nelabs
I'd like to be able to edit RPF files programmatically to automate installing or removing mods for GTA V on PC; the ultimate goal would be to use this to make a tool similar to KSP-CKAN for Kerbal Space Project for installing mods with no manual steps. What would be a good way to do this? The OpenIV docs don't seem to mention anything like command line arguments for automation, and OpenIV seems to be closed source. The alternatives I've found so far are RPFLib in RPFTool and LibertyV, but I'm not sure how to make them work with the GTA V PC RPF file encryption. GooD-NTS
The OpenIV docs don't seem to mention anything like command like arguments for automation, and OpenIV seems to be closed source. In OpenIV we have Package Installer and .OIV Packages for automatic mod installations. And in the next version it will support GTA V.
nelabs
Thanks, that's interesting, but will this description still be accurate for version 2 of the .oiv packages? Version 1 is very inadequate, as it doesn't support any package versioning, uninstallation or automatic dependency management, and it requires XML files to be modified by string matching, and it's unclear if the installer supports using the mods folder. The scope of KSP-CKAN is also different, since it's not just an installer but a mod manager, and it isn't based on a special package format but on metadata repositories, making it more flexible in supporting 3rd party mods, since they can be in whatever format. GooD-NTS
Thanks, that's interesting, but will this description still be accurate for version 2 of the .oiv packages? No, it is not. The description of .oiv packages v2.0 will be published soon in OpenIV topic. Version 1 is very inadequate, as it doesn't support any package versioning, uninstallation or automatic dependency management, and it requires XML files to be modified by string matching, and it's unclear if the installer supports using the mods folder.Package installer 2.0 is supports GTA V and mods folder on base level, this means mod creator does not need to do anything to support it.New packages will have version information, and later they will support updating/uninstallation etc.
