The Future Of GTA Online - Your Thoughts?

GTA Online is not just a feature for Grand Theft Auto 5. GTA Online is not GTA 5 Online and never has been, but instead it is its own standalone game. Rockstar Games have stated this multiple times and given the right circumstances we all know that the continuation of GTA online will carry through to GTA 6 and beyond.

There are many rumors that GTA Online will soon become a digital download exclusive, separate from GTA 5.

A popular thought is that GTA Online becoming a Digital Download exclusive will then loosen the game of its

data capability and allow for somewhat infinite content to be added of vast sizes without putting immense quantities of pressure on the system. This would be an excellent strategy from Rockstar Games to make GTA Online carry through

with the ability to sync the game with the next GTA title in the near future.

==========================================================================================

WHAT COULD WE SEE?

If GTA Online was a digital download and was to be separated from GTA 5. We could see many possibilities such as:

- Map expansions of vast scale that can be rendered and loaded separately using loading screens to soften the pressure as well as take the use of Airport fast travel?

- Huge content openings such as: Casino, clubs, fighting arenas, stunt arenas, NASCAR arenas, flight school 2.0, Driving school, bike school, boating school and more.

- Incredible amounts of vehicular storage - many more vehicles added into the game and some exclusive to certain expansions

- Incredible scale lobbies dedicated to good connection (Not prone to connection loss like now)

==========================================================================================

What are your ideas? Do you mind if GTA Online was digital exclusive? GTA online requires an internet connection regardless, this could only benefit the future of GTA Online.

Leave your ideas below!

GTA V is the best game ever made mainly due to GTA Online's success. SP and its story are sh*t compared to IV, Vice City or San Andreas. It had a lot of content and innovation, but let's face it, characters sucked. I had no feelings about them, like I had with Niko Bellic and his guys.

It's also well know that R* don't care anymore about SP. They haven't added anything since... a long time, I don't even remember, and they only show interest in making DLCs for GTA Online. They had ideas for SP, but honestly, who plays SP these days?

With that being said, I see a clear future for GTA Online becoming a standalone game rather than an extra. I don't see/don't want to see GTA SP dying and being sold (if not disappearing) appart from GTA Online, because we all love GTA due to its past SP. GTA Online it's one of the best games ever made (if not the best) and will always sell if R* keeps up the good work, but I don't want to miss story mode in benefit of GTA Online.

Think the playerbase has died off too much to make a standalone online transition have much success imo.

if you take a look at general gamer communities there's a lot of bad rep with gtao and the playerbase has shrunk massively because of it.

notorious glitches exploits mods and stuff has turned the game into a cheaters paradise, there is no fair play or moderation even rockstars anti cheat measures are laughable.. all of which made worse by the existing playerbases attitude towards these glitches and exploits etc.

Also for the game to truly survive long term it needs real progression, players may have done a few more jobs and maybe even a couple of heists or even bought a few more cars than they had done 2 years ago, but they're still exactly where they were at 2 years ago...

the game needs to evolve and the problem is it doesn't. they add a couple of new things to do here and there but they don't change the game or evolve the game world in anyway, everything you do is still forgotton the instant you do it. and in many respects this makes the game pointless,

I find myself thinking more and more "should I play gtao?" and then struggling to find a reason why, there's nothing to achieve nothing to work toward. sure I could save up for a yacht or buy more cars but whart does that do, nothing. simply don't need more cars. and a yacht serves no purpose, neither does a 3rd 4th or even 5th garage, and as such there's no reason to play. which is kinda bad.

Dr Labuschagne

I hope it just becomes an MMO

Unlimited players

One server for per platform

Play as either a cop or criminal

Entire North America.

Just imagine the freedom of that combination, but current technological limitations and tight fisted millionaires... :/

If they decided to make a seperate application for GTAO, I wouldn't mind, however I would if it costs money.

GTAO is already within GTA5 which, imo, is fine how it is. It's not that difficult to go into Online.

As long as kids buy kash kerds, you can expect the stream of endless expensive content to keep on coming. R* will most likely write off PC and lastgen being full of hacked cash, while they slowly fail to stop modders from ruining freeroam and the economy.

I feel the same way too, V's SP is just so tryhard it feels like it was made for 12 year old children. I'd hate to see how R* would completely ruin SP for a vice city remake or whatever's next, while still building a very very good world. I want the feeling from playing Vice City or GTA3 again, not whatever the hell V wound up to be. Those games nailed a mixture of edge, comedy, and seriousness that felt great. Edited by rrs

I really want a really major update that heavily incorporates Blaine County so that the city isn't where everyone stays in.

i hope it keeps evolving untill gta6 gtao and then gets the fixes it needs to make it perfect(dedicated servers, propper anti cheat system, way less glitches and bugs and thus also less lag, better matchmaking, better loading and maybe even a posible higher top speeds and more npc's...and maybe stuff like animals ?!)

Needs the drops & tradeable items system that has proven successful for other games in recent years. Imagine having to find & collect a whole bunch of car parts that would be gotten as a drop somehow sometimes aswell as spawn randomly (in various rarities) in junk yards in free roam which you can use to make a whole vehicle for a final restoration fee, that couldn't be got any other way (except bought from a player selling one).

And a proper interface, everything seems so hands-off and inconvenient by having to use the list-style interaction menu, which new features keep getting dumped in. It's become a bit like surgery as the menu and sub menus grow which take time to navigate.

It needs a pause menu/match menu that shows all the lobbies of all the matches so you can pick one with players in it ready to go. At the moment we have to work too hard to get things going as we are blind to an imaginary playerbase that is apparently online right now.

I feel the exact opposite way. GTA IV bored the crap out of me.

THAT. I've told that to my friends so many times. It's one of the very few things that would completely change and better GTA Online.

GTA Online is GTA V Online, but it has been simplified to be GTA Online it now has a life of its own that extended beyond the single player game.

Why is this the case?

Because you can not own and play GTA Online without owning GTA V. That should be the end of discussion.

However, GTA Online should be called GTA Online, and not GTA V Online, even if GTA Online is part of GTA V.

But to say that GTA Online is not GTA V Online is ultimately wrong, even if it GTA Online is its own game.

Simply put, GTA Online does not exist without GTA V.

I really disagree with this.

GTA V single player alone is the best game ever made. Online just pushes it over the top and solidifies its place. IV was a great game, obviously, but I think believing that IV is a better single player game has to be imbued with a heavy dose of nostalgia.
