rakion99
GG Rockstar are banning for having mods they dont care if are offline or online: R* Answer: Unfortunately, you cannot appeal automatic bans. You were banned twice before for having mods installed and cheating. The automatic system does not distinguish between offline and online mods. If just 1 file is left in the game folder, it will be detected and a ban issued. https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/communities/public/questions/207884167-i-got-banned-bye-accident Lamborghini1335

rakion99
Looks like R* suddenly remembered to ban people for using mods.. They can do that because R* never allowed mods in their EULA, TOS and such so gg 20 years ban

Besides the kind of mods people are using online are difference than story mode, Story mode mods use Scripthook which won't allow you to go online but these folks are using .dll files to go online so R* won't be targeting legit story mode modders as long as they don't go online with .dll mods if they do then it's deservered

gajrajgchouhan
The automatic system does not distinguish between offline and online mods. Then why don't you make a separate launcher for GTA V and Online. The "automatic system" will not ban people then. 65536
Currently R* almost entire official R* website is offline... I was able to play GTA V normally though (probably SocialClub servers are stills UP) however everything on official website http://www.rockstargames.com/ loads just a blank page with no content at all, as the Support page https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us seems to be the only working part (least for me in Bulgaria), all rest is completely down... Edit: Now I got everything back online. Edited December 20, 2015 by 65536

I used my actual GTAO character in Director Mode lots of times with mods installed, doing all kinds of things that would actually issue a ban within GTAO, have never been banned. The only way to get banned from GTAO is entering/attempting to enter GTA Online with any kind of mod installed, if you stay in SP you will be fine regardless of what you do. By the way, take a closer look, it's not a reply from Rockstar. It's from a Helpful Community Member that clearly has no idea what he's talking about. stretchx9
Does R* ban for settings.xml file modifications done for sp? I have stayed offline for months and have my vehicle and population densities cranked up as far as the game will allow. I want to go back to online sometime soon but don't want to run a risk with the banwaves going on.

The "automatic system" never ever bans people using Story Mode mods, I use them since launcha and have never been banned since. The people at R* Support are just making up excuses for having cheated and hacked in Online. If it was for me I would cut off their hand, so they learn their lesson. BlaringFiddle
it isnt garbage ... there are two key problems: 1) the hacking is a problem ... this needs to be sorted. 2) it needs more intelligent behavior when the connection fails to some "server" or another
Lamborghini1335
So I guess if you sell cars with parts that you or someone in the game didn't "buy" you also get a ban. Welp if that's the case I'll get a 20 year ban for doing that...(3rd time ban if this is the case). So I guess I'll just stay in SP.

Tomasrehy
How does banning in GTA V even work? You get banned temporarily? You can get banned multiple times? You don't get permanent ban? If so, no wonder lobbys are still full of hackers if they get a few days ban and then go on again..

stretchx9
R* takes out the trash every once in a while, hence the "Banwave". It's automatic and indifferent to circumstance. I expected them to do this at Christmas when most scriptkiddies would be at home. Begging letters sent to Santa (R* Support) are of no avail. BlaringFiddle
if they can do it "every once in a while" ... why not just let it be going all the time?
XenoxX
if they can do it "every once in a while" ... why not just let it be going all the time? Those are random sweeps and those are executed rather often, however the amount of people registered in Online is just too many also those "filter scripts" require manual guiding I could imagine
