Thoughts about the Super Yacht's defenses?

I don't have a next gen console yet, but I'm planning to get one. I was doing some research on those Super Yachts, and I thought the Yacht defense mechanic was a fantastic idea. However, I came across a comment on YouTube saying that it was only encouraging "P*ssy tactics" by making players safe against other players.

I like the whole defense system, but what do you guys think about it?

its your yacht and you should be able to deny other players acces, even kick them of. unless you start a figth with someone just to then run to your yacht then it's not a pussy tactic to use your defense system, this is a sandbox game heavily focused on cars and activitys of all sorts, there are guns but this is NOT call of duty, if you would like to have fun and not figth you should be able to do so, people who think they should always be able to kill you should just stick with call of duty

the super yacht anti aircraft is awful, its like the valkyrie explosive rounds but it fires faster and does any aircraft in one hit, i flew a lazer out of fort zancudo and was trying to stay low and was over the water when i heard that australian dude say "prepare to swim hard" and i was downed in seconds, i didnt engage the yacht and had no time to get out of its airspace

Can you swim up to the yacht or just fly a non-hostile aircraft without activating the system? How does passive mode work in this instance?

Can you swim up to the yacht or just fly a non-hostile aircraft without activating the system? How does passive mode work in this instance?

 

you can swim up to the yacht and climb up on it, and you can land on in a heli in passive mode but the owner will usually just move the yacht, even flying a frogger half a mile to the left of the yacht is apparently grounds enough to shoot down anybody not in passive mode

Yachts defenses are great idea but a bit poorly executed.

 

Before the captain actually kills the target, he fires warning shots first. However the captain fires way too much warning shots. There have been instances where a jet could litterly hover around for a while before captain finally decided to actually kill him.

The only people making stupid comments about 'pussy tactics' when it comes to yachts. Are free roam trolls in armed air crafts who attack yachts.

 

 

For me.. a jet troll crying about yachts is the best thing about the yacht in terms of using in free roam. No one really gives a sh*t what they think..

The premise of yachts in GTA Online is a bit convoluted or inconsistent in that an apartment (by its nature) limits strangers to the outskirts of the building--the public area outside. No problem there; the worst a stranger can do is troll/grief the entrance(s) for the apartment (and garage if there is one).

 

Not so with yachts--players can walk around on board (sans weapons if defenses are turned on), but only require an invite to enter the interior.

 

I suspect what many yacht owners might like (or expect) is a way to ensure that no-one can even set foot on board when defenses are turned on, bringing it more into line with how apartments work; after all, people who own yachts DID pay a heck of a lot more for them than people who bought apartments...

Agreed; I learned this the hard way in my Buzzard...fly fast enough toward it and you won't have time to turn around and leave before you virtually disintegrate in the air.

 

Lesson learned; but an earlier warning is needed--there's little point in saying "go away" if there's no time to do just that.

It's funny how aircraft get disintegrated, while you can calmly board the yacht with your boat and punch the hell out of everyone. (R* is rather literal about "not being able to access weapons")

 

It should be fixed so that watercraft and swimming players are not exempt from the wrath of the defense system, at the very least.

I love the yacht defenses, especially when a jet d-bag is in the server. I usually play with friends and we all park them along the same area of coast. We then bait then to our area and set the defense in, but safe friends. I then fly over all of them, they think it's safe... No more d-bag.

 

It's basically a guaranteed no fly zone unless you're with us.

I still think one of the best things R* could add to GTA Online would be some offshore oil rigs:

They would potentially take the "heat" off of yachts by attracting attention to themselves; would be a great way to add some new contact missions, and would add additional reasons to take to the water in all manner of vehicles.

i also think you shouldn't be allowed on a yacht if you aren't on same crew or a friend of the owner.we paid lots of money for these yachts and we deserve to be protected from deadbeats in jets that kill people all the time.they are just now complaining bc tables just got turned against them but t.s.!!!

I was very impressed until yesterday two people in Hydra's were able to circumvent the defense system somehow, they were able to fly over my yaught shooting cannons and rockets yet the dense system would only fire a few shots near them but not hit them.

I like it because it's one of the only things in the game without a cool down timer.

Sounds like they might have been using the "weapons in passive mode" glitch... way too commonly used these days. Can't wait for R* to fix it (yeah, good luck to us on that).

Try this if you dont want freeloaders on your yacht. Turn the defenses off and place some proximity mines at the base of the rear stairs or anywhere else you think someone might try and board at. Then turn the defenses back on and laugh when they get on and it blows their freeloading a**es to hell.
