damage, Is always revealed on the radar, gets a bounty placed on, and cursed with a red pulsing filter until they die )

- Loosing Streak Player ( In DM, an under performing players has the option to: Deal 4X damage/Reveal All Players FREE )

- Team Balancing ( It's assumed that a high-level can carry a team of low-levels against a larger team of mid-levels )

- DM Payouts ( The best performing player earns the exact same GTA$/RP as the worst performing player in their team )

DM in a nutshell: 50% Skill - 50% Luck

And what makes you so concerned about where this topic belongs? I published this topic as means for discussion relating to the aforementioned grievance myself - and others if you bothered to read others responses - have experienced. Carry on - no need to derail the thread even further over such a silly reason. Edited by Tacts_21

Solid Scorpion

I opened the thread expecting to see all players above 100 being banned cause that's high this long after release apparently.

Yeah level isn't really an indicator of skill but higher levels do have access to a greater arsenal.

I'd say about 40% of the high levels I meet are legit and have the experience to match.

It's the luck of the draw.

I think it's fair. Ordinarily higher ranks are "better" players so they can carry their team better. For example, what's more fair in a 2v2 basketball game, LBJ and Steph Curry vs Jeff Green and Brandon Knight or LBJ and Knight vs Curry and Green?

I have friends in the rank 200 or so range and when i play with them even when against low levels the difference is so minor like 2v1 or 3v2 or 7v8 or some number like that usually the team is losing by one or two players not much more truly it isn't that unbalanced especially when in almost any game you will find lvl 10s and 20s and guaranteed a level 20 (new player) is worse than a level 200 (experienced player)

Well you can avoid the scenario, even though it is a bit tedious:

1. Drive up to the airfield and see the gang attack active (If it isn't, skip to 6)

2. Turn on your radio if it's off

3. Trigger it by shooting randomly, ramming or shooting the first guy

4. Drive away until your radio is un-muted

5. Drive back

6. Hydra!

Miss Malevolent

I just wished it didn't do that silly sh*t when I'm doing these modes with my crew.

Why must I be the odd person out? The point is to play with my crewmates...hence why we're in a crew.

Fairness be damned.

I agree with one of the posters above. I never play team deathmatches because I'm slow, stealthy and methodical. I cannot make up for the idiots on my side who like to run out into the open for quick kills.

When i see my team is way weaker than the other one i quickly go out before the match starts. I am dm player, and unfortunelly it happens a lot. Its ridiculos, sometimes one team is full of lvl 200+ and my team have only me and other above lvl 200.

That's interesting. I played a couple of games the other day where there were too many bodyguards, so they could camp at the extraction point and also swarm the VIP.

Further to the OP, R*s biased algorithm automatically places the team with fewer players (ie. the one the highest level is almost guaranteed to be on) on Team 2. Thus playing maps such as Zentornos vs Runners where team allocation may well mean winning or losing, puts you at an even greater risk of losing. But yet again stupidity and nonsensical prevails when the logical step would be to randomly allocate the side with with less players to either Team 1 OR Team 2. After all, one would think it would be such a simple fix to correct this grievance.

Lol. I always get a bad team no matter if I play GTA, BF, CoD, Arma. All games use the same stupid stuff I'm level 500 with a 30 K/D he needs to be with the level 6 and 10 while the other team is 4 200's. Owned plus pickups so have fun with the RPG spam.

Who is more likely to buy a shark card? A high level player who has unlocked all the content and bought everything with the millions youve earned playing the game? Or some low level who just started playing a week ago and sucks ass but thinks yachts look pretty cool?

Ultimately, the game favors those players over you, since those are the players funding the development of gta 6 and the next new disappointing update which will bring in even more cash card sales for rockstar. You still have the advantage of being more experienced, knowing the game inside and out, and having the freedom to choose what you play. You can either find ways of playing this game that work for you, or do something else.

As much as GTAO sucks sometimes, so far i have always found ways to play it that make it fun for me. When that dries up, well that's when i will find new games to play. So far its been a good run.

What exactly has the radio to do with this?

Drive in, trigger it, drive away, done.

The issue with the latest Adversary Modes, especially Drop Zone, is that people let team balancing off by default and/or start with an uneven amount of players. If you get into an AM lobby with team balancing off, back out and host your own with team balancing on and only start it with an even amount of players. Rounds set to 2 max, quitters gonna quit and ruin the original balance.
